FANTASY PIG OF THE WEEK

u Scores of 70 and 60 in the first two rounds had Andrew Gaff (154) owners hovering over the trade button after paying top dollar for him. In fact, 2100 coaches pulled the trigger and moved him on … but for those who held their nerve, the reward was the highest score of the season. Gaff collected 36 disposals and 13 marks, which was far different to his first two outings where it looked like the outside runner wasn’t going to enjoy the free-flowing footy that has seen him average 110 for the past three seasons. If you want him, he’s potentially at the lowest price point he could get to this season.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

u Key forwards are in vogue this season. Taylor Walker (136) is a surprise Coleman Medal leader after booting another six goals. Josh Bruce (152) booted 10, while Harry McKay (137) kicked seven. Brodie Grundy (152) is keen to regain his title of the No. 1 Fantasy ruck after posting ‘video game’ numbers in the Pies’ narrow loss to the Lions, while Jordan Ridley (124) is getting plenty of bonus points taking Essendon’s kick-ins.

CASH COWS OF THE WEEK

MICHAEL BARLOW MEDAL VOTES

5CHAD WARNER

SYD, FWD – 100 u We could have been mistaken that this was a cricket match with Warner bringing up 100 at the MCG on a 30-degree day. A couple of goals to go with his 20 disposals will see his price continue to rise.

4ERROL GULDEN

SYD, MID – 98 u Getting it done week after week and likely to gain DPP in round six.

3DEVEN ROBERTSON

BL, MID/FWD – 93 u Seven marks and seven tackles were impressive numbers in his second game.

2MATT FLYNN

GWS, RUC – 78 u Finished with only four fewer hit-outs than Max Gawn. Big tick.

1CHRIS BURGESS

GCS, DEF – 77 u When Jarrod Witts went down, the makeshift ruckman was solid.

BUY HOLD SELL

ANDREW GAFF

WEST COAST EAGLES

DEF

„After a poor first two weeks caused a price plummet, his teammates went out of their way to ensure he got his confidence back with 13 marks and 36 possessions. He is under-priced and in form after scoring 154.

TAYLOR WALKER

ADELAIDE CROWS

FWD

„‘Tex’ has turned back the clock on the back of some favourable rule changes and his scoring has reflected that. Had a night out with six goals and 136 which gives him another negative break-even leading into a match-up with the Roos.

DEVEN ROBERTSON

BRISBANE LIONS

MID/FWD

„If you are in need of a downgrade, the second-year Lion is a great option. In his first game for the year, he had an outstanding all-round performance with 17 touches, seven marks and seven tackles for 93.

WARNE DAWGS

u The rolling lockout can be challenging as sometimes decisions need to be made without team selections finalised. Back yourself in with your trades, but make sure you’ve got emergencies ready. u Injuries and suspensions are a big part of the game and I’ve had my fair share. Use them as an opportunity to fix your team either by getting the in-form players or the top-scoring cash cows. u “Hold your premiums” is something we preach. After not listening to our advice a fortnight ago when I traded Max Gawn, I held strong with Andrew Gaff and was handsomely rewarded.

ZAK BUTTERS

PORT ADELAIDE

FWD

„After a dominant performance the previous week, found it a bit tougher last week against the Eagles. Finished with 16 touches and just 58 points, but he is better than that and will bounce back.

ANDREW BRAYSHAW

FREMANTLE

MID

„Had his first lapse of the season last week against the Blues. Finished with 19 touches and just 63 points, well short of the high bar he has set. Give him another run at home to regain the faith.

MATT FLYNN

GWS GIANTS

RUC

„As much as the set-and-forget ruck strategy is alive and well, if you have Flynn carrying out the duties, he deserves to stay there. Held his own against Max Gawn from a scoring standpoint with 24 hit-outs and 78 points.

PADDY DOW

CARLTON

FWD/MID

„With key personnel missing and the Blues’ first win of the season, this was the speedster’s big chance to impress. Unfortunately, he still didn’t make an impact with just 11 touches and 33 points.

HAYDEN YOUNG

FREMANTLE

DEF

„The talented Docker hasn’t started the season the way his owners hoped and his price is set to plummet after a thumping corkie and being subbed out on 24. Worth looking into an upgrade to Giant Issac Cumming, who continued his good form with 91.

STEPHEN CONIGLIO

GWS GIANTS

MID

„The luckless skipper looks to have suffered a bad ankle injury in his side’s loss to the Dees. He went down early in the game on just 26 and will need to be moved on this week.
