WELCOME LIFTYOURMIND Magazine wants to give you a hideaway from your busy daily life. A place that reminds you of who you are. Where it feels warm and safe. Where you can feel good enough just as you are.
recharge when we are at home. The clothing we pick make us feel more relaxed, comfortable and stylish and the kind of beauty products we choose that are good and clean for our precious bodies. Some of my greatest sources of inspiration into self-development are among others the big masters Moojii, Byron Katie, Gabrielle Bernstein, Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Robert Holden and Brené Brown. They all helped me out through ruff times and guided me back to a life of love, pure happiness and inner balance.
After more than 16 successful years of working as a creative entreprenør in the lifestyle industry covering several areas as graphic designer, photographer, interior decorator and author I took a huge new step, following my heart and making a stylish mindful magazine I have been longing for for so long!
The content is based on what makes me curious right now, great food, decorating, fashion, beauty and especially self-development.
While reading through hundreds of self-help books, participating in multiple self-development courses, trainings and classes over the past 10 years I felt SO inspired to combine all my knowledge with my skills from the lifestyle industry.
It will make me extremely happy if you share my magazine with all of your great friends. Together we can spread more peace and serenity in the world - starting with ourselves.
I believe once you start making changes somewhere in your own life – as for instance a healthier diet or maybe by doing yoga or meditate - whatever it is - over time it will affect your entire lifestyle in a beautiful new way. It happened to me and I am pretty sure you know what I am talking about since you are here.
I truly hope this first issue of LIFTYOURMIND Magazine will lift you up, support and serve you in a big way - to a life in inner peace and balance!
Our new changes can also influence how we choose to decorate our surrounding space in order to
Lots of love, Lisbett.

Everything else is made by me and I loved every second of this journey. Not everything is perfect as I think perfection is limiting the presence of creativity. I just love the fact that I’m able to take a picture with my iPhone of my dinner while I am cooking without having my professional camera on hand or write about a topic that burns in me right now and fills my mind. It’s been a great experience to create this magazine for you – I hope you get the same feeling!

YOUR HEART IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD – Mooji

SELF DEVELOPMENT
MEET MOOJI BBC describes him as a cross between Bob Marley and Mahatma Gandhi. I was hit by his presence immediately when I watched him for the first time a few months ago. Without knowing it, three months later I got the beautiful opportunity to do an interview with my great inspiration to freedom – Mooji. (Watch the full interview in the video page 15).
Mooji was born and grew up in Jamaica. When he was 15 years old he emigrated to England where he worked as a sculpture artist and taught art at a college in Brixton. In 1993 he met his master, H.W.L. Poonja (also known as Papaji), by whose grace Mooji came to the realization of his true nature. For many years now Mooji has been giving satsangs all over the world, from Portugal, where he lives, to India and the USA. Many of his followers watch his satsang sessions on Youtube; on facebook he has around 300.000 followers.
We often associate the peaceful feeling with doing something actively to achieve it. And our modern super fast lifestyle makes many people want to use meditation, yoga and physical exercise to try and create more inner silence and balance. It truly helps us to quiet down stressful thoughts. But it is only a temporary solution. Mooji instead shows us that we have the opportunity to discover – through direct experience, not just through belief – that our true nature, what we really are, is the very source of peace itself.
If you have tried to meditate, you might know the feeling of inner peace and calmness - a feeling of “being happy for no reason” while you meditate. And you can have the same experience for example, by walking in nature, after physical training or when doing yoga.
Here below is an excerpt from my interview with Mooji. If you want to watch the full interview just click on the video below. “Mooji: Occasionally we all feel moments of 12

stress in our life, but if it becomes habitual or routine, it means that we are getting a bit stuck in some kind of pattern. What tends to happen when stress or any form of anxiety comes is that our mind begins to interpret this stress as though it is something personal. The mind gets saturated and it makes us feel victimized or that something is unjust. And this is where the whole thing begins to grow out of proportion.
SELF DEVELOPMENT
observing more, I am pointing to a capacity that we each have to simply observe and be aware of something, and then my advice would be, ’Don’t identify with it so quickly.’ ” Mooji conveys his message in a very warm way, down to earth, at eye level. He does it in an easy language which is understandable for everyone, even if you are not particularly spiritual, but maybe just curious to get more inner peace in your daily life.
We are becoming more stressed in life and anxious about our life, future, world, families and so on primarily because we are not living in the truth of ourself. We are mostly taking ourselves to be how we have been conditioned to think of ourselves, and that is such a limited version of the more complete self.
I met Mooji on my laptop at my friend’s home in Amsterdam in March. And his inner peace touched me directly through the screen - wauw! I knew I had to see him again and ask him some questions about my own life. In the interview I ask him, among other things about “How can I stay calm and serene and still be able to perform, keep my business running and provide for my family at the same time?”
One really powerful way to help is to begin to observe more as opposed to just going with the reaction. Beacuse our reactions are learned, they are developed and they are not our essential self. What I mean by observing more is that whatever happens, is experienced emotionally, or happens in our psychological mindset—all these things are observable naturally. So when I say about 13
In the video interview on the next page Mooji encourages us to remain as the witness of our thoughts instead of diving into them head first. Remaining as the witness we find more space and silence inside, more peace and joy, and a freedom that cannot be taken away. Just click on the blue video icon to watch. Satsang: The word originates from Indian philosophy and means: ”To associate with truth.” Although the word is originally from India, it is used today across the globe as a name for an event or assembly where a group of people meet together to explore the nature of existence. ALMOST WITHOUT SPLASHBACK Endless horizon, a sea breeze through my hair and sand between my toes. I’m moving in. I don’t want to be anywere else. At least not before 3pm tomorrow afternoon. Ystad Saltsjöbad had me in a split second.
When checking in with the friendly receptionist my eyes can’t stop wandering out through the open door leading to the pool area. We have been driving only for an hour after we crossed the bridge from Copenhagen to Sweden, and now we are looking at something exotic like Bali or some other far away place. Turquoise water, wide sunbeds with thick mattresses and soft pillows, light, fluttering curtains and soft lounge music. A man is passing us in a thick white bathrobe, slippers and sunglasses with the biggest smile on his face.
coffee and a swim. Now it’s time for ”The Creek Experience”, a two-hour magical guided tour in spa heaven with foot bath, hot and cold baths, steam, sauna, full body mud mask, Turkish hamam, rainforest and finally we are sealed with jojoba oil. I can’t hardly keep my eyes open during dinner later at the restaurant, but I quickly revived after an evening stroll along the coast, as we pass a grouping of small charming multi colored beach houses eventually forming a small town down the beach. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast and access to the pool and spa area until at 3 am. Although we have only been away for one day, we agreed it feelt like much longer and we are lovely recharged. Read more about Ystad Saltsjöbad here.
The next 24 hours, we are floating from one wonderful experience to the next. After a delicious lunch in the courtyard next to the ocean, we relax a few hours by the pool (heated of course), with 26

VACATION FREEDOM
Often we have been busy planning the summer vacation months in advance. Looking at new destinations and hotels together – dreaming together. Expectations are sat high.
Finally we have time together, time for deep talks, laughter and relaxation, time for impulsivity and closeness. Everything we miss in our daily life when it runs fast.
get one happy spouse, friend or familymember. 2 How can we do something together that makes this vacation fun? Learning something new together brings you closer. Join a local surf school or buy a pancake-trailer, from where you can bake and sell pancakes. One of the fathers in my daughter’s schoolclass bought one this summer just to have a common project with his teenage daughter. Maybe you will run into them at one of the many festivals in Denmark this summer. It is bright red and named ”The rolling pancake”. Watch out!
Where things goes wrong is when we forget to tune in our dreams. Asking each other what we as individuals think is important for having a lovely recharging vacation. And then remember to leave room for each others wishes. I have three ideas for questions you can ask each other before your vacation gets started, then you can enjoy your time together in freedom without all the fuss, misunderstandings and disappointments. Whether you spend the off time with your partner, family, friends or parents, it is a good idea to align your wishes.
3 See how you can make time for yourself during the vacation. Maybe you need to have one hour every morning without any duties to do exactly what you want to. Morning yoga, flute playing or just some time to dive into your favorite book. When we prioritize time to ourselves, we are so much more fun to be around. Let everyone get some free time every day on the vacation…even when your everyday life starts it will make wonders!
1 What is the three most important goal you want to achieve this vacation? Make a list togehter and leave space for everyone’s wishes. Even if it’s not what you might dream about. You will definitely 32

DIY – AVOCADO MOISTURE MASK This is a natural beauty treatment that is easy for you to make. The mask leaves your skin soft, full of mouister and a beautiful, natural glow, and it’s fun to make! If you do not use the entire mask – you can just eat the rest.
I like to know what I put into my body, the same goes for my beauty products. Making your own face mask from a very few natural ingredients is simple, and has a surprisingly good effect!
brush, 89.50 usd, buy here. Apply a thick layer of the mask all over your face, you can also cover your lips - they love the moisture. Avoid the eye area.
HOW IT WORKS The mask gives your skin plenty of moisture, while the honey has an antibacterial effect which helps clear up impurities. And it tasted so good I threw the rest in the freezer for an ice cream later.
Ingredients (2 pers) 1/2 organic avocado 1.5 table spoon raw honey 1.5 table spoon coconut oil organic (liquid) 1 tea s lemon juice (optional if you have sensitive skin) 4 fresh mint leaves
HOW TO MAKE IT Put all ingredients in your blender and mix it. Let the mask rest in the refigiator while you clean your face. I used Clinique’s new low-impact cleaning
Apply the mask for 10-15 min. You can listen to my relaxation meditation in the meantime.

HAVE SOME ME TIME I run through the airport departure hall with my laptop balancing dangerously on the small luggage cart, I’m trying to catch a internet signal in order to send catalog to print before I jump on the plane to India. Maybe you know this dilema from your own life, if so here is some ideas to put yourself on top of your to-do list:
Our destination is extremely different to what we are doing right now. We are going on a 21 day retreat at Dr. Unni’s clinic in Kerala, with hours of daily yoga and massage.
Make goals for yourself. And let the me-time become a habit just as brushing your teeth. Do something you love at least 30 minutes every day. Reading, Netflix, watercolor etc.
We’ve bought 21 days of inner peace. But how long will the peace last?
And do it properly! Turn on candles, make a cup of your favorite tea just as if a good friend comes to visit. Treat yourself!

GROUNDING
GROUNDING For many years I was crazy overworked right before each vacation. With a bloody taste in my mouth because of ”vital” deadlines to be reached before close down, and it always felt almost impossible to calm down after running at such a high pace.
If you know the feeling of pushing yourself fully beyond your limits, thinking in just a minute you can relax going on vacation or have a weekend getaway? Then you are not alone. The problem is our mind does not get it at all. Your mind is running in a “high alert mode” after your rough treatment. A lot of people get sick starting there vacation, because the body and mind needs to recover, and many of us are having difficulties getting into “flip-flops-mode” before the vaccation is over.
One summer, it grew out of proportion. The day prior to our departure I effectively placed all our pets, an amount like Noah’s Ark, in the neighbors care and hysterically planted 50 plants from the nursery that would otherwise have died while we were away. The next day, still stressed out, I was chasing my family through the airport at 5:30 in the morning to catch the plane for Greece, just to realize it was a day too early.
I made this guided body scan meditation in order for you to ground yourself and get your body and mind to relax. It will restore your energy.
We could not bear the thought of going back home to look the neighbors in the eyes. Instead we booked a night at the airport hotel. That memory still hunts me as a clear reminder to stop myself when I lose ground.

doing what I feel for, free from the daily grind. Maybe you will choose homemade tacos for breakfast and finish with Indian porridge in the evening - who knows. No worries just try to let go of your “what is wrong and what is right” – and use your senses. Feel the dough – is it firm enough or should you maybe add a little more flour. Taste your food while you cook, is it missing something - sour, salty or sweet?
I could easily have added another fifty recepies but my friends and family stopped me. Perhaps one day I will make you a cookbook of my favorites! During the summer vacation time our daily rutines get turned a bit upside down. We go to bed later and sometimes get up later as well and it makes the meals flow together. PORRIDGE THE INDIAN WAY This oatmeal porridge is inspired by a spiced rice pudding I was served when I was in India at a yoga retreat a few years ago. Since then I have combined the spices with my favorite oatmeal. The only difference from regular oatmeal is that the milk is replaced with coconut milk and then spiced up with cardamom. I also add some vanilla and cinnamon. If you like the porridge sweet you can add dates.
2 servings – or 1 large if you are hungry 2/3 cup oats 2 cups coconut milk 1/2 cup whipping cream (optional) cardamom cinnamon vanilla powder 2 fresh dates salt berries and coconut on top
Get everything in a thick-bottomed saucepan, when it begins to boil reduce heat so it will not burn and stir until the porridge has the texture you like. Garnish with berries and coconut on top. 60

BAKED SWEET POTATAO I got a bit tired of baked potatoes in the early 90’s. Probably because I worked as a waitress in a restaurant where the menu only consisted of baked potatoes with different greasy toppings. Well – this baked potato is something special and far from the 90’s.
large sweet potatoes avocado sunflower sprouts lemon mayonaise from the sweet french fries (p 78) sesame seeds chili flakes
Scrub the potatoes, cook them with the peel on and cut a 2 inch cross in the top. Bake at 180c/350f for about 30-40 min. Check to see if they are done with a knife, they should be soft. Split open the potato and fill it with sliced avocado and sprouts, top with lemon mayonaise and finish with sesame seeds and chil flakes. Eat the peel as well - it tastes heavenly. 68

ICE CREAM SANDWICHES The best homemade summer dessert, almost beats Ben & Jerry’s ice cream sandwich (which I really love!). And you do not even need an ice cream maker – the wafers are assembled with vanilla ice cream parfait which is crazy easy to make. 1 vanilla pod 6 pasteurized egg yolks 4 tablespoons maple syrup 2 cups of double cream dark chocolate small caramel wafers or your favorite cookies frozen raspberries
Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds. Beat the egg yolks with maple syrup and vanilla seeds until it is white and creamy. Whip the cream and turn it into the egg mixture, add some chopped dark chocolate if you like. Pour the cream into a container and freeze. Take the parfait out of the freezer 15-20 minutes before you assemble the sandwich. Garnish with frozen raspberries. 72
