Proper Care of Handling the Cleaning Chemicals As we all know it is important that we can properly take care of our cleaning chemicals, because nowadays, cleanliness is very important. Especially at our home, school, business, etc. Indiscriminate mixing of cleaning chemicals has taken place in the past, and still does in some areas, with damaging results to the surface and sometimes fatal results to the person that is involved. When using cleaning chemicals it requires the proper selection of those which most effectively meet specific job requirements. It is important to know that the types of cleaning chemicals should be known to the user with some degree of accuracy. And also the manufacturer supplies should be understood and read well the product label by the personnel who are to handle these chemical materials. If the container has no label or if the label of the cleaner is not readable, he should have contents to explain to him by the supplier or person in charge of the building maintenance. The directions of application that is supplied by the manufacturer should be followed as closely as possible. Safety precautions are too much vital in the mixing and use of cleaning chemicals. Make sure that the cleaning chemicals


have no damaging effects to the surface to be cleaned. There must be capable ventilation when applying and mixing chemicals. This need for adequate ventilation cannot be stressed more as this helps to reduce the possibility of unsafe concentrations of toxic vapors, no matter how low the toxicity of a chemical product may be. It surely improves the drying time when applied to surface. When handling products of a corrosive or skin irritant nature and rubber boots or special footwear you can use rubber gloves. When fogging or spraying operations are undertaken, face masks may be necessary to protect against inhaling the fine mist. If strong solutions such as alkali’s or acids are splashed onto the skin, they must be flushed off immediately and reported to the first-aid department. The most important thing is that the chemicals should always be stored neatly in a dry, clean, and cool area the containers clearly labeled and firmly stopper. Never leave a container under a drum with the tap on if you are called away, the other contents of large drums have run onto the floor when something else happened or came up. This is a dangerous procedures when corrosive, handling, highly volatile chemicals.
