2013 is a Big Year for Lighthouse Landing Camp.

Little Light

The camp was purchased in 1963 by my parents and grandparents and in 1985, we took over. This marks our 50th year of running family camps and welcoming friends from all over the globe. HOW Birders attempt a “Big Year” by spotting as many bird species as they can in one year. To celebrate our Big Year, we spent time falling in love with all the birds, insects and animals that live with us. Each picture captured the moment shared by the camper and nature friend of Lighthouse Landing. The two prize categories selected were Best Photo and Most Creatures Captured. The best photo goes to Terri Papineau for her fantastic squirrel shot and the most creatures goes to Ryann Fediw & Mikey Canning. We asked several of our young campers how they felt being close to nature. Ryann shared about her time with resident ducks: “The more they nibbled, the more I giggled!” Other words used were cute, exciting and tingly. Wayde watched a caterpillar and said, “It was really cool!” Mikey expressed, “It feels exciting because you explore what they do, what they eat, what colour they are. Like the dragon fly was blue, purple, red, black and orange. It makes you feel good and excited. As soon as you get one, you can’t stop.”

Thanks For Celebrating our 50th Year!

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous!” - Aristotle

Thank you Lighthouse Landing friends for sharing your enthusiasm with us and for giving yourself time to be – just be – close to nature. “From an early age I realized that, when you tug at a single

thing in nature, you find it attached to the rest of the world” - John Muir

Let these pictures bring you back. They are “Naturally GREAT!”
