The technique of splitting up a light beam image into numerous smaller beams serves outdoor lighting extremely well, virtually eliminating all glare for pedestrians and automobile operators in spite of the brighter illumination it produces. A single or multi-configured primary source of light projects the light onto a reflector panel comprised of numerous individual facets. The facets break up the beam into numerous smaller beams reflecting the light with exceptional uniformity, precision and efficiency to the desired surface, area, etc.

At dusk and in the night, direct light produces glare, which blinds and drastically reduces contrast to the point where objects are merely outlines or silhouettes. With the onset of the 21st century, a new age in lighting began. One in which squares, streets and buildings are illuminated in warm natural light with their character free to enhance the night time environment. This is now possible thanks to light beam image splitting and the precision and uniformity of Hess’s facets.

GLARE-FREE Since 2001, Hess has been using facetted secondary reflector luminaires that employ the beam splitting technology at mounting heights of 4 to 12 metres. This configuration provides outstanding glare control and uniform light distribution. In contrast to conventional secondary reflector luminaire systems, Hess’s secondary reflector systems utilise facetted panels, with up to 1764 individual facets. Each facet is specifically designed to perfectly complement the other facets.

THE FACETS Both the facet configurations and the facet shapes are variable. As a result, the facets can be precisely configured to provide the optimum distribution for the specific application, whether street or plaza. Within the precisely defined distribution pattern, the light illuminates the areas and surfaces with absolute uniformity. The illuminated objects and areas appear without the slightest trace of character distortion.

Luminaire with reflector-projector system for the illumination of large areas. Design includes secondary reflectors positioned at 16 different levels and projectors installed in the ground. The 16 secondary reflectors are covered by aluminium roofs, which have a painted finish.

The system employs light beam image splitting technology made possible by free-form designed secondary reflector facets. The reflector front surfaces are metallised with extremely pure aluminium prior to being treated with a double protective coat. Both symmetric and asymmetric

distributions are possible via choice of area or street facet configurations or tilt adjustment of the secondary reflectors. Galvanised steel brackets and twopart round pole. Ground assembly included. Both the pole and the primary light sources (projectors) install in the ground assembly.

Available in RAL or mica finishes. Maximum Lamping Configuration 12 primary units with HIT-CE 150 W 12 primary units with HIT-CE 250 W (For other lamps, consult factory)
