QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 1. PICKING UP THE EQUIPMENT: (a) You should allow sufficient time to collect and return the equipment. The equipment is set up and tested in front of you both when collecting and returning the equipment. If you are not on time at the agreed collection and return times, excess delays may be experienced. (b) Prior to accepting the Equipment, check the condition and state of repair, and suitability for the purpose for which YOU intend to use the equipment. This is your responsibility and Lightsounds has no control over nor warrants that the equipment you are hiring is suitable for your intended use, nor does Lightsounds warrant the effective use of the equipment in the absence of adequate operator skill, knowledge or otherwise. (c) All Lightsounds equipment is in good order and should be returned in the same condition. Any damage to the equipment is to be paid for by the Hirer. (d) Please ensure there is sufficient room in your vehicle to accommodate the equipment you are hiring.

REGULAR = Normal price you would pay if you are not taking advantage of any upfront, midweek or package discounts. MIDWEEK = This heavily discounted rate applies to bookings made for the weekdays of Monday to Thursday. This discount is not available for audio visual equipment or any bookings taking place in the month of December. DISCOUNT = Upfront payment rate, only applies when the Booking is being paid at least 10 days in advance. Discount rate is usually 10% off the regular hire rate. This discount is not available on bookings taking place in the month of December. SUPER DISCOUNT = This discount is only available on packages when combining two or more packs together. It is usually a 10% discount off the regular package hire rate. When combined with the upfront payment discount, maximum savings can be achieved. Package super discount prices shown in this catalogue are based on upfront payment discounts combined with the super discount. In some instances where the savings are so massive, you will find a ‘BIG SAVE’ box to show the extent of the savings. ADD-ON = These discounted rates usually apply to individual items that may be added to certain packages at a reduced cost. Add-on prices are only available when the items in this section are added to the packages on the associated pages. If booked individually, the items will be charged at regular pricing. The discount price shows the cost if paid at least 10 days upfront.

Pricing specified in this catalogue is for overnight hire only and excludes the month of December. We are keen to get your business and are happy to reduce the rate for longer term rental. Generally, rates apply as follows for longer periods. Use these rates as a guide only - call for a quote on large or longer term hires. 2 Days = 1st Night Rate x 1.5; 3 Days x 1.7; 4 Days x 1.9; 5 Days x 2.1; 6 Days x 2.3; 1 Week x 2.5; For each day thereafter, add 1st Night Rate x 0.7. Charges are based on 6 hours of use within any 24 hour period. Prices quoted are subject to change without notice. Where the hire charge is less than $30 a service fee of $10 is applies.

3. WHAT BOND CHARGES APPLY? A minimum of $50.00 (fifty dollars) or an amount equal to the Total Hire Charge (whichever is the greater amount) is to be paid as security bond by the Hirer and is payable before the Hirer takes possession of the Equipment subject to conditions as detailed below. The bond may be applied to the cost of replacement of or repair to the Equipment and any shortfall shall be recoverable from the Hirer. Special conditions apply to some products. The Bond to be charged will be as determined solely by Lightsounds.

4. WHAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH THE EQUIPMENT? Lightsounds will service or replace any Equipment that develops a fault during the hire period and is returned to the premises of Lightsounds by the Hirer during normal trading hours as indicated on the back of this catalogue. If for any reason something won’t work simply phone your local store and you will be given the number to call for after-hours support for your area. If the equipment doesn’t work because of a fault or the fault of Lightsounds we’ll help as much as possible at no charge. However, if an apparent fault exists because of the Hirer’s actions then charges will apply in accordance with our normal call out rate charges.

5. WHAT IF LOSS OR DAMAGE OCCURS? The Hirer should make their own insurance arrangements. The Hirer is responsible for all loss or damage to the Equipment, from the time the Equipment leaves Lightsounds premises, until it is returned to the same Lightsounds business where it was originally hired from. The bond or part thereof shall be returned to the Hirer only after the Equipment has been checked and accepted by Lightsounds. Prices quoted in this catalogue do not include any loss or damage waiver charges that may apply from time to time and any such charges shall be advised at the time of payment and the value will be to the sole discretion of Lightsounds.

Lightsounds and in the event that the ID is insufficient in Lightsounds opinion may demand that the Hirer pays a Bond equal in value to the equipment being hired. Some types of equipment will not be hired to persons under the age of 25 years as decided by Lightsounds irrespective of ID requirements having been met. Lightsounds will not hire equipment to any person who fails to provide required identification and we reserve the right to refuse hire.

8. CANCELLATIONS: Unless otherwise agreed, bookings cancelled within 10 days from the booking date incur a cancellation fee equal to 10% of the hire charge for each day that the notice of cancellation or postponement is less than 10 days prior to the booking date. Cancellations must be notified in writing. All payments received may be applied to any applicable cancellation charges and any shortfall shall be recoverable from the Hirer . A $20 cancellation fee applies for bookings cancelled more than 10 days prior to the booking date.

9. IS MY BOOKING SECURED? Bookings made without full payment of the hire fee are unsecured and are not binding on either party. Bookings secured by advance payment have priority over unsecured bookings. A booking without payment of the hire fee is “unsecured” and is not binding by Lightsounds. Where payment has been received in full Lightsounds warrants to have the equipment available for collection at the relevant Lightsounds business where the equipment was originally reserved between the hours of 12 midday and 2.00pm on the date the equipment was booked for. If the equipment is not available Lightsounds will at it sole option upgrade the equipment originally booked or refund the full amount originally paid by the Hirer. Bookings made and paid for 10 days in advance attract a 10% discount. The refund of all paid hire fees and charges is the full extent of Lightsounds liability.

10. WHAT IF THERE IS AN ITEM IN A PACKAGE THAT I DON’T WANT? Lightsounds will happily upgrade any piece of equipment in any package. Just pay the difference between the two individual prices. However, should you wish to downgrade or delete an item from a package, then the individual catalogue prices will apply to every item.

11. WHAT IF THE EQUIPMENT LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TO THE PICTURE IN THE HIRE CATALOGUE? All specifications, equipment, brands, models, hire rates are subject to change without notice. In some cases the hire equipment will be slightly different in appearance. The performance and specifications are approximate and will either match or exceed those specified on your order. Some products in this catalogue are so new that they may not be available immediately after the release of this catalogue. Due to reasons not limited to space on the pages, in most cases only one model or brand is specified in this catalogue whereas your local Lightsounds hire department may have several brands for the same type of product. Details in this catalogue are a general guide only and Lightsounds is expressly excluded from assuming liability in respect of the suitability of equipment for a particular purpose. No worries, Lightsounds will not let you down.

12. THE SYMBOL W (WATTS) Refers to power of speakers or amplifiers generally expressed in terms of maximum power capability which generally exceeds RMS continuous power by 3dB.

13. TRANSPORT: No utes, trailers or uncovered vehicles of any sort are allowed for transporting Lightsounds Hire equipment. Please ensure that you have adequate transport facilities.

14. LATE RETURNS: All equipment returned after the time and date as set out in the hire agreement, will incur a late fee being equal to one day’s hire for that day and an extra day’s hire for each 24 hours after the due return date. Equipment hired on a Saturday is to be returned on the following Monday or Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday at an agreed time unless otherwise specified at the time of collecting the equipment. From time to time we are willing to extend the return date to the mutual convenience of both parties but the date of return will be as solely determined by Lightsounds.

15. CONDITIONS OF HIRE: All hires are made subject to the terms and conditions printed on the back of our hire agreement. A Copy is available on request.

6. CAN I HAVE THE EQUIPMENT DELIVERED, SET UP, OPERATED & PICKED UP? Delivery, installation, operation, on site service, pull down and collection is generally available subject to availability. These charges are all applied separately to equipment hire rates and such charges are quoted on the basis of free, unhindered access at any time as deemed suitable to Lightsounds and it is the Hirers responsibility to ensure that Lightsounds personnel and vehicles have a clear path to the delivery site.

7. IDENTIFICATION: Lightsounds ID requirements may appear to be harsh at first but only reflect what has become common procedure for this industry. Due to excessive theft in recent times we have been forced to follow the guidelines as recommended to us by the Police. We appreciate your understanding in this regard. All hirers must be over the age of 18 years and are required to provide a minimum of three (3) forms of identification including:1. A current Photo Drivers Licence or Equivalent Photo ID (damaged licence will not be accepted) as decided by Lightsounds; 2. Australian Bank issued Credit Card or ATM card; 3. Two of the following:- current (no more than two months old) Telephone, Electricity, Bank Statement, Local Government Rate Notice, Gas Bill, Credit Card Statement, Water Rates Notice, Australian Taxation Office Tax File Number Document, Current printed “pay slip”, Current Employers Group Certificate or equivalent which verify the Hirer’s full name and current Australian address. All addresses on each form of ID must match the Hirers CURRENT address. Required identification must be provided when collecting the equipment or receiving a delivery. These must be from the person collecting the equipment on the day, who is the "Hirer" and is therefore responsible for the equipment during the hire period. The ID must be in its original form and photocopies will not be accepted. The Hirer must have a land line telephone number publicly listed with an address that matches the ID at point 1 above. Lightsounds reserves the right to request additional identification or information and a third party reference and may request that a third party from the Hirer’s side be a joint party to the Hire Agreement. The Hirer must agree for Lightsounds to make a photocopy of the Hirer(s) identification and to authenticate the copy(s) by the Hirer signing same and for Lightsounds to take a photograph of the Hirer. All Hirers are video taped at the point of collection and return of the hired equipment by way of the in house video surveillance systems in Lightsounds stores. Lightsounds will set a bond in accordance with the quality of the ID provided as determined solely by

17. HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL THE SYSTEM CATER FOR? The number of people denoted as to the suitability of certain audio equipment refers to the number of people the equipment is expected to cater for comfortably. As sound level may be too loud for one person and too quiet for another it is understood that these recommendations, provided in good faith, are subject to each Hirer’s opinion. Obviously, this recommendation is intended as a guide only and Lightsounds provides no warranty as to the suitability of any of its equipment.

18. WHAT IF I WANT TO BUY SOMETHING I HIRE? Most items that Lightsounds hire are also for sale. Lightsounds sells more DJ, Sound and Lighting equipment than any other business in Australia and with our huge buying power we can therefore offer great deals. If you really like what you’re hiring and are keen to purchase then speak to the manager of your local hire department. Props, cases and accessories used in illustrating items in this catalogue are not included in buy prices. Most items can be offered for sale as new and ex-hire. All Goods are sold in accordance with our standard terms and conditions of sale; a copy can be obtained from your local store. Lamps are an extra cost with most products unless otherwise specified. Not all stores carry all items. Prices have been calculated in good faith, however, normal retail prices may vary from store to store. Lay-by is generally available with a minimum deposit. Offers in this catalogue are not valid with any other offer. All products, company names and logos are trademarks of their respective holders. Finance may be available on products over $500 to approved purchasers.

19. LEADS AND CABLES: All systems come with the necessary connecting leads to connect Lightsounds hire equipment. In case you need more we also hire them separately (see page 35).

20. WHAT IF I CANNOT PROVIDE MAINS POWER? If your event, mobile party, float, boat or ship cannot provide stable 240 volts mains power you may need to consider renting a portable power supply, however many providers of such services already have 240 volts on board. Whilst we do not rent portable power supplies we are happy to hire equipment to you for you to use with third party electricity providers but draw your attention in particular to clause 7 of the “terms and conditions of hire” which specifically states that the Hirer will assume full responsibility for any damage that may occur to the equipment as a result of having been powered by unstable power supplies.

21. WHAT DO THESE SYMBOLS MEAN? If you see this symbol next to an item or a package, please ensure you bring a STATION WAGON when picking up your hire as these items will be too large for a normal sized vehicle. This symbol denotes items which are large enough to require a VAN for transport if you are picking up your hire gear.
