Q. When is your favorite time of the day? My favorite time of the day is when I return home from the day’s schedule. Ironically the time I hate the most is also when I return home. Q. What type of music do you listen to? I listen to a lot of music regardless of their genre. I like calming music but I sometimes listen to dance music to change my mood. Now days I listen to Islamic music on youtube, although people around me give me the eyes. Q. Do you listen to radio too? Yes. Of course. I usually listen to it while doing remodeling. Q. What are books that you leave near the bed and read? Sometimes when I am trying to sleep, images flow around on my head and I look for pen and notes because I want to capture the images. So I always have note and pen near the heading of the bed, but I do not have any specific book that I keep near my bed. I only try to focus when I am trying to sleep. Q. Do you read magazines regarding design or construction? Yes. In the fast changing society of now, obtaining new information is very important factor for a person with competency. Korean construction, which is the most conservative in the design field, is also a flow that cannot be neglected. I always listen to new information and social problems without distinguishing other fields, and one way is through magazines. Q. Where do you listen to new news and sort? I obtain them from mass media such as internet, newspaper, radio, or TV news. I especially try hard to get consensus and show interest in local or worldwide news. It is because it is fun. Q. You would be interested in female fashion, is there any specific style that you prefer? I do not have a specific style that I prefer. I believe expressing person’ s personality, location and atmosphere is important. However I do not like over exaggeration or funky style. Q. Is there special clothing that you avoid? I like neat style so I usually avoid clothing that is opposite of it. Q. Do you raise any pet? I do not have a pet animal but I have a pet plant. Its name is Singgo, it is very unsociable but it is a fun friend. Q. Was your child dream a becoming an architect? I was very troublesome when I was young. I often got scolded from my mom who was hot tempered. Whenever such incident happened I sat in my room and drew. Also I had a habit of dismantling things so my nick name was ‘flapping hands.’ When I was little I drew a drawing associating trees in the ‘my future house drawing’ hosted by 93 Expo and Housing Corporation, and won an award. When I look back I believe it was my first step towards an architect without even me knowing. I think it melted in unconsciously instead of through consciousness.
11 Q. Where do you work usually? I do not have a specific location that I like to work in. Thinking is very free, so I believe I am working at all times in any location. In order to embody this, for physical work I work at my atelier with soft classical music. Q. Do you discuss about work with other architect? Normal conversation usually becomes a discussion without me knowing, I think it is a occupational disease. Q. How can you describe your style in words? How will your close friend describe your style? Actually I am a very tranquil person. However designing must be very perfect and elaborate, so I try not to be lazy in self-examination and put effort uninterrupted and try to be serene. This is why a lot of people remember me with cold image. Such memories will provide moderate beauty and neat in expression, but I would describe it as not tedious in words. Q. How are your works changing from the first project until now? I remove as much of the decoration, and let the beauty of structure become harmonious with the overall construction to let it out naturally. Important factor is taking it out instead of adding. Q. What was the project that you were especially satisfied with? I did a not so big restroom project in a tree garden in some university. It is most memorable because I felt like I was the pioneer of the previous spirit of time and presented doubts as an architect to the paradigm of society. Everything went smooth and clearly according to intuition, and my concept showed very well. Q. If the customer requests for anything else, do you amend it while in the progressing process of the project? Of course I believe I must accommodate client’s opinion. In the midst of process amendments need to be made unavoidably. However if my original concept gets disturbed or faded for the project, I try to persuade my client until the end. Q. Is there a specific occupation that you want to try? I want to do a hybrid construction work through co-operation related to other fields by progressing construction, video, art, installation, magazine, and writing. Q. How about a current period architect who is working now? I highly appraise the seriousness and insistency of NOX group who progress 3 different categories of art, architecture, and research. Their method of solving special functions which are not easy to come across is different from others. Q. Is there an advice that you want to give to a young students? It is important to consistently make your own colors. There will be people, who will look for this within few years, but there will be people who will look for it after 10 or more years pass. Do not try to make a hasty decision. Q. what concerns you about the future? It is not something big. It is the happiness of me and people that I love.

Routine design Routine design uses the knowledge and problem solving method saved in the designer’s mind to produce design result. The content and structure of the preexisting knowledge does not change and the problematic range suits the designer’s indication, and the structure of path flow is relatively standardized for the problem solving. Innovative design It requires new knowledge and method beyond the preexisting knowledge and problem solving. The problematic range surpasses the experience and intellectual ability of the designer; the content and structure of preexisting knowledge changes according to the new demand and constraints. Creative design It occurs when probably of the problematic rage of the design is so large that it cannot provide a satisfying result with current knowledge and problem solving method. New knowledge and method must be innovated to substitute the current one and new design plan needs to be made to decrease the range of problematic range to suit it.
③
class1 It is extremely creative activity for brand new object, it is a design which knowledge and problem solving plan cannot be known for the design. class2 It is a relatively new design; it is a design which executes with design knowledge from variety of field and prior plan. class3 It is an activity which chooses the suitable one from the well known alternative plans, selection from each step of design is simple but selecting in the overall design process could be complicated because there may be numerous mixing.
④
Prototype-based design By finding the suitable prototype which suits the problem from the knowledge base, and use the general knowledge of the prototype to draw out specific case and grant suitable value to variables which organizes each case. Issue-based design In order to solve all of the issues related to the design, it finds the suitable information from the knowledge base and answers the question of the issue. Constraint-based design It finds the constraints related to the design problem from the knowledge base and organize it by relating it and find a solution which satisfies it.

Landmark for urban revitalization
As the time passes, the cities are changing endlessly by the people. This endless change is similar to human and trees. Human are born as a child, and becomes an adult and to elder and disappears. However before they disappear they leave part of their self (child). The new person continues the same process. As such, trees grow from the seed and leave a fruit. The same fruit becomes a seed and continues the endless cycle. This circulation of human and tree are the tools and method of restoration and revival to cure the city that we live in. There are 3 items for the strategic element to the land mark. First is the height secure through vertical projection to create the vision of people. Second is the origin of the design in form of tree which is the motive to provide bond measure solution to continue the sight from the vision. Lastly it is to recognize the recycling of container in the people’s consciousness which is the most origin.

Horizontal container arrangement
Through the arrangement and disposition of the container, create variety of plane and variety of space. 1~5 floors are for public spaces, 6~23 floors are workspaces like places for working area for artists and exhibition spaces; and 24~42 floors are the residential space for elderly people.

Structure principle
The branch area which undertakes the load of the building will be in the formation of truss, and the nodal areas which the branches bend will be connected to the structure of truss with the produced section steel. Container boxes can be combined or separated freely in any direction. The branches which outstretches towards 4 sides connote 4 nodal and 11 out of these stretches to a new branch. The nodal area are connected to the center of the construction, so it resists the power which wants to separate towards outside. The six sided construction which allow containers to be fix gets entangled with the branches to provide balance to the overall construction.

Through three dimensional forms, humans who have flexible movement in the given space will consider empathy, creation of intimacy, communication, role relationship through reciprocal action with environment. If actions and reactions are implemented in interchangeable situation, the contrary elements unify and enter the restoration state. As such interchangeable and collective role will be searched together.

Jeju island has a beautiful view of heaven’s blessing as if was a gift from the god. As such, it was made so that it does not oppose the natural view as if it was there from the beginning by stepping away from the inflexible and archetype which has been stuck on a frame of the preexisting city’s literature center. We wanted to design the way nature and ground of Jeju island wanted as a construction which was a part of a nature. The motive of design was found by excavating the latent power which the preexisting earth had. 21 lots of lands are part of nature which has their own different characteristics. 99 points were found in the form from each pieces of land. Through such works, we were able to feel the energy contained in each land rather than the construction itself. Through it, generative constructions were able to advent naturally due to the artificial ground. Rather than unifying landscape construction and folding construction, we actualized the rise of the shape with refined methods.

Our earth is suffering from the excessive amount of trash caused by mass production in industrialization. In which, textile trash make up 8% which is a large amount, it allowed us variety of choices than the past through pass producing ready-made clothes, but it also created insane amount of trashes. As the design goes out of the fashion, or our body out grows the cloth, we throw away the cloth without consideration. Small number of good conditioned clothes is given away for free to a needy people, and a lot of the amount are recycled as industrial material or burned. We wanted to recreate the old cloth as a material for a design; through economical and environmental friendly method. Worn clothes contain chorological characteristic by the owner, this was noticed and compared to the annual ring of a tree. Also, people who donate clothes have a warm heart. With this heart in mind, we created a heart shape decoration and attached to the center of a tree. Just like a tree that is ever giving, clothes were thrown away but it feels as if it is still giving us a warm heart.

Korean tradi architecture Korean traditional architecture modeling History of Korean architecture - 2006 me(PM) + Youngae No + Ayoung Lee + Pilsuk Lee
The model production of classical architecture of Korea was progressed in 1/30 by looking at the measured drawing in each team (3 people) as part of a Korean traditional architecture class. Out of many classical constructions, the reason we choose hall of paradise of Bongjeongsa temple was because of vitalizing the beauty of natural organization by eliminating a lot of decoration techniques in the main symphodia which is a structure to support the roof eave touched my heart. Moreover, most of the currently existing wood construction from Koryo dynasty were disassembled and fixed with Japanese technology during the Japanese colonization period, but the hall of paradise of Bongjeongsa temple has been disassembled and fixed by our own technique. The hall of paradise of Bongjeongsa is a wooden construction from the Koryo dynasty and is considered the oldest construction in style and is the national treasure number 15. 3 slots in front and 4 slots on the side, and the form of roof is gable roof which makes a shape of Chinese characteristic symbol for man. General Buddhist temple have their whole front side as a door, but as this one has a small entrance door in the front and allow to enter with the shoes on, it is considered to be the unified Silla style.

Indistinct Bo Indistinct Boundary innovative design - class2 - issuebased - 2008 Sakia winter workshop singleness
As we approached modern times in trains replaced the water transportation, and Han River became just a boundary which divides north and south cities of the river. Ever since as the boundary of Seoul expanded to how it is now, Han River became the center of the city. Through excessive acceleration and economization, the estrangement is at its peak and we only raise their existence within the consciousness of the dead. I can partially understand the choice of Seoul in choosing an extreme measures known as water front as part of Han River renaissance, but it feels like they have missed a bigger problem. The proposed plan wishes to dim out the boundary by letting Han River soak into a surrounding city. The visual elements advance to outer space to try to interact with people, and become part of a city environment through it. The sensor which takes in and reacts to a specific characteristic of Han River, warmness, coldness, excitement, and pain allowed conveying an image which cannot be possible physically. Recently national pollution regulation policy is being negotiated as air, water, and earth pollution are processing vastly. Technique development to protect and maintain the environment of developed countries are spurring, and are counter acting upon it through development of cooperated environment network with nearby countries and as exemplar countries. Within this, the seriousness regarding water pollution
is getting larger by day in Korea, but I believe we are still lacking to secure the basic information, systematic monitoring system/management plan. I wish to create a meaningful view within our space in which commerce dominates and is environmentally friendly in addition to artistic gesture to the automatic water monitoring system.

Buoy ( measurement device )
The buoys with built-in micro-miniature ON-CHIP type automatic measuring instrument can revolve freely. They are designed to flow out the water to four direction. The thin filter that is installed double filters the big particle matters in the water before passing through CHIP. After that, the balance tool measures the change of the level of water and transmit the information with linked instrument sensor after measuring the quality of water in the second stage. The balloon receives the information and changes its shape(height and color) responding to the information in real time.

Also to provide opportunity to create foundation of Seoul’s ecological design movement and expand to a citizen’s campaign. Green map is a project with characteristic which requires long-term, regional, and systematic approach, and through the target location research and map development research by the map making team prior to the workshop, and 2 weeks of design workshop to create decorations, it was given out to ordinary citizens for free. I believe it was a meaningful trial to create a map which shows resources which can be used continuously, and think about ecological city Seoul which can be continued.

The voluntar for rural com The voluntary activities for rural communities Korean institute of rural architecture - 2009 me(3team PM) + Wonkwang univ. 28
I wanted to end my vacation, which I used rapidly with various competitions and designing, with community service. Daeduk town in Jeonbuk Jangsu-goon was a target of my community service area, and I was to service Lee Eui Soon grandmother in that town. I was given a bigger role as the leader of a group, maybe I worked harder because work was being done according to my order, but the results that I got back was also bigger. It was a small house in the country side so the space was narrow thus equipments could not come in. When we were burying water purifier it was hard because rain water from the ground was coming out, and we had to break two roads while connecting sewage pipe. Works that we thought would be done easily had problems, it would be normal for us to complain when works did not go as planned, but because we had members who took care of each other and grandmother who worried about us, community service was a meaningful. Community service is pouring your effort for someone else. It is putting effort not for me, but for someone else. I gain something rather than someone else. I also gained something from this community service.

Create and develop(創發)
It is a place on earth which artists can create and develop arts which they dream of. It points to a cultural art space in which variety of cultural genre communicates in one location. It is a place not small nor big, but allow writer, artist, movieman, architect,, musicians and other artists to radiate their desire. Heyri which symbolizes ‘culture’ of the city and construction, nature and life, itself is dynamic and living truth of creative culture. Although I do not have a name tag of a city, I was more gleaming and beautiful than already shabby places –other cities-. Create and develop allude to conjecture creating and developing is newly finding something that has not been done or their effort to fulfill it.

The fear of the shadow in front of blood stained knife and smoking guns were probably belief of light fragmentation. The spreading of dynamic chapiter gave me the extension of chronological and utopian feelings, and the cry of independence movement made circular echo in the rectangular shaped frame. The echo containing the screams of young sprits resisting colonial government through blood feel on my head lightly along with the wavelength of light; and my mind was looking forward to tomorrow along with them.
