Weconductedaresearchtoestablishfactorsinfluencingformationofbusinesscompaniesby universitystudentsbeforecompletionoftheiruniversitystudiesinEastAfrica.Thiswas informedbymycurrentengagementofcoachingstudentsinbusiness(SIB)programunder AgriTechinnovationhub.Additionallyweneededtoconfirmthefindingsbythe2020Kenya NationalBureauofStatistics(KNBS)reportthatyouthaged20to29,theagebracketoffresh universitygraduates,hadanunemploymentrateofover32.4percentoutofthe30,000that graduateannuallywithalong-timeunemploymentrateof7.9percent.
OntheotherhandtheInternationaljournalofscientificresearchandManagement(IJSRM) citedkeyfactorofunemploymentinKenyaisthelackofcreationofopportunitiesthatcan absorbthehighnumberofgraduates
Ourfindingsweremeanttovalidatethecoachinginuniversitiesbyequippingthemwithskills toestablishprofitableandsustainablebusinessmodelsthroughbuildingontheirinnovation capabilitiesattheformativephaseoftheirentreprises.Sofarwe'vedoneinceptionmeetingsat masenouniversity,universityofNairobi,jomoKenyattauniversity,RIATcollege,Bukura agriculturecollege,SiayainstituteandDedankimathiuniversity.Inourfeedbacksession
90%wereinterestedincoachingsessionswhilewhileonly5%couldaffordtopayforcoaching duetofinancialconstraintsfacingthemasaresultofhighcostofeducation
