SINGLE- FAMILY HOUSING, VÁRZEA DO DOURO PROJECT Co-worked with Bruno Monteiro The challenge was design a single floor house on a narrow plot with a very steep slope in Douro’s valley. Being de Douro’s valley one of the most beautiful in Portugal and having this kind of levels difference in the plot, we decided to take advantage from the high point to expand the views over the valley. The interiors spaces are organize along the narrow plot, shaping the exterior space with a kind of patios between the volumes, giving privacy and natural illumination and ventilation of the interiors.

MEDICAL CLINIC, AVEIRO REFURBISHMENT, INTERIOR AND GRAPHIC DESIGN This refurbishment of a small medical clinic installed in a building from the 50th, meant to clarify the natural relations between spaces, spoil by 60 years of several modifications by his inhabitants, and convert them into comfortable and user friendly spaces. One particular demand is the addiction of a children area within the clinic. With this in mind and being aware of the budget and space constraints, the new design of the clinic space gave it a more natural flow, improved the natural light and mixed, in a sober way, the adults and kids decoration of the waiting room.

NEW ARTS DEPARTMENT FOR CAMILO CASTELO BRANCO SECONDARY SCHOOL, VILA REAL PROJECTING WITH THE EXISTENT The new extension of the arts department in the Secondary School Camilo Castelo Branco, Vila Real, posed a great challenge. In this particularly case, the new block required a physical connection with the historical building of the school. My main concern was to design a contemporary construction linked to the old building with a sober volume. This diminishes the impact in the historical structure and defines the articulation between the different parts of the school. Taking advantage of the different levels in the school a part of the program was displaced to the basement level of the new block, this also diminish the visual impact of the expansion.

REQUALIFICATION OF THE SURROUNDING AREA OF PALテ,IO DO FREIXO, PORTO MASTERPLAN The challenge was to develop a urban renewal strategy and design for a part of the eastern cone of Porto City. This marginalized area, at the border of Douro River, very weak from the urban point of view, but with a lot of urban infrastructures (like an ancient palace, a museum and a fluvial park, is also one of the main entrances in the city by the east. This set up town plan that divides the residential area from the most of the urban infrastructures with a heavy traffic way. One of the main goals was to link the two parts, to do that, the design establishes a network of pedestrian and bike pathways that spread out to the actual park, in North, connecting the river bank with the residential zone and develop a new dynamism and activities opportunities in the zone.
