HOW WE GIVE Oct 14’ - Sep 15’
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER: S
ome of the issues that affect our fellow women in the world can be staggering {and quite confronting}. Did you know that 2 out of every 3 women in Africa cannot read nor write? And that a staggering 600 million households in South East Asia don’t have access to adequate sanitation? So, how can we make any real change in the world? I believe that it’s by empowering others to create it for themselves. Here at Lily Anne Designs®, we are a purpose before profits company. We measure our success based on the number of women we empower both here in Australia as well as women in developing nations across the world. In Australia it’s with our business model. In developing nations it’s through our micro-lending and it’s twofold. When a woman partners with us as a Design Consultant she is not only empowering her own life, she is partnering with a woman in a developing country through our Social Selling for Social Change initiatives: our micro-loans. We give micro-loans to women all over the world with a small business who are looking for a ‘hand up’ instead of a ‘hand out’. These women request small loans to improve or start their businesses and pay back the loans over approximately 1 - 2 years. The repayment rate is approximately 97%. The great news is as these loans get paid back, we make more micro-loans. It’s ever perpetuating. The change we are making is infinite! This is the first of our yearly reports that show the impact we’ve had. Thank you to those who have been a part of what we know is changing the world: one woman at a time.

any people live their life without finding their passion. I am one of the lucky ones who have found my passion. I am passionate about equal rights and empowerment of women. When I saw Lily Anne Designs for the first time, I connected immediately. Lily Anne Designs is one of the very few value-guided companies in this world, and I know the secret to living a happy and successful life is by living a value-guided life. So for me, joining such an amazing company was an easy decision. Having the opportunity to connect to a company that not only empowers those who work with it but also women around the world fills me with joy. I am not only admiring the change in the world that Lily Anne Designs is doing, but also participating in that change. Thank you.

bout ten years or so ago, I read an article about a not for profit organisation started up to help less fortunate people create an opportunity in business. The organisation took small to large donations and gave them out as a ‘micro loan’. These recipients used the money to start up their own small businesses. This really spoke to me. Years went by, I was invited to a Lily Anne Designs jewellery party at a friend’s house. What I saw in front of me was not only beautiful jewellery, but an opportunity to receive an income, get my self confidence back, and most exciting of all, the chance to help a woman in a developing country gain her own confidence and financial independence through the purchase of my kit. God was showing me the door, I just had to turn the handle and walk through. I feel so very blessed to belong to a company whose founder, Melissa Haupt, has such high ethics and concern for her fellow (wo)man. If anyone out there ever thinks that one person cannot make a difference, they are wrong. This is proof of that.
