Project duration: 2020-2021 Project status: Complete Project architect: Reflect Architecture All Eyes on Me is an optometry company that defies expectations, offering hyper-premium eyewear and state-of-the-art clinical care delivered with service predicated on relationships. The third boutique located in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood is a spatial articulation of the brand’s vision, it is where luxury opulence meets contemporary streetwear. When entering the quaint shop, the consumer is meant to feel as if they entered a velvet Cartier jewellery box. The project was an interior fit out for a luxury eyewear store, with a specific focus on being a certified retailer for Cartier. I joined this project at its design development phase. My contributions include selecting materials and furnishings based on the established concept. The main retail space does not have any separations or partitions, everything is visible to the eye upon entry. As such, each piece of furniture becomes extremely crucial and must be felt intentional. The red velvet panels are very saturated, which is why we chose light fixtures to complement and provide adequate lighting to the space without adding another layer of distraction. This project was unexpectedly well received by the public and media. It has won various awards in the past year. The first Canadian location for the well known Italian cuisine emporium - Eataly. The three storey retail space includes everything from restaurants, bars, cafés, bakeries, ice creameries, grocers, along with an array of retail goods and bottleshop. The warm atmosphere of the interior recreates the ‘hustle-and-bustle” of an authentic Italian market without compromising the up-scale shopping experience. Involvement: Being a part of the team for this highly anticipated project was an eye-opening experience. The extensive list of program spaces cultured by Eataly’s DNA gave me the opportunity to be exposed to the many facades of retail design. During the schematic and design development phase, I was assigned to two sections of the store- La Pizza & La Pasta Restaurant and the Il Gran Caffe. Under the supervision of an associate, my tasks included everything from designing merchandise displays to assisting with kitchen equipment coordination. The spatial layout is intentionally arranged to anticipate a highspirited environment, the “joyous chaos” that is found inside a market. The challenge was to design a space that is warm and inviting to the general public whilst maintaining a high level design integrity. It is the many layers of fine materials and detailed executions that makes the ordinary food shopping experience feel up-scale. Photos acquired from AZURE magazine

Yorkville is the nucleus of chic and upscale fashion in the city, known internationally as the place to find Tiffany, Louis and Coco etc. “a place to be seen”. The design of Beauty et Al’s salon offers a more grounded aesthetic, a new form of luxury, away from the bling, lifting the importance and intangible value of natural elements in our interiors. Involvement: Beauty Et Al is operated and owned by young business owners. This salon will be their first retail space. Despite being quite tenacious, they seemed nervous with regards to creating a space that will feel uniquely sophisticated among its competition. Having worked on a variety of hospitality projects in the past, I was assigned as the project architect & manager for this project to take full responsibility for its design and execution. Clients also looked to the team and I for guidance on brand identity development. They were hoping the aesthetic of the space will lead the direction of Beauty Et Al’s image. The store’s layout was inspired by the interior gardens of Moroccan riads, where often activities are arranged along a rectangular central fountain, designed for privacy and protection from the weather. In echo, Beauty et Al’s different beauty treatments— mani, pedi, hair, lash; are placed inside their own respective alcoves, on either side of a central axis, creating an individual haven for each and every customer to relax away from stimuli.

Reflected Ceiling Plan Nurturing the human connection to the natural world, materials in the space are literally or metaphorically tied to natural elements: terracotta cladding along the walls and ceiling in addition to the wooden floors, grounds the space to earth. While the translucent manicure station table surface and sheer drapery partitions evoke the flow and fluidity of mineral elements. Overall, the finishes in the space feel raw, unprocessed, adding texture and grain to humanise the experience.

SKP is a luxury department store in China hosting a large selection of international labels in addition to offering its own bespoke retail and dining experiences. My involvement spanned various SKP projects, from renovating Chengdu SKP-S to the upcoming grand opening of Hangzhou SKP in 2025. Additionally, I conducted feasibility studies in Singapore and Guangzhou. Each store's design is tailored to its location, whilst maintaining SKP's sophisticated brand identity crafted by Sybarite. In this role, I've learned to navigate challenges during construction, always prioritising the client's vision. Collaborating closely with local consultants and renowned engineering teams has been both thrilling and humbling. This experience has not only immersed me in the world of luxury retail but has also paved the way for my involvement in significant international projects on a grand scale.

Project duration: 2021-2022 Project status: Complete Project architect: Reflect Architecture Photographer: Joel Esposito A new age asset management office nestled within an iconic historical landmark. New Gen, have always perceived their workplace as a casual and sociable space. Rooted in this culture and recognizing that in finance, relationships are built and deals are often struck in informal settings —at the golf or social club—the design sought to create a space that would capture these intangible qualities and revive these types of working relationships.Thus the concept of “the office club” emerged. Involvement: A full interior fit-out for the 25th floor of what was once the tallest building in the British Commonwealth. The soaring vaults of its banking hall evoke a tone of grandeur and financial prosperity. I was ecstatic being assigned as the leading architect for a project at this iconic address in the financial core that still carries gravitas amongst its glass and steel neighbours. By using conventional and unconventional materials in unexpected applications, to strike a balance between conceptually inspired vintage and contemporary aesthetics. The combination of rich, dark tones in the herringbone patterned hardwood floor paired with the vibrant blue-green arches are inspired by classic club lounges. The refined metalwork and smooth curves of the powdercoated, perforated metal arches are a counterpoint to the patina and character of the vintage elements.

We wanted the design to embody the spirit of Newgen. a space imbued with the legacy and integrity of the financial services industry with a distinctly unique take on the aesthetics of a corporate office from the perspective of a younger, progressive generation of financial minds. The design for their space takes cues from the historic architecture with influences from the halls of private industry and social clubs tempered with a contemporary, casual sensibility. The large central core displaces the program in a series of perimeter vignettes framed by tall arched windows.The suspended installations integrate lighting and services and define distinct functions from workstations on the trading floor to casual, work-centric lounge and break-out spaces for employees.

Emerging from the elevators, the spatial experience is a progression from moody, vintage inspired spaces to bright, daylit spaces with contemporary aesthetics. Rough, textured concrete panels reminiscent of traditional wainscotting line the interior walls but give way to clean, light millwork and views framed by arched metal panels inspired by the vaults of the banking hall below. 25

Project duration: 2017-2018 Project status: Complete Project architect: Giannone Petricone Architects Inc Photograohy: Gabby Frank & Hector Vasquez WVRST is a contemporary beer hall known for their artisanal sausages and craft beers. The owners decided to open their second location in the central hub of Toronto’s Union Station. The design intent was to incorporate their original vibrant atmosphere in the nightlife district into a transit friendly environment. We wanted to bring WVRST’s ambient bar atmosphere into the intensely high traffic concourse without completely disassociating the restaurant from the station. The fluted glass storefront allows for people passing by to see a hint of the restaurant interior, whilst keeping the privacy that a restaurant/ bar requires. Involvement: I was a part of the project from its initial stages. The leading senior associate and I worked closely with the owners during schematic and design development to arrive at a restaurant layout that catered to all of the required spaces and equipment needed, for a smoothly cisculating bar and restaurant in a tight space. Meanwhile, achieving a design that all parties were excited about. We also worked cohesively with all other design consultants (ie, graphic designers) to incorporate elements of WVRST’s branding.

TTINGHAM This is a full interior fit-out of a private dwelling, for a family of four. It will become their home in the city centre, it is a place where they can feel mindful whilst maintaining a connection to the vibrant neighbourhood. Many of the design elements are inspired by classic London townhouses, such as incorporating a newly sunken courtyard & timeless interior finishes. Project duration: 2021- 2022 (Ongoing) Project status: Under Construction Project Architect: Reflect Architecture Involvement: My process for starting out a private residential project begins with getting to know my clients on a more personal account through a series of meaningful conversations, discovering their daily routines and rituals. Through this manner of informal conversation, their persona and aesthetic point of view will also naturally become apparent. The project scope is for the full interior fit out of an existing semi-detached brown brick. Everything besides the exterior walls are to be reconfigured and re-built. This includes adding height to the basement, and replacing the south facade with full height continuous glazing. The abundance of natural light that floods into the space gives the otherwise narrow space a visual expansion.

The look and feel of the London townhouse originated from the original build of the home. It’s a Victorian style house with lots of character. Every aspect of the design was carefully crafted. From the architectural detail of the winding stairs, to the selection of fixtures for each bathroom. With the original concept board in- mind, the client and I were able to land on the same page throughout this iterative design process.

Each space feels uniquely designed, yet effortless; because it was a combination of custom and purchased pieces. The project is now in the height of construction, where my main focus is quality control. The clients were happy with the work thus far and have recently acquired our services for a full furniture package.

Involvement: This particular site is situated within the “King Spadina Heritage Conservation District”, designated by the City of Toronto. I was a part of a multidisciplinary team that included architects, planners, heritage and traffic consultants, who worked extensively with various adjacent property owners and the city to arrive at an agreement that can contribute positively to the neighbourhood.
