Dear Cow/Calf Producers, Englewood Farms is proud to offer your largest quantity and best quality of bulls ever. We are selling 70 bulls (16 two-year-olds; 37 fall yearlings and 17 spring yearlings). All the bulls have passed breeding soundness examinations and all fall yearlings and two-year-olds have been ultra sounded for rib eye size, marbling and back fat. We are featuring 44 Lim-Flex, 22 purebred, and 4 fullblood Limousin bulls. We have transitioned during the last two years to a herd made up primarily of Lim-Flex females (Limousin and Angus composites) as well as purebreds and fullbloods. The primary reason for this change was to produce seedstock that would meed the needs of the mainstream market for both commercial producers and registered producers. these bulls should help all producers in rebuilding cow/calf herds needed for the future. Lim-Flex brings all attributes needed for both commercial producers and registration seedstock producers in today’s highest prices ever for cattle and feed. Many of these benefits come from heterosis through crossbreeding. Most of these benefits will enable major cost savings in your replacement heifers and feeder calves. Some of the major opportunities from using Lim-Flex bulls are as follows: 1. Better Feed Efficiency - Feed costs are 70% of the total cost of production. Lim-Flex bulls will produce calves that produce more pounds fo calf for pounds of feed than most other breeds. 2. Calving Ease - The Lim-Flex bulls have low birth weight EPD’s as well as better fertility increasing the percent of calves surviving. 3. Frame Size - the Lim-Flex bulls will all have moderate frame scores which is a major cost saving benefit in feed costs for replacement heifers and feeder calves. 4. Longevity/Structural Soundness - Limousin females have the best longevity of all breeds and will produce a greater number of calves form herds than other breeds. 5. Good Marbling Scores - Lim-Flex bulls have good marbling EPD’s that will produce black hided calves with Choice carcass capability. 6. Better Yield Grades - These bulls will produce cattle with better cut ability than most breeds making their calves more desirable. Purebred and fullblood Limousin bulls used in crossbreeding will also add improved feed efficiency and better yield grades on other breeds of cattle. In addition to the great set of bulls we are selling 41 females. The females offered will be 26 purebreds, 8 Lim-Flex and 7 registered Angus cows. All the females are bred to Limousin sires. KENTUCKY & TENNESSEE COST SHARE GUIDELINES

Kentucky Genetic EPD Standards

How to determine if a bull qualifies for a category 1. All categories require that the bull meet a minimum Calving Ease or maximum Birth Weight EPD. If the breed you are using computes Calving Ease EPDs then that is the EPD that must be used. The bulls EPD must be equal to or be greater than the value listed for that category. If the breed does not compute Calving Ease EPDs then Birth Weight EPDs will be used. The breeds that use Birth Weight have parentheses around their values. The bulls Birth Weight EPD must be equal to or less than this value. 2. All categories have a requirement for growth, however, three have minimum values, one is a maximum value and for the other two there is an upper and lower limit. For Heifer Acceptable, Terminal Sire and High Productivity categories the bull’s Weaning Weight OR Yearling Weight EPD must be equal to or greater than the value listed. For the Low Maintenance category the bull’s Yearling Weight must be equal to or less than the value listed. For the Balanced Trait category the bull’s Weaning Weight OR Yearling Weight EPD must be equal to or in between the two values listed. For the Carcass Merit category the bulls Carcass Weight EPD must be equal to or in-between the two values listed. In this category if the breed does not compute Carcass Weight EPDs then Yearling Weight EPDs are used and this is indicated by the values being in parentheses. 3. There are requirements for milking ability in three of the categories. Balanced Trait bulls must have an EPD that is equal to or in between the two values listed. For the Low Maintenance Category the bull’s EPD must be equal to or less than the value listed. High Productivity bulls must have a value that is equal to or greater than the EPD listed in the guidelines. The other three categories have no requirement for milk. 4. Carcass Merit bulls must also meet minimum standards carcass characteristics; one pertaining to improved Quality Grade and the other to improved Yield Grade. For improved Quality Grade the bull’s EPD for Marbling or Intra-Muscular Fat (IMF) must be equal to or greater than the value listed (For Angus both Marbling and IMF values are listed and the bull must meet one or the other). For improved Yield Grade the bulls EPD for Yield Grade (lower values means greater red meat yield) must be equal to or less than the value listed. If the breed computes % Retail Product instead of Yield Grade EPDs then the bull’s EPD must be equal to or greater than the value listed (For Angus either the Ultrasound %RP or the Carcass %RP may be used). If the breed does not compute Yield Grade or % Retail Product then the bull’s EPD for Rib Eye Area (REA) must be equal to or greater than the value listed AND his EPD for Fat must be equal to or less than the value listed. Breeds that do not compute carcass EPDs do not qualify under this category. Tennesee Genetic EPD Standards

1. AI and/or natural service bulls must meet or exceed the min. requirements for one of the following three bull types - a. Balanced bulls; b. Terminal bulls; c. Heifer bulls Each bull type (Balanced, Terminal or Heifer bull) has a different set of EPD requirements - The required set of EPD's must be met for each of the following three EPD trait categories: • Calving ease (CE or BW); • Growth (WW or YW) ; • Maternal (Milk range) EPD values must be current as of June 1, 2011 to be eligible for reimbursement 2. Breeding Soundness Evaluation (BSE) - a. Bulls must pass a BSE - certificate from a licensed veterinarian must be included with reimbursement request; b. BSE must be dated within 90 days of purchase or reimbursement request 3. Electronic Identification (EID) - 15 digit number - a. Producer will identify bull with an electronic identification tag and provide number to TDA; b. Tags can be purchased at most farm supply stores or local veterinarian 4. Artificial Insemination (AI) - a. Cost of AI technicians or Tennessee licensed veterinarian fees are eligible - AI technicians must be certified by an accredited AI company; b. Producers certified to do AI through an accredited program (e.g., Genex, ABS or Select Sires, etc) can do their own AI work - Producer labor is not reimbursable 5. AI Certification - a. Training must be sponsored by an AI company that is a member of the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) and follows the recommended guidelines - b. Min. of two days training required - part of which must be in a classroom environment 6. Testing - a. BSE & pregnancy testing - must be performed by a Tennessee licensed veterinarian; b. Animals must be officially identified in one of the following ways: EID, 840 or USDA metal tag, or a unique brand or tattoo; c.
