LIMOUSIN NEWS & NOTES

TLA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY Fellow Members & Friends, As the old saying goes, if the current state of the cattle industry doesn’t light your fire then your wood is wet. Historic highs in all segments of the commercial market are fueling the demand for quality seedstock as well. The Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale, Stowers Texas Tradition Sale, and the Hall-Coyote Hills Ranch Bull Sale were well attended with solid averages on bulls and females alike. Congratulations to those firms who participated in these events. Also congratulations to those breeders who exhibited cattle in the recently completed stock shows. The quality ran deep in all classes of the open and junior shows. It’s safe to say our breed has made significant strides in improving those traits that are important to profitability and it is important for these cattle to be seen by others in the industry to see the new generation of Limousin. Looking forward there is much to be excited about as well. The junior program is stronger than ever and is the basis for our future. The Texas Limousin Field Day and Heifer Show will be May 31June 1 in Bryan, Texas, and will showcase outstanding young people from across the state. The TLA will host the National Junior Heifer Show & Congress in Amarillo July 12-18. Limousin enthusiasts from all across the United States will come together for a time of fun and fellowship. I encourage everyone to be a part of these upcoming events. In closing, I would like to thank those who donated and purchased items to the TLA’s Benefit Auction. This year’s auction exceeded last year and will help fund TLA and TJLA activities this coming year. I’d also like to thank our junior advisors Amber and Jonny Parkinson, Donna and Scott Stowers, TLA board members, and Bret Begert and Bruce Lawrence, co-chairs of the National Junior Heifer Show Committee for the work they do in making these events a success. Sincerely,

Ralph
