Add floor slabs and extend outwards to provide a half-indoor and halfoutdoor space boundary.

Offset the floor to distinguish the lighting area and the shading area, providing conditions for building functions and people's activities.

The façade is inspired by bandages, which is intended to reflect the combination of restoring community relations, adding walls along the extension and stop positions of the external stairs.

AGING SOCIETY ADAPTIVE BAKERY POTENTIAL OF PICCADILLY

2022 solo work

This project is located in the retail area of the United Kingdom. The project takes the social background of the aging population in the United Kingdom to deeply explore the positioning and responsibilities of designers in this phenomenon. In order to cope with the upcoming aging society, the site's The quality of the retail area is determined by the interior function, and around the intention of the project designed for the elderly, from the two directions of exploring the interior atmosphere that is friendly to the elderly and adapting to the aging design as a breakthrough, looking for the possibility of adapting to the aging interior design.

THE BAKERY AROUND PICCADILLY

THE PROPORTION OF ACTIVE PLACE FOR AGED GROUP

The project site is located in Piccadilly Square which is very close to the bus stop around and underround station,. However, there is no bakery within 500 meters of walking distance. Considering the needs of people with disabled legs, it is appropriate to place a bakery in this retail area.

THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS FOR AGED GROUP

THE ACTIVE ROUTINE ANALYSIS AROUND PICCADILLY

Arome bakery- Covent Garden

Although there are many recreational items that young people like to play in Regent's Park, the environment is well designed and it is also suitable for picnics and relaxation, so the proportion of senior retirees' activities in this area is quite high.

There are ramps along the banks of the lot, as well as many applications of agefriendly design.

The small interior space is not conducive to the elderly or even wheelchairs, and customers sitting outside may sometimes not notice people walking behind.

Snow-Flake

The dining area has steps, and although the entire dessert shop is spacious, there are no other regular seats.

Battersea park is located in the residential area on the river bank, mainly for the elderly and children. There is a subway station next to it, and there are many direct stops to Piccadilly.

Kissaten

Self-service stores. Although automation is one of the ways to improve social efficiency and conform to the sustainable design concept, a fully self-service interface is not friendly to people with cognitive and visual impairments.

MAIN ROUTINE

BAKERY LOCATION

BASED SITE&TRANSPORT

Piccadilly Square is filled with advertisements for various products for commercial purposes, diluting the urban flavor of this place, which combines classical and modern architecture, while mostly aiming at young people. In terms of this phenomenon, the continuous improvement of age-appropriate barrier-free design cannot completely improve the frequency of activities for the elderly in this place. In order to give the elderly a chance to enjoy the shopping or food time in this place, weakening the commercial atmosphere of the indoor space is a way to enhance the affinity for the elderly. And to avoid the interference of the indoor space by the strong commercial atmosphere outside the site.

DESIGN PROCESS

FLOOR ZONING DESIGN

GROUND FLOW

The ground area is not as idealized as the ceiling. Need to take into account the guarantee of indoor functionality at the same time, on the route of travel, the use of space to carry out a reasonable allocation.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Divide the selection area according to the circular distribution, and use the outside-inward arc to create a sense of streamline of the interior structure, so as to enhance people's affinity perception of the interior.

ASSOCIATIVE DESIGN

Continue to divide the buffer area of each area in a streamline shape between each constituency, and increase the height of the edge to strengthen the sense of division in this room.

Without affecting the sense of zoning, the redundant part of the buffer area is removed to ensure the commutability of the route of the space.

To prevent the space from being too depressed, the second floor is defined as a dining or entertainment area, and the position used to prevent reception and shelves in the plane is removed to creat a wider view.

Research shows that the elderly often go to the park, but Piccadilly contains a relatively small green area, so creating a natural atmosphere full of vitality can improve the elderly's affinity perception in this space.

The elevator mainly serves the aging or disabled people. The elements refer to the fence elements on the top floor and surround the elevator.

FACILITY DESIGN

Set up the circular staircase according to the height, and add a lift inside for the elderly.

Adding a shelf ladder to transport the bread from the basement floor to the waiting area on the ground floor which can improve the convenience and efficiency for the elderly.

Sometimes, to achieve the effect of isolating atmosphere, it is not necessary to fully enclosed design, but to strengthen the boundary effect with a more conspicuous barrier design.

The space on the first floor is mainly divided according to the circular distribution of the conceptual map on the left and the model is established.

The basement mainly sells some raw materials that have not been processed into bread, and sets up a platform for making bread.

The facade form of the store mainly includes the function of window display, and the system needs to be based on the classical architectural style of the entire mall facade.

PAPER CUT CITY PARK 03

The project is located in Jiulong Lake Park, Nanjing, China. The adjacent Jiulong Lake Square forms an urban park landscape. As a densely populated natural ecological wetland park, it adds camping and picnicking as well as walking to people's lives. The concept of the internal road distribution is a continuous paper cut, based on the continuity of the road, so that the park is divided in a continuous flow to each exit.

The analysis of the city's key nodes has led to the discovery of the fragmentation of the city's image, the analysis of the site condition, the classification of the city's main population and the design of a miscellaneous collage of city museums, using the concept of cube mix to form a scheme that forms a small kaleidoscope of the city, exposing the playfulness of this fragmented era and generating interesting places that respond to the characteristics of the times.
