In partnership with the Board of Trustees of Lincoln School, I’m delighted to share Uniquely Lincoln. It’s a bold strategic vision that reaffirms our strengths— our Quaker principles, our intimate learning environment, and our commitment to girls’ education—and demonstrates how we will build upon them. Uniquely Lincoln is the result of conversations with hundreds of members of our community, across all constituencies, and months of purposeful reexamination of our program and direction. As we build on our current momentum and tradition of excellence to create an ever more rigorous and dynamic Lincoln experience, we’ll use this three-tiered framework as a blueprint, a touchstone, and a source of inspiration. Lincoln School’s dynamic academic program, rooted in Quaker principles, educates girls to fearlessly embrace the opportunities and responsibilities of full citizenship in a complex world. Our bold mission compels us to continuously re-examine our practice and program. As educators of girls and young women who will be tomorrow’s leaders, we are committed to innovation and iteration, seeking opportunities to enrich our rigorous academic program to prepare all of our students for a successful future. This strategic framework reaffirms and deepens Lincoln’s Quaker identity as an animating force pushing students of all ages towards lives of meaning and purpose. Consistent with our ongoing commitment to social justice, we will continue to make diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging a hallmark of the Lincoln community, a community in which all students, faculty, staff, and families feel welcome, known, and loved. This strategic framework was developed with the knowledge that perpetuating the Lincoln mission and sustaining all that is Uniquely Lincoln for future generations of students requires careful attention to the school’s physical, fiscal, and human resources. In our implementation of these goals, we will employ wise stewardship of resources to balance investments in strategic priorities with long-term sustainability, and with great pride and purpose assert and proclaim the case for philanthropic support for the school.

Taking the STEAMx initiative full-scale across all grades – with continued effort to integrate each of the STEAM disciplines – to build skills of problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity;

Creating entrepreneurship opportunities for girls of all ages;

Designing and building an alumnae-as-mentors program connecting Lincoln students with graduates who work in their fields of interest;

Expanding the classroom through new and existing partnerships, outdoor spaces, internships, online resources and other learning opportunities and resources in the greater Providence area;

Expanding faculty professional development, including summer work, faculty mentors, and leadership coaching; and

Providing structured opportunities for the development of cross-divisional and interdisciplinary work as well as collaboration among teachers and between students and teachers.

Giving girls an array of leadership opportunities throughout their years at Lincoln, while recognizing that leadership is multifaceted;

Supporting and enhancing each student’s physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being;

Building on our robust athletic program that fosters confidence, leadership, participation, while creating opportunities for developing excellence; and

Affirming and strengthening the joyful sisterhood of Lincoln students and alumnae.


UNIQUELY CONNECTING Cultivating Community Learning occurs in a rich nexus of relationships—among the students, their teachers, their families, and the alumnae whose ranks they will join after graduation from Lincoln; therefore, we will cultivate and nurture a distinctive,

diverse community where all members are valued and belong. EXPLORE AND PURSUE: Cultivating deeper and more meaningful relationships with all constituencies;

Making Lincoln School a preferred place to work by strengthening our faculty and staff community through positive recognition and opportunities for growth and renewal;

Continuing to use research-based strategies in enrollment and retention to build and sustain an engaged, talented, and diverse student community;

Creating an environment in which families from all four divisions feel comfortable engaging with the school and home-school relationships are healthy and strong; and

Building ever stronger ties between the school and its alumnae.
