The exterior appearance is quite pleasant on the eye, angular with lots of curves.

Powered by an electric motor producing in old terms 145ps, this gives linear acceleration with a 0-60 in 9.7 seconds and meagre top speed of 87mph. The power is from a Lithium battery with a capacity of 35.5 kWh. I have to admit it was one of the disappointments, I would have liked to have seen much more capacity.

Mazda suggests that 124miles on the combined cycle may be achievable, I found however in the cold period that I had the vehicle on test, when maximum utilisation of screen heaters, seat warmers, wipers, headlamps and all the other paraphernalia, this dropped to marginally under 100 miles and in fact the gauge indicated after a lengthy 14 hours charge, the 100% capacity had been reached but it was only showing 105miles, this to me is a bit negative. If I was buying this car I would have no qualms whatsoever of ownership but I really do need more miles.

The driving dynamics of the vehicle were of a really enjoyable friend, the level of equipment was superb, driving an electric powered vehicle has to be experienced to be believed.

The Sport Lux as tested will probably be one of the best sellers in the range, with 18 inch bright metallic alloy wheels, power seats, lumber support, and a smart keyless ignition. One feature that does amaze are the doors, have a close look at the pictures, there are 2 rear doors, they are what I class as suicide doors, they open outwardly and the only way you can open them is by having the front doors open.
