This type of technology provides the means to improve your ability to creatively communicate. With thoughtful planning, and the integration of images, written messages, spoken words, and music, you have the capability of creating content and information flow that powerfully tells stories. In this seminar you will be instructed in the process of project planning, research, organization, and use of digital technology to design a unique project. Each student will create a VLOG multimedia biography of a historically relevant individual or subject they value. Whether it’s Jane Austin, Frederick Douglass, Bob Dylan, or Gandhi; the history of fashion design, golf, impressionist art, or 80’s pop culture each of you will learn to use digital technology to document the significant events, achievements, and relationships that define an individual’s lifetime or a subject’s historical development. Utilizing resources available in the Center for Teaching and Learning, located on the 3rd floor of the Raynor Library, you will be instructed in the use of software for blogging, digital imaging, archiving, video editing, and DVD authoring.
The final class meeting of our seminar will be devoted to a public presentation of our work. Each of you will premiere your project and provide a brief reflection addressing why you chose to focus on your particular individual, the challenges you faced in the creation of your project, and the value you discovered in the seminar.
