The gates of Milan were toll gates , with an economic function . Already in its urban structure this project acts like such a gate, utilising unutilised space under the motorway to provide a gateway between the inner city and periphery. In a city as concentrated as Milan, this project creatively and innovatively uses space that is dead or underdeveloped and changes it into open, creative, vibrant spaces
