PRAGUE off your

Whether it’s a short stop over or a leisurely weekend, here are a couple of our top “must do” activities that are slightly more obscure (and of course, affordable) than the travel book Prague. haunts. 006

Compete with locals in a beer contest ‘The Pub’ has a pour your own pint system, (something that really should have caught on by now in the UK) allowing you to drink to your hearts content and compete with fellow tables on a embarrassingly public score board.

As one of the top 4 hotel bars in the world, the Black Angel bar in the Hotel U Prince, offers a 1930’s vibe or a rooftop bar alternative 5 stories above. You’ll pay the same amount for access to view the Old Town Square from the Church Tower as you’ll pay for a cocktail on the rooftop, so do yourself a favour and enjoy the same skyline at the same price but with a cocktail in your hand.
A busker’s sing-a-long at the John Lennon Wall Prague’s tourist attraction that can’t be avoided! Make sure your “Imagine” lyrics are up to scratch and your singing voice is at the ready. Once you’re all sung out reward yourself with a beer at the John Lennon pub just around the corner.

Mulled wine on the cobbles The historic Square maintains it’s Christmas Market feel all year round. The ambitious selection of hog roasts and doughnuts are complimented perfectly with a polystyrene cup full of hot wine, for the equivalent of £1 may we add. JOSEPH

“
The streets of Prague were a fantasia scarcely touched by the twenty-first century— or the twentieth or nineteenth, for that matter. It was a city of alchemists and dreamers, its medieval cobbles once trod by golems, mystics, invading armies. Tall houses glowed goldenrod and carmine and eggshell blue, embellished with Rococo plasterwork and capped in roofs of uniform red. Baroque cupolas were the soft green of antique copper, and Gothic steeples stood ready to impale fallen angels. The wind carried the memory of magic, revolution, violins, and the cobbled lanes meandered like creeks. Thugs wore Motzart wigs and pushed chamber music on street corners, and marionettes hung in windows, making the whole city seem like a theatre with unseen puppeteers crouched behind velvet. 1
Remove any price tags or stickers from your vessel and wash both the interior and exterior.
2
Fill the bottom with rocks or pebbles. This is to create a false drainage layer so water can settle and not flood the plant.
3
Add the charcoal; you don’t need much, just enough to cover the rocks. The charcoal will improve the quality of your plants.
4
Add enough soil so the plant roots will have plenty of room to fit and then grow. Aim for a depth slightly greater than the height of the plant’s pot.
5
Take your plant out of the pot and break up the hard soil. Dig a well to place your plants roots in. Add more soil around the top and the base of the plant.
6
After you’re done planting you can add little accessories like a blanket of moss, glass beads, shiny metal object, sticks, stones, or rocks.
lola Lola are a London based, Indie rock & roll band who completed their first tour last November. The band have recently released their first debut single along with a timelessly unique music video. The 4 piece is made up of singer Adam Perkins, Ben Soan on bass & brothers Tom and Josh Gilbert (guitar & drums).
“
LOLA (5/5) are easily one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. They seem to be from a different era, not just in the way their look but also in their music; which is just brilliant. This band’s recorded material does not do their live performance justice They’re like a substantially cooler, grungier and rockier Placebo. Their hooks are JOSEPH
beguilingly catchy, offering a more orthodox approach to a typically specific music taste. Lead singer Adam’s voice works wonders with this fusion of indie, rock, grunge and garage. It smooths it out, eliminating any sense of the music grating and sounding too-abrasive.
