On October 22, 2007, His Holiness the Dalai Lama consecrated Drepung Loseling’s new property, beginning a dream of creating a “Little Tibet in Atlanta." The center offers programs sharing Tibet's unique culture, meditation and Tibetan Buddhist teachings, practices to the North American community and initiated projects to help preserve the endangered Tibetan culture and spiritual traditions outside Tibet.

This Week This week Venerable Geshe Ngawang Phende la will speak on "The SevenLimbed Prayer: The Second Limb Offering." The second branch of the seven-limbed prayer is offering. Geshe-la will illustrate and explain how we can recognize the nature of offering and determine the objects to which offerings are made. Additionally, he’ll discuss the motivation behind making offerings, the ways of making offering and the purpose for doing so. Next Week Next week Venerable Geshe Ngawang Phende la will speak on "The Seven-Limbed Prayer: The Third Limb Confession." Confession is the third branch of the seven-limbed prayer. In this talk Geshe-la explains the nature of confession, the objects to which confession are made, the motivation behind confession, and the method of confession as well as its very important purpose.

Drepung Loseling Educational Fund The Drepung Loseling Educational Fund was established in 1988 to preserve traditional Tibetan culture by sponsoring a monk in training at Drepung Loseling Monastery in the refugee community of Mungod, India. Help provide education, food and health care for over 3,000 monks residing at Drepung Loseling Monastery by sponsoring a monk. Sponsor a monk for $20 a month
Jamyang Choling Nuns' Fund You can support Jamyang Choling Institute by becoming a monthly sponsor or with a one-time gift. If you are able to become a regular sponsor, a contribution of $30 per month will provide basic food and shelter for a nun. Nyung Ne to commemorate Saka Dawa, the month of Buddha’s Enlighenment June 12-15 , 2014 Geshe Ngawang Phende will lead Drepung Loseling Monastery’s annual Nyung Ne retreat—a powerful purification practice received by the 10th century nun Bhikshuni Lakshmi directly from the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara. This retreat is open to those who have received the Avalokiteshvara Empowerment or any Hightest Yoga Tantra Empowerment. The retreat auspiciously coincides with Saka Dawa, the month commemorating the Buddha’s enlightenment. Details will be announced soon on the DLM website.
Building a Community of Compassion: A Space for Meditation On Thursdays from 6-7 PM, Drepung Loseling, in conjunction with the EmoryTibet Partnership, is pleased to create a space for weekly Compassion Meditation. This secular meditation session is based on the protocol developed by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin know as CognitivelyBased Compassion Training. Rather than a formal class, this informal session is designed to allow anyone wishing to deepen their practice and understanding of compassion to gather in a group setting for meditation and discussion. All sessions will be facilitated by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin or one of the formally trained CBCT instructors. Experience with CBCT or meditation is not required. CBCT Teacher Training Program To meet the needs of their growing research programs, Emory Tibet Partnership (ETP) launched the first Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) Teacher Training Program, Level One, in 2011. This program offers a comprehensive introduction to CBCT theory and pedagogy. The Emory-Tibet Partnership is now accepting applications for their 2014 CBCT Level One Teacher Training Program. The venerable resident monks of Drepung Loseling are conducting weekly prayer services dedicated to the well-being, health and happiness of our Center's members and supporters, as well as their friends and family. The resident monks are also available to perform special prayers and Pujas upon request. Some of the prayers that can be requested include:
Medicine Buddha prayer ceremony for health and healing Principal Green Tara sadhana and prayers for health and healing Dharma Protector Mahakala prayer for protection and the removal of obstacles Jang-wa Puja for the transition of a deceased person Cha-sum Cake Offering Ritual for removing obstacles and hindrances Consecrations and blessings for new homes, places of business, or new jobs. You may request prayers either through email or by calling the center's office. As it is more auspicious to conduct some special prayers on specific dates according to the Tibetan calendar, your request will be scheduled as soon as possible. All the prayers and dedications are conducted in Tibetan, but some texts are available in English or with Tibetan phonetics and you are welcome to recite along or simply meditate while monks perform the prayers. Please call the office at 404.982.0051 or email: center@drepung.org to make a request. Prayer ceremonies last approximately one hour. In keeping with Tibetan Buddhist tradition, please accompany your request with a monetary offering as you are able.

Class will run 10:00 am 4:00 pm This five-part series introduces the essential elements of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, theory and practice. These teachings provide a basis for individual and group practice at the center and serve as a prerequisite for more advanced retreats. Next Week Venerable Geshe Dadul Namgyal la will speak on "Integrating Four Remembrances into One's Daily Life," as taught by the first Panchen Lama. The four remembrances are: remembering all sentient beings as one's mother; remembering one's guru as the Buddha; remembering one's body as that of an enlightened deity; and remembering all appearances as the result of interdependence. Geshe la will expand on this topic by exploring the deeper lessons built into these remembrances as well as the Panchen Lama’s suggestions for incorporating them into daily life.

In order to resolve the parking and traffic problems caused when visitors leaving after Vajrasattva practice and those arriving for the Sunday Public Meditation session are in the parking lot at the same time, we have changed the timing for the Vajrasattva practice, which will now start at 9:30 am, effective March 2, 2014. The Vajrasattva practice will run from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. DLM Calendar
Building a Community of Compassion: A Space for Meditation Thursdays 6-7 PM Drepung Loseling, in conjunction with the Emory-Tibet Partnership, is pleased to create a space for weekly Compassion Meditation based on Cognitively-Based Compassion Training protocols, Thursdays from 6-7 PM. Next Week Venerable Geshe Dadul Namgyal la will speak on "Integrating Four Remembrances into One's Daily Life," as taught by the first Panchen Lama. The four remembrances are: remembering all sentient beings as one's mother; remembering one's guru as the Buddha; remembering one's body as that of an enlightened deity; and remembering all appearances as the result of interdependence. Geshe la will expand on this topic by exploring the deeper lessons built into these remembrances as well as the Panchen Lama’s suggestions for incorporating them into daily life.

In order to resolve the parking and traffic problems caused when visitors leaving after Vajrasattva practice and those arriving for the Sunday Public Meditation session are in the parking lot at the same time, we have changed the timing for the Vajrasattva practice, which will now start at 9:30 am, effective March 2, 2014. Building a Community of Compassion: A Space for Meditation
Meditation Mystical Arts of Tibet Since 1988, Drepung Loseling monks on The Mystical Arts of Tibet have shared their unique Tibetan art, cultural and educational programs at the same time promoting peace around the world. In small and large communities, they've performed Sacred Music Sacred Dance, creating mesmerizing mandala sand painting and educational and spiritual programs bringing people together.
Thursdays 6-7 PM Drepung Loseling, in conjunction with the Emory-Tibet Partnership, is pleased to create a space for weekly Compassion Meditation based on CognitivelyBased Compassion Training protocols, Thursdays from 6-7 PM. This is a space for those interested in coming together and practicing each week. Rather than a formal class, this informal session is designed to allow community members to engage in personal practice and discussion at all levels in a group setting. All sessions will be facilitated by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin or one of the formally trained CBCT instructors. Experience with CBCT or meditation is not required. To meet the needs of their growing research programs, Emory Tibet Partnership (ETP) launched the first Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) Teacher Training Program, Level One, in 2011.
Drepung Loseling Educational Fund The Drepung Loseling Educational Fund was established in 1988 to preserve traditional Tibetan culture by sponsoring a monk in training at Drepung Loseling Monastery in the refugee community of Mungod, India. Help provide education, food and health care for over 3,000 monks residing at Drepung Loseling Monastery by sponsoring a monk. Sponsor a monk for $20 a month
This program offers a comprehensive introduction to CBCT theory and pedagogy. The Emory-Tibet Partnership is now accepting applications for their 2014 CBCT Level One Teacher Training Program. Georgia Aquarium Tickets
The venerable resident monks of Drepung Loseling are conducting weekly prayer services dedicated to the well-being, health and happiness of our Center's members and supporters, as well as their friends and family. The resident monks are also available to perform special prayers and Pujas upon request. Some of the prayers that can be requested include:
Medicine Buddha prayer ceremony for health and healing Principal Green Tara sadhana and prayers for health and healing Dharma Protector Mahakala prayer for protection and the removal of obstacles Jang-wa Puja for the transition of a deceased person Cha-sum Cake Offering Ritual for removing obstacles and hindrances Consecrations and blessings for new homes, places of business, or new jobs. You may request prayers either through email or by calling the center's office. As it is more auspicious to conduct some special prayers on specific dates according to the Tibetan calendar, your request will be scheduled as soon as possible. All the prayers and dedications are conducted in Tibetan, but some texts are available in English or with Tibetan phonetics and you are welcome to recite along or simply meditate while monks perform the prayers. Please call the office at 404.982.0051 or email: center@drepung.org to make a request. Prayer ceremonies last approximately one hour.
