It is representing protectiveness and complexity. Its properties , such as its form and multi-layering of programme, shows ancient wisdom. In this cultural project, the library is tried to transform architectural elements of a fort so as to regard the Tung Chung Battery next to it. Besides, those integrated elements allows it to ultilize the site advantage, by playing a important linkage of public (visitors) and private (village) as well as maximizing sea views. The small openings transformed from forts also creates a compact atomsphere for the library interior.

When focusing on transformation, besides physically speaking (for instance, the city fabric, texture, and the metabolism of architecture), that on human behavior should be most important as well as interesting. Compared with centuries ago, our living habit has been gradually fragmentized. Our project is to explore the relationship between human behavior and the form of architecture. We choose to integrate, redesign and develop a fresh relationship between telephone booths and public museums. In a city which is popular of smartphones, telephone booths have been faded out with time while there are still around 1600 booths, which is being ignored, within Hong Kong. On the other side, Hong Kong’s public museums are centralized in Tsim Sha Tsui East which cannot be conveniently accessed by public transport.
