In the past, I was a graduate of Guangzhou academy of fine arts, majoring in decorative art design. The courses were mainly about indoor soft clothes, so the difference between me and the students of environmental art is that I don’t know much about foundation engineering. However, the courses I have learned are extensive and rich, such as glass courses, space and modeling, lacquer painting, furniture design, lighting design, architectural design planning, etc. These courses involve students’ hands-on and cerebral skills, as well as the ability to use software.
Now: now I am a graduate student in interior design of the university of creative arts in the UK. I am grateful that the university has deed a good foundation for me to make a portfolio satisfying to my tutor, so that I can come here to study with many people. The teacher taught us how to write papers, how to blog and how to record our lives on facebook, and the Make a treasure hunt game was designed to let us know our surroundings. I found it very interesting. I met my favorite teacher,Niko. It is a happy thing to take her lessons every
Future: I hope I can learn here a deeper knowledge about interior design, can improve my English, try to be heard that write effortlessly, and my tutor communicate without obstacles, finally can make which satisfies both the teacher and his works.Another important thing is tourism. I hope I can travel across most countries in Europe, experience different local customs, customs and cultures, go to different countries to learn about local architectural features and see some meaningful art exhibitions. I think it is more important to broaden my horizon in this year.
Past:
I come from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, a city in the south of China. I learned art when I was studied in high school. I always watched a TV show called “Exchange Space” which was two families exchange their homes to design. It made me really interested in interior design . So I choosed study interior design as my BA major in my university. But I think the all knowledge that I learned from my university didn’t enough for me. I want to learn more things about interior design. So I decided to continue study my major aboard. Why I choose UK? Because I appreciate the atmosphere of UK. The style of interior is different from China. I hope I can learn many new concept about interior design here and constantly develop new skills and improve my thinking and creativity.
Future: Now:
When I arrived UK by plane, I was so excited about anything here. Now i studying the Pre-sessional English for Art and Design. I made many friends here. Because the change of environment, I could speak English in daily life. So I think my English has been improved a lot. I went to visit many exhibition and I always got some feelings and inspirations from that. For me, it was kind of improvement of knowledge. And I also have some team homework with others ,so I learned how to cooperate with others and it can strengthen the bonding between us. Actually, I didn’t know how to cook before, but I missed chinese food so much. I could only cook by myself so that I improved my cooking skills a lot. Although sometimes it tasted so wired. But I also felt sense of achievement.
I will study interior design in Canterbury. I will meet many new classmates here, I can make more friends . It will be a new start of my major , I believe there will be many interesting things and I can absorb many professional knowledge. And I can practice my critical thinking. Anyway, I am very expect the next journey in Canterbury. I hope I can become a brilliant interior designer in the future.

Past: Present: Between ten weeks of the pre-sessional English course, I would I learnt a lot of new skills and gained knowledge that like to introI could only get from in this special experience in duce myself. I never did before.
Now When I studying in the UCA, the design of class is full of variety, I had a study trip to the Pitt River Museum in Oxford. I was interested in Noh Masks which enable me to find many Japanese stage history and according to my research I explored the stage of Noh and I had some analyzed these stages. The most import thing is I cooperated with a student who is studying film major. This time I became a director and told him my ideas find some videos from the websites and we mixed these video as a short clip for my presentation.
Again, in the term three I went to east London, got inspiration from Graffiti to discuss inequitable phenomenon from whole world. And I learned how to draw the story boards and then I shot my video clip. Actually I was very proud my word because I have never been studied this before. I am very appreciate UCA English course provide me as an opportunity Future In my following stage, I hope I could cooperate with many students who are creative and talented and beyond multidisciplinary approach to design different space and enable visitors to have different feelings.
Nick name: Joe Country: China language: Chinese,English Previous Education BA Environmental Design, China Pre-Master Art Design & Media, England Major: Interior Design My major was Environmental Design but trend to interior design on my BA period. After I graduated I went to the UK to study for my Pre-Master because I want to suit the mode of British teaching as early as possible and learning with diverse countries’ students. I chose one of my portfolio from my Pre-Master. I placed this design in the first place because it was my first completed project after being accustomed to the full UK design methodology. I summarised this methodology as: 1) brief, 2) research, 3) concept generation, 4) concept development, and 5) concept realisation.
In the “brief” stage, I learned that the objective of this project is to turn the Brighton Fishing Museum into a spa property. In the second “research” stage, I studied the history of Brighton, paying special attention to its relationship with the sea. I then went on field trips to study the geographical location of the fishing museum. The newly acquired knowledge turned out to be really helpful in the later stages of concept generation and concept development.

University for creative arts Past I come from Fuqing Fujian China. Major in interior design, maybe it’s because of a small dream when i was a child—I want to design my own bedroom. I have now fulfilled my wish, I can not only design my own bedroom, but also design a lot of bedroom for other people. That sounds great? No, it’s hard. I had experienced that worked overtime in the company until late at night and worked all night in the studio for my design project. Is it just in order to design a bedroom to other people? No. Design is powerful. Design services people, and changes people, change the live, and even world, i love design.
Now: After a year of study in Taiwan, i learned a lot, I found my vision was really narrow. So I thought i need to study abroad, to gain more useful knowledge of design. Then i decided to study in England, a country has power design level. Now i am in England, study language, study design, study a lot. I have many friends, some of them are come from other country. we help each other, learn from each other, compete with each other. It’s will change me.
Future: Design my bedroom! And become a good designer. I want to build my own company and my own brand, and create a new way to live, Change the way of life that destroys the environment and destroys the ecology. I believe Future design will bring people a better future.
