TO THE INDUSTRY The Western Australia Industry Advisory Board The ASBM Industry Advisory Board of WA (IABWA) is a talented group of industry leaders representing a broad span of business enterprises. The main purpose of the IABWA is to give ASBM industry related advice and support. The board’s principle focus is to accelerate recognition of ASBM by the industry, government and students as a school dedicated to creating future business leaders and professionals, through a close partnership with the industry.

TO Our sTaff Our academic staff are selected for their ability to teach the most current industry knowledge. They offer students complete knowledge of business, finance, marketing, accounting and human resource management concepts and theories and share practical industry experiences.
Key Staff Dr Steffen Zorn Associate Dean Business Steffen completed a Diploma Kaufmann and a Master of Business Administration in Germany. He recently finished his PhD studies at the University of Western Australia researching the factors that relate to customer lifetime value. Other research interests include consumer behaviour and electronic marketing topics. He has published several conference and journal papers and is a reviewer for marketing and tourism conferences and an e-marketing journal. Furthermore, Steffen has taught marketing and e-marketing in Germany as well as Perth’s University of Western Australia, Curtin University of Technology and Edith Cowan University. He helped develop the Google Online Marketing Challenge and is a member of the Google Academic Panel. Steffen has worked in several industry positions such as sales and marketing, quality management, project management and HR for more than 13 years and was a partner of a management consulting firm in Germany.
Amanda Bredow Lecturer Amanda has a strong background in corporate training and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Training and Development. She has over 15 years experience in the field of training and has focussed her career on human resources development. Her understanding and knowledge of the values and practices associated with working in large corporations, combined with her academic qualifications, ensures that our students receive the standard of education expected by the industry. Amanda lectures principles of human resource management and occupational health and safety subjects in the Business & Management School.
Ahmad Fareed Ismail Lecturer Fareed has been lecturing since 2005 in marketing and information technology units in Malaysia and Australia. He is currently completing a PhD in marketing, social marketing and e-marketing. Fareed recently won the ‘Best Paper Award for SCM, Logistics and e-Business Track’ ANZMAC 2009 and was the recipient of the ‘Excellence Service Award 2005’, the ‘Special Excellence Leadership Award 2003’ and the ‘Nestle Award’ from the University Putra Malaysia. Fareed teaches the marketing and the customer service subjects in the Business & Management School.

Students may wear black or grey business trousers or skirts (for our female students), black or grey business jacket, sweater or vests with a white business style shirt. Ties are not essential but students should feel free to wear a tie if they like.
Student Orientation
Business attire can be ordered through the school or students are welcome to wear items from their own wardrobe.
The week before each semester, all new students are required to attend the orientation week. Students get the opportunity to meet academic staff, get to know our location, facilities and meet fellow students. They also receive advice about our professional and academic expectations. Students also receive course materials, handbooks and instruction on MyEnrolment.
Student Services & Admissions Our student services and admissions departments have a wide range of responsibilities spanning the student’s journey from recruitment to administration and support. Our highly qualified staff will handle your application, enrolment, re-enrolment, fees, accommodation bookings and any other questions that you may have during your studies.
Student Attire In keeping with the philosophy of the school and the professional attitude with which our students conduct themselves, the attire worn by ASBM students is casual to formal business attire.
Text Books Students must also purchase text books for their studies. A list of required text books for the first semester will be sent to students with their letter of offer and is also available on our web site.
Industry Work Placements Our students enjoy the unique opportunity to gain experience in some of the very best business enterprises in Perth. Before starting placements all students must meet our internship placement standards. Students are assessed on the following criteria: • Satisfactory attendance record • High standards of personal grooming and appearance appropriate for the industry as identified in the Student Handbook • Demonstrate the required level of skill and knowledge to complete the placement

Working & Earning International students can work 20 hours a week during school terms and full time during breaks. The wages you earn will assist with your living expenses but will not be enough to cover the cost of tuition and living while studying in Australia.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) It is an Australian Government requirement that all international students have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their visa in Australia. International students must pay the cost of their OSHC for the duration of their visa with their tuition fees once accepted on a course.
