apartment The 60m2 apartment in Berlin Mitte is modern and practical yet cosy and welcoming with a mixture of retro furniture and Scandinavian design classics. The white plane walls make the best of the light reflecting the sunbeams all through the rooms. Low furniture makes the rooms appear more spacious and light textiles give it a softer character. The beautiful oak fishbone parquet gives the rooms a warmth and bring out the original details of the space such as the doors and plasterwork. 2 room apartment in Berlin Mitte

RENDERING Interior space
inside out BERLIN
Directly situated at a corner site overlooking the river Spree, running along the former frontier zone in-between east and west Berlin, this location is not only important from a historical point of view, but also from an urban. Questions of how to merge a new structure with a neighbouring building as well as which importance and effect this corner has for the area arises. Inside out presents a public gallery, which as a building, deals with the relationship in between the users; the artist creating and exhibiting art meets the visitor when he visits the gallery in hope of a new experience, and the manager who’s job it is to organize the meeting. Together they merge into a platform that can support not only each individual but also creates an exchange in between the actors. Bachelorthesis, Beuth Hochschule fßr Technik Berlin

FLOOR PLANS
INSIDE OUT functions as a platform for art – for art, artists and art-lovers. It assembles people and creates the possibility for them to meet. The structure of the floor plan is based on the three groups, as each of them call for individual spaces, such as offices, studios, cafés and exhibition space. This mixture of common spaces and private rooms also has an influence on the shape of the building, which abstractly is based upon the relationship in-between the artist and the visitor. Both the artist and the visitor are searching for inspiration and new ideas in order to expand their horizon. Together they symbolize a three-dimensional grid in which the artists’ vertical movement clash with the horizontal one of the visitor; bringing the inside out. As a special translation of this concept, the building shows itself soft and human from the inside but hard and firm 34
from the outside; soft, changeable wood meets hard and solid concrete.

Borgen, a former conference facility, 30 minutes northeast of Stockholm, is because of its architectural style and economic failure now considered to be obsolete and is therefor facing demolition. This once very contemporary building has turned into a lost space, forgotten and ignored by it’s surrounding until the point of its now grave need of a new use. A nearby city expansion, which will set Borgen within a new and very urban setting, offers a chance to revive this already

forgotten and disposable building.

A MARKET OF HEALTH aiming to inspire people to better lifestyle choices and a healthier life As a “market of Health Borgen adapt to the new surrounding and conditions by creating a community centre and recognizes the relevant question of health. It does not only have an important influence on the urban surrounding but works as a platform which can inject itself into the everyday-life of people and so inspire its surrounding to healthier lifestyle choices. The market of health combines financially successful uses, which lack an urban influence, such as a hotel and gastronomy with spaces serving the community; such as a gym and medical practices. It has the chance to both serve its urban surrounding as a common space, as well as to revive an otherwise lost piece of architecture.

PHOTOGRAPHS Models
The aim of the space is to be open and public, to bring the healthy aspects of nature inside and to make use of the spectacular location. The view, overlooking the coastline, influences the shape and direction of the building. The main concept expands the original concept, by adding two new discs to the already stacked shapes. Shifted in different directions adapting to the terrain, roof top terraces and protected areas are created. Atriums bring light to the deep floor plan and do not only create a flexible structure but also good vertical connections and improved light situations.
