PORTFOLIO GUIDANCE
Around 12 finished pieces. These may be in any media or combinations of media including but not limited to: drawing, painting, sculpture/installation or other 3D work, photographs, prints, video, sound and digital media. We are always interested to see and hear about a broad spectrum of your creative activities so bring evidence of other forms you have worked in such as performance, music/audio, writing, textiles, design etc.
Sketchbooks and note-pads containing examples of idea development and media experimentation i.e. working through an idea, testing possible alternative approaches. Show us the range of skills you have.
PORTFOLIO GUIDANCE CONTINUED Contextual research, e.g. information and images relating to the work of historical and particularly contemporary artists, thinkers and writers that contribute to the development of your ideas. Include material that you have collected from exhibitions, museums and galleries. (Hint, a visit to a contemporary art gallery or art event will give you something interesting to talk about in your interview).
A piece of written work e.g. a previous art history or English essay, or something similar. If you have very large pieces of work in 2D or 3D you can either bring them in or show us documentation. Pay careful attention to the lighting and the quality of your images to give us an indication of the scale and the methods you have used.
