STATEMENT Aesthetics, shapes and forms as we find them in contemporary buildings have reached impressive levels of mastery and can represent, in themselves, a goal to architecture. However, the most important to me as an architect, is the quest for new concepts answering people needs and technological and natural constraints. The more the constraints are important, the more combining at the same time an aesthetic view with scientific and technological knowledge and the promise of a good living experience is challenging.
I would love to take part in an expedition to discover where we, as a civilization, can go. There are multiple adverse circumstances both on Earth and in outer space, to which people are constantly learning to adapt. I believe that architects should know how to protect the health and safety of people. Thus as an architect I want to respond to present and future global challenges. To discover how technical innovations can be applied in architectural structures to provide new ideas to manage growth, repair, sen-

sitivity, replication and energy savings. I want master technology, structural and climate design and architecture as a complete design system, bearing in mind the spatial and aesthetic aspects. I am convinced that these fields of research will set up fertile ground for future improvements of quality, sustainability, and delight in the built environment. Being inspired by technical possibilities and humans achievement would allow me to design beyond the stereotypes of what architecture is considered to be.

MOONTOPIA LUNAR TEST LAB
|ELEVEN MAGAZINE MOONTOPIA COMPETITION |WINNING PROPOSAL, 1ST PRIZE |DESIGN: MONIKA LIPIĹƒSKA, LIZE INCI OGUN, LAURA OLIVIER |PROJECT LOCALISATION: SOUTH POLE, MOON |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: NOVEMBER 2016 |CONTRIBUTION: CONCEPT DESIGN, DIAGRAMS, RENDERINGS
Testlab is the future of lunar living and space exploration. The concept of the lunar Testlab is simple - gradually populate the moon over time. The idea is that professional astronauts will work hand-in-hand together with people that are passionate about outer space and strive to find new and fascinating ways of living in a world that is becoming ever more threatening to live in. The most important structure of the Testlab is the outer membrane. Based on a simple origami pattern, it can be 3D printed and it is self assembled on site when the material it is
made of - programmed carbon fiber- shapes itself once it senses pressure variation with the first solar wind. This membrane acts as a large protective shell that covers the whole settlement, but it also has the purpose of producing water and oxygen which is the key strategy of our project. Solar winds on the moon’s surface hold hydrogen atoms that can be captured and stored and turned into useful oxygen atoms, consequentially, helping sustain life in the settlement. This outer ``shell`` membrane is divided into several layers, where the first one contains an aqueous solution which receives and transmits the
hydrogen cations below (wetted cations are more stable than dry ones), meanwhile the second one is characterized by reversed dialysis engines with three modules. These are therefore divided into several nano porous layers based on the notion of reversed dialysis. These layers contain the following solutions: Fe(OH)2, SiCl4, and Si02. The hydrogen moves through the various layers due to the anion effect and serves to break these formulas in order to ultimately gain oxygen and water from these reactions.

3D|4D PRINTING Structure of the project is based on an origami pattern, made out of carbon fibere, 3D/4D printed and assembled on site.
SELF ASSEMBLING STRUCTURE Due to the 4D printing method active carbon fiber starts to self assebly when there is difference of preassure, caused by the solar winds.
SETTLEMENT DEVELOPMENT The settlement can evolve and grow over time. By adding next structure elements testlab becomes autonomous and more established.
FUTURE SETTLEMENT There will be place for experiments with growing plants 3D/4D printing and everything that is needed to prepare ourself for the future space explorations.

|STUDY PROJECT |DESIGN: MONIKA LIPIŃSKA, KAROLINA PAJNOWSKA, LUDVIG HOFSTEN |LUND UNIVERISTY, MASTERS STUDIES OF ARCHITECTURE, SPATIAL EXPERIMENTS |PROJECT LOCALISATION: SAHARA DESTER, MOROCCO |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: DECEMBER 2016, ACADEMIC YEAR 2016|2017, I SEMESTER |SUPERVISOR: DAVID ANDREEN |CONTRIBUTION: CONCEPT DESIGN, BRICK DESIGN, DIAGRAMS, DETAILS, RENDERINGS
The Eternal Oasis, located in the Moroccan part of Sahara, aims at bringing together locals and tourists to celebrate the nomadic lifestyle. It is a culture hub for various activities, such as trade, storytelling and crafts. Contrary to many nomadic structures, it is permanent and long-lasting, an omnipresent beacon in the vast emptiness, always welcoming tired travellers. We wanted it to “float” on the sand, change with the moving dunes and mirror the shape of the desert.
To introduce such changeability, we developed a special building block, which solves the problems of construction on sand cracking, tilting and collapsing. The element is based on the principle of topological interlock, which makes every block cling to its neighbours by means of pure geometry. It allows for movements, adjustments and settling in of the structure.
Making multiple prototypes of the building blocks enabled us to choose the best type of clay. We constructed a special sandbox to conduct experiments concerning stability of the aggregated prototypes. We then chose aggregations with the best strength performance and adaptability. In order to further stabilise the project we chose the form of intersecting, circular walls with parabolic outline, as these proved to be the most balanced in our experiments on the sand. Our goal was to achieve a collection of different atmospheres, capable of hosting a variety of functions. 13

The aim of the project was to design a summer pavilion for public square in Malmo in Sweden. Ideally pavilion had to be designed using computational and parametric design methods.
We focused on folding surfaces. First we were studying different origami paterns and investigating how they behave when put together.
We did a lot of paper models but also Grasshopper (+ Kangaroo) simulations, which helped us to get the best results. We were looking at the level of simplicity of the folds and visual aspects - light passing through. After we decided on form of the single element we used Grashopper again to shape the while structure and develop assembly

|BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE, DIPLOMA PROJECT, INDIVIDUAL WORK |WROCLAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY |PROJECT LOCALISATION: WROCLAW CITY CENTER |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: JANUARY 2015, ACADEMIC YEAR 2014|2015, VII SEMESTER |SUPERVISOR: DR. INZ. ARCH. ADA KWIATKOWSKA; ADA.KWIATKOWSKA@PWR.WROC.PL
The project idea cames from luxtopia concept which is unequivocal with light utopia. Thanks to observations of light phenomenons author decided to implement translucent effect to the project. The effect was achieved by using translucent materials, which leaks only light. The second point on which the idea is based is entertainment, activity in spare time and meeting place.
An activity which was chosen is climbing sport which is getting more popular every year. Climbing is usually practiced in high buildings in suitable adapted rooms.
Lack of greenery in the neighborhood lead to idea of green place, with grass, trees and flowers, in the parallel passage, behind the building.
The area where building is designed is in the center of Wroclaw. This is a place full of clubs and pubs. Each month approximately 60 000 people visit this place and find entertainment.
Design and layout of the building is mixed. It was made of reinforced concrete load – bearing walls and columns based substrings of plastic. Main part is climbing wall and pilars made of fiber rainforced polymer.

Timeless House | Energy Efficient House
TIMELESS HOUSE ENERGY EFFICIENT HOUSE
|COMPETITION |ATTAINABLE HOUSE 2012 |MURATOR COMPETITION |DESIGN: MONIKA LIPINSKA, PRZEMYSLAW CHIMCZAK |PROJECT LOCALISATION: POLISH SUBURBS |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: JANUARY 2015 |CONTRIBUTION: CONCSEPT DESIGN, DIAGRAMS, TECHNICAL DRAWINGS, DETAILS
How energy efficient, single family housing should look like? Without doubt it should be a house which suits our needs, but too often this type of housing don’t take into account one, very important aspect - time. Timeless house is a classical design which thanks to materials used gained unique and minimalistic appearance. But above it all, it is a house which gives its inhabitants an opportunity to customize it, enlarge in the future and experience the benefits of ecologically aware design.
A crucial part of the design was the possibility to addapt a house to various urban contexts. Polish suburbs - the main location of single family housing, are currently under uncontrolled construction, which only deepens already existing urban chaos. The aim of this project is to create a housing settlement with a clear functional system and friendly aesthetics. In the same time the goal was to enable its inhabitants to diversify types of buildings and their elevations.
The way the building is located on a plot influences four privacy zones: public, semipublic, semiprivate and private. As a result the inhabitants can feel comfortable on a relatively small plot and use almost every place of garden in different purpose.
35
Timeless House | Energy Efficient House
36
Timeless House | Energy Efficient House FUTURE DEVELOPMENT The house can be freely enlarged according to its users needs. The base can accommodate three people. As the family gets bigger some extra rooms can be added.
NATURAL VENTILATION Roof windows from the north and an open staircase below enables the usage of natural ventilation, which can be used in warm periods of the year.
PHASE 1
FUNDATION SLAB An extra fundation slab is created during the first construction part. At the beginning it can be used as a terrace and in the future it will accelerate the house development.
WOOD STRUCTURE All future extentions were designed as a lightweight, wood structure. It will enable fast construction or even the possibility to prefabricate some of the elements.
FACADES The facade of the house extention should only be the decission od the investor. It enables to semi-customize the house give it somehow personal outlook.
ROOM ZONING Rooms are located according to thermal needs and comfort temperatures. Living rooms are situated from the south, corridor acts like a buffer zone technical rooms are from the north.
COMMUNICATION Rooms were planned alongside the main corridor which can be freely extended. Its location simplify the design and clearly shows the direction of the future development.
PHASE 2
SOUTHERN EXPOSURE To maximize the passive heating of the house most of the openings were situated alongside the south elevation. Integrated system of shading devices will protect the house from overheating. PHASE 3

|AC CA COMPETITION | DESIGN: MONIKA LIPINSKA, WERONIKA SOJKA, KAROL MADRECKI |PROJECT LOCALISATION: PARIS, FRANCE |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: JULY 2014 |CONTRIBUTION: CONCEPT DESIGN, DRAWINGS, RENDERINGS
How much of the real France is there in France nowadays? In, the time of globalization covering the whole world, we forget about an importance of identity and value of traditional heritage more and more often. This is why creating the place that would represent the French spirit with all its best became the main aim when designing our project. The shape of the structure reflects wavy and undulated landscape of wine hills in the Champagne.
On the other hand, the suggestion to condensate many various functions and facilities all along the river shore by creating an universal structure that could be placed anywhere by the boulevard of the Seine is a way to recreate in Paris a theatrical atmosphere that we associate with old films and romantic pictures taken in black and white.
Structure is made of curvy reinforced concrete which due to its shape can be used for planting for example wine grape what could allow our building to become one of a kind Parisian vineyard.
43
La Vigne Parisienne | Champagne Bar
RIVERSIDE LOCATION The structure can be introduced all along the Seine shore, in places that require additional utilities and recreational spaces the most.
INFLUENCE Adapting the whole boulevard instead of creating a single building maximizes the impact on the whole neighborhood.
COMMUNICATION The structure made of ramps, stairs and platforms in accessible as well from the level of the river as from the level of street. It communicates those two levels in a fluent way. Its also easily accessible for handicapped people.
44
PLANTING The building, in spite of being covered by footways and plants is well illuminated thanks to locations. Almost all windows in the building face the south so the sun reach the inside easily at any part of the day.
DIVERSITY A variety of utilities, is the most important factor that will bring life into the areas where the project in introduced. The exchange of goods could enhance contacts between traders and customers.
SUN PROTECTION Plants growing on ramps and terraces become a natural barrier preventing the inside from overheating in the summer. While in winter there are no leaves left the sun gets in with no problem. It is a natural control system.

14M2 EXPERIMENTAL DWELLING
|CONEPTUAL PROJECT, INDIVIDUAL WORK |DATE: JUNE 2013
14m2 is an alternative proposition of shelter for constantly changing society. Nowadays people have to be mobile and open toward new directions. Its a manifest for an urbanity, urbanity understand as a life style of energetic people, who know what they want. House can use already existing infrastructure and give safety for some period of time. And if we’re going to change a place of living we just transport the house to another location.
Mobility of the house is one of the most important aspects. Thus house dimensions are compressed to minimum and it includes only basic appliances. House is no longer a place which support all human activities. It’s rather a part of a grater system.
The whole city is becoming our house. Restaurant is a kitchen, office is a studio, cafe becomes a living room and park is our garden. House is no longer a separate, independent unit. It becomes integral element of urban fabric.

REVEALED COURTYARD STUDENT AND FAMILY HOUSING
|STUDY PROJECT |DESIGN: MONIKA LIPINSKA, EWA FLIS |POLITECNICO DI MILANO |PROJECT LOCALISATION: MANTOVA, ITALY |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: JUNE 2013, ACADEMIC YEAR 2012|2013, II YEAR, IV SEMESTER |SUPERVISOR: ELEONORA BERSANI, MARCO CAPRINI, MICHELE LOCATELLI |CONTRIBUTION: CONCEPT DESIGN, DRAWINGS, RENDERINGS
Analyzing the typical block of this town we felt that there is little place for meetings and the private space is restricted only to inhabitants. Nevertheless creating in this way narrow, cosy streets we wanted to open our site and provide the neighbourhood with the services. The challenge to create attractive space for families and students we faced with the proposal of dividing the block in three main parts with one reserved for common facilities.
The leading concept of the project is the flowing connection between our block and the Piazza of St Leonardo. The shape of the building reserved for services creates the dynamic path from the southern part up to the Piazza. Other two are closing the site from southern and eastern sides. The families’ units have single access to each apartment with the private green roof on the top.
Our aim was to give the liveability to the courtyard which would attract the inhabitants and was the focal spot of the close neighbourhood. To achieve that goal we put the book store with the cafeteria and the bakery as the main facilities with the green roof on the top. That would also improve the views from the bedrooms of the residential units because of the high density and lack of the greenery.

THREE UNITS
MATERIALITY
For the projects there are three buildings composed. The biggest one is a dormitory, touching the residential part. One separate building is a public one. With cafe and library.
Language of materiality plays a very important role in the project. Brick means private, residential spaces, while more available, social parts are covered by concrete.
GREEN ROOFS
OPEN | NARROW SPACES
On the top of the public building there is a public green roof, for students and inhabitants from the neighbourhood. Residential part has its own, private gardens on the roof.
Courtyard is diverse in a type of inner spaces. There are wider and more open part and other, rather narrow. Thus the flow in the courtyard is more fluent and natural.
PIAZZA CONNECTION The whole complex is shaped in a way that it easy connects with the existing square with church. Courtyard opens toward the church square and creates one common space.

Third Street is a project of residential and recreational complex located by the canal in San Rafael in California. Investor is a Norwegian, from marine city of Stavanger. His main request was to try to bring the atmosphere of old Stavanger to the shore of San Rafael.
Projects mainly includes apartment buildings, but we also had to include surfers’ shops and crab bar (already existing on the site).
The idea was to revitalize the shore of the canal which right now has more industrial character, but has huge potential as a public space.

MONOLITH | OASIS ICONIC SERVICE STATION
|COBE - ARCHITECTURAL OFFICE |COPENHAGEN, DENMARK |TEAM WORK - INTERNSHIP AT COBE |PROJECT CARRIED OUT: JUNE 2015 |SUPERVISOR: THOMAS KRARUP, DAN STUBBERGAARD |CONTACT: COBE@COBE.DK, WWW.COBE.DK |CONTRUBUTION: CONCEPT DESIGN, DIAGRAMS, DRAWINGS
The generic gas station is a typology composed of three simple building elements; a volume housing the service center, a canopy covering the gas pumps protecting customers from weather and a vertical structure carrying a sign so that the station is visible from a distance. Except for the sign, the generic gas station tries to hide, to blend in. By simply reworking the canopy and the building volume, a new iconic service station can be achieved.
A series of visual phenomena are tied to the horizon in warm climates. One of these is the fata morgana, the mirage. The mirage is an optical illusion creating a visual distortion in the horizon often creating objects that appear as if they are either floating midair or sailing in a sea of water. By using this visual effect as a design tool, we can enhance the experience of the mirage!
To enhance the effect of the mirage landscape elements are incorporated into the design. The desert landscape of Abu Dhabi spans from lustrous wetlands to local mangroves to oscillating desert dunes to rocky, mountainous areas. The singular, magnificent landscape of the Arabian Peninsula must be incorporated into the design of the Distribution Service Station. Incorporate the local!
63
Monolit | Oasis | Iconic Service Station
64
Monolit | Oasis | Iconic Service Station DUNES One of the most fascinating natural features of the Arabian Peninsula is the characteristic oscillating desert landscape. The desert dunes can be seen not only as hilly scenery, but also as a landscape that can be inhabited. THE MONOLITH By evolving our analysis of the generic gas station, we add program and functions to the canopy inhabiting it to make a floating mall. A horizontal slab, an abstract object hovering six meters above the ground, is used as a building-like canopy. LOCAL ICON Together the monolith and the dunes form a unique, local icon. Hovering over the dunes the monolith invokes a mirage effect, while driving past the monolith the viewer will question what they have seen.

VILLAGE Oasis station as a series of volumes. Each volume has a single program inside, such as minimarket, mechanic, car wash, etc. These volumes are closely placed to create pockets and shading from the harsh desert sun and winds.
THE CANOPY The ring-like vegetated canopy acts both as shading over the village and gas pumps, and at the same as an elevated piece of the Abu Dhabi desert landscape. Functionally it shades from the sun, acts as visual beacon and it works as a heat absorber.
LOCAL ICON The village, the date oasis combined with the vegetated canopy together create an iconic service station that invites to visit, communicates function and at the same time presents a sustainable solution for a building designed for the desert climate.

Letter of recommendation To whom it may concern,
Monika took part in internship in Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP architects form July to September 2014.
She worked on many projects but mostly on Yokohama Building and Dali &Lijang, which were our main projects at that time.
Monika is hardworking person with great creative approach in everything she does. Mostly she helped us with creating models for our main issues. But also she had an opportunity to show us her computer programs skills. She did accurate and solid job. Monika is an outgoing person who easily gets new friends. She can work in group and like to learn from colleagues. She was kind and polite to other interns and staff. Monika is a reliable person. She stayed at work longer when it was necessary. She helped us very much. We can honestly say that her work was invaluable. She was well prepared for the internship. She knew many of our projects and she was fascinated with working with us. She started to learn programs we use in our studio and she did it well. We really liked this kind of ambitious attitude.
During the internship Monika learned our way of working. She experienced our hierarchy and had chance to see expectations of our top clients. She understands how important are details and she paid attention to them.
We are glad that she spent her time working with us. It was great help for us and important experience for her. Because of her ambitious and hardworking attitude we predict that she will be very good architect in the future. She has our honest recommendation and we wish her a lot of successes on architectural field. Sincerely,
Hiroshi Nakamura
