you

are Lipscomb.

Leave your mark. A future senator, ready to try your hand at leadership in student government. A budding educator, working an afternoon tutoring job to prepare for this time next year, when you’ll be observing real classrooms as part of your coursework. An aspiring nurse, anticipating the medical mission trip to Malawi you’re already planning to take next summer. Every possibility you encounter at Lipscomb will lead you closer to your purpose. Your gifts are God-given—that’s why it’s our highest priority to help you discover how you’ll use them for the rest of your life. And we’ve found that in the context of a faith-based, serviceminded community, education becomes a gateway for good. By engaging and expanding your intellectual strength, you’ll learn how to create meaningful change. You bring your curiosity, creativity and commitment, and we’ll equip you with knowledge, skills and confidence to leave your mark on the world.

Take a leap. College opens up a chapter of discovery and growth, redefining for yourself what it means to be independent. Is it moving out of your parents’ house? Developing a stronger work ethic? Doing your own laundry? It’s different for everyone. And we’re here to help you figure it out, offering support every step of the way.

Maybe you’ll live in a dorm—our staff of residence hall directors and RAs will become like family. In fact, they’re already planning for you, praying for you and figuring out how to make your residential experience feel like home. Each year, our res life staff is carefully chosen to provide leadership, offer support and create a welcoming, positive environment. But they’re not the only ones around to lend a hand. Our around-theclock security officers are trained to monitor campus, respond to emergencies and will even jump-start your car battery or walk you to your dorm at night. If you need to speak with someone about any topic, our full-service Counseling Center provides confidential mental health support at no additional cost. Your physical well-being is important, too. In the Health Center, you can receive services ranging from first aid to coronavirus testing to standard physical exams. And if you’re eager to stay fit, the Student Activities Center features weight rooms, basketball and racquetball courts, a spinning studio, a performance studio, group fitness classes and an indoor track. Prefer the great outdoors to the gym? Try renting a bike, kayak or paddleboard from Campus Recreation.

Find your fit. What do a dodgeball tournament, a Bison statue and a musical production have in common? For one, they’ll all be some of your favorite college memories—but it’s bigger than that. It’s the sense of community you’ll feel: finding a place to fit in, to laugh, to thrive. It’s the traditions that bring us together year after year, something to look forward to amid the chaos that college can sometimes be. The most important thing that our traditions have in common is you.

Singarama “Singarama is my favorite Lipscomb tradition because you can make more friends and hang out with people you don’t normally hang out with. It gets people out of their comfort zone and bonds them together because they are reaching toward a common goal.” —Lindsay Bradshaw, ’20

Painting the Bison “It has become a tradition for students to spray paint the Bison statue in the middle of campus. It’s a cool way to create artwork that the whole school sees, but also fun because no one knows who did it.” — Peter Backer, ’23

Dodgeball “As a freshman, dodgeball was the first event to publicly push me out of my comfort zone, and it was so much fun. Teams come in costume and battle it out in the courtyard of a dorm to win the tournament—this year, the winner was a group of mechanics.” — Jeffrey Martin, ’23

Discover your Nashville. If asked, most Lipscomb students can run through a shortlist of places they’ll run into other Bisons: The Well Coffeehouse, Sevier Park, Baja Burrito, Martin’s Bar-B-Que...that’s the advantage of a close-knit community in a trendy corner of the city. And having Bison-owned businesses like Martin’s and The Well within a stone’s throw of campus is one of those things that just makes Nashville feel like home. Professor Rob Touchstone Director, Center for Business as Mission “In business we talk a lot about return on investment. I see my role at Lipscomb as investing in students. I’m going all in on this investment because the return is amazing. It’s getting to see what business students will become as they leave here equipped with a new lens for seeing the marketplace. Not just as a way to climb the corporate ladder or make money for themselves, but to truly create change that is both sustainable and good.” Professor Touchstone sees entrepreneurship as

Meet your mentors. Dr. Chelsia Harris Executive Director, School of Nursing “Nurses are this indefinable role—we serve people far beyond the bedside. My goal is to serve by helping students, nurses and faculty seek what God has called them to, with all their hearts. Where he plants a passion, we are responsible to keep pushing toward it.” Dr. Harris realized she wanted to be a nurse at 16
