CLARENDON TERRACES

This proposal involved the re-design of an existing public housing project located in Somerville, MA. The existing conditions of the site were poorly maintained and there was very little public activity taking place in the urban environment despite being located beside a large park and various retail stores. The site is also heavily sloped from one end to the other which prompted a design that could create a flat plane for the community to engage in, revitalizing the urban spaces around the site.

URBAN PERFORMANCE SPACES This proposal involved the design of a performance theater located in Medellin, Colombia. The existing site is currently home to a 3-storey retail building that will have its programs transferred to the ground floor of the proposed building; keeping the urban landscape familiar. The design intent of the project is to create a cultural hub for the city that showcases the culture and elegance of the community amidst the busy urban environment. It utilizes simplistic geometric shapes as the building isn’t meant to “intrude” the space of the locals but rather provide a rich gathering area for the community while incorporating the adjacent Parc of Lights as a visual feature.

THE CULTURAL HUB My thesis revolved around the idea of creating a community center for underresourced neighborhoods, specifically in Dorchester, MA where there is a high immigrant population. Culturally diverse neighbourhoods that are under-resourced can develop cultural and social tension. Their residents may lack the necessary skills and communication tools to engage in social interaction and live comfortably. A community center can help provide services and opportunities for the neighbourhood to interact in, help immigrant families settle in, and act as a cultural hub.

MINUTEMAN HIGH SCHOOL Minuteman High School is located in Lexington, MA and serves over 10 communities in the area. The new vocational high school is 270,000 ft2 which includes large classrooms, vocational programs organized into trade clusters, a “main street� retail area, and break out spaces for small group learning. It was designed as a study through MSBA to create a new education facility to replace the existing high school that is old and deteriorating. I was put on the project during its CA stage and primarily responsible for updating the 3D model, site model, producing renderings, and video animations for the client to showcase their new building.

BURRELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Burrell Elementary School is an add/reno. project located in Foxborough, MA. The add/ reno is split into 3 different phases that is coordinated together to allow classes to be operational during construction. A new gym and Pre-K area will be added to provide the school with the necessary spaces and accommodate for the growing population of the surrounding communities. I was primarily responsible for creating construction documents focusing on phase 3 of the project along with producing renders, coordinating MEPFP, and structure. Additionally, I was responsible for designing the upper panel options for the clients review.

QUINCY PUBLIC SAFETY Quincy Public Safety is located in Quincy, MA and the project is a feasibility study to determine if the town needs a new facility. The existing Quincy Public Safety building experiences several issues with leakage and old and worn out systems. I had the opportunity to work on the project from its early SD and DD stages. I worked alongside two of my principals, a project manager, and a job captain to tackle the weekly submissions to the mayor for approval and progress.

NORTHEAST METRO. HIGH SCHOOL The Northeast Metro. High School project is a proposal submitted to MSBA to replace the existing school. The existing school doesn’t meet the requirements and density of the community anymore and has deteriorated over the years. The high school is set to provide for over 10 different communities in the area and will feature various retail and hands-on programs that students can take. I had the opportunity to work on the proposal, producing various graphics and renderings for the intervi. I worked alongside the director of design and other interns to produce 3 different site options; 2 new buildings and 1 add/reno option.
