This Margaret River savvy has been partially fermented in oak to add complexity to the lemony/snow-pea characters of the fruit. An austere acid style that is dynamite with a plate of quickly seared scallops and a green salad.

Clown Fish 2011 Margaret River $18.99 single Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Wirra Wirra 2010 Church Block
Made from biodynamic-grown and low-yielding vines this youngster displays citrus and gooseberry fruit characters and is very dry and austere with tingling crisp acidity, qualities that equip it well as an aperitif. The other option is to serve it with crunchy battered whiting fillets.
A blend of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot delivers spice, plums, leafiness and licorice in this young vibrant McLaren Vale red. Toss in a little toasty oak and you have a complete wine that drinks well now and has aging ability as well. Pick a cool day and serve with a sticky yummy oxtail stew.

La Boheme 2012 Act Three
What a difference a year makes! This is from a cool wet vintage and shows peppery savoury characters, a medium body and good length and not the normal strength and ripeness of a warm dry vintage. Terrific with a grilled T-bone and potato salad.
By De Bortoli of the Yarra Valley, this is made from pinot gris and a couple of other aromatic white varieties which results in a full wine of good colour, depth of flavour, with a gentle soft finish. Would work wonders with a chicken salad.

Brilliant light red colour with the juicy red berry fruit along with some light spicy oak, earthy characters and good length. Well packaged and priced, you’d be hopping mad (sorry) if you didn’t buy a couple of bottles of this. Absolutely mandatory with a bunny casserole - we’re deadly serious.
Howard Park 2012 Miamup Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
$21.99 single
This has a lively tropical fruit lift to the grassy, citrus components of the two varieties and a long zesty acidic finish. An absolute treat when accompanying a grilled fillet of white reef fish with a crunchy salad.

Mid ruby in colour, this Margaret River red has a bucket load of regional characters – blackcurrant, olive and eucalypt along with the winemaker’s stamp of cedary oak and firm tannins. A slow-roasted shoulder of lamb is a winner with this.

Petaluma 2011 White Label Chardonnay
$22.99 single
Adelaide Hills is the home of this wine, a leaner style of chardonnay with subtle oak, citrus, stone fruit and a bracing acid finish. Magic with a plump breast of chicken gently poached in stock, served with fluffy boiled rice.

Cleverly named, this trinity of varieties offers rustic earthy flavours along with plummy fruit and gravelly tannins coming together as one big generous, savoury red wine. Has a little cellaring time ahead of it, if you wish. Grilled snaggers and caramelised fried onion please!
Seppelt Salinger NV Select Cuvée
$22.99 single
The first non-vintage Salinger is a very tidy wine. It’s bright, lively and fresh with stone fruit and citrus coupled to some gentle yeast maturation complexity. Light and refreshing, it has a lovely long creamy palate that stretches to a crisp and dry finish. Tantalising with feather-light crisp tempura prawns.
Arras Brut Elite
Quality sparkler made from Tasmanian fruit. Light straw with buckets of effervescence and an attractive lacy top, the palate is long and dry. It has a riot of freshly baked bread, white peach and apple characters that linger to a refreshing crunching acidity. Sensational with a plate of freshly-made sushi.
