A distinguished label that is in its 200th year of Champagne making and that’s only one reason for cracking open a bottle. It’s also fantastic fizz with subtle white stone fruit, fresh brioche complexity and has a long dry cleansing palate. Elegant and classy.

Warner Glen Estate 2011 Chardonnay

Big bold Barossa shiraz from the colour to the chalky tannic finish. There are buckets of sweet vanilla oak, anise spice, earthiness and ripe plum and then richness and concentration that come from a quality vintage.

Mid straw with a green tinge, this hand-picked Margaret River wine has aromas of grapefruit blossom and roasted nuts and a palate of citrus and stone fruit with spicy oak, butterscotch and a firm drying finish. Complex wine, excellent with chicken or veal.

You’ll see a bundle of tropical fruit in this youngster along with a more austere herbal character for interest and then a squeeze of lime juice for a sharp finish. The wine is long and dry and a great foil for a plate of freshly-shucked salty oysters.

Grant Burge 2009 The Holy Trinity GSM

A blend of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot delivers spice, plums, leafiness and licorice in this young vibrant McLaren Vale red. Toss in a little toasty oak and you have a complete wine that drinks well now and has aging ability as well.

A great vintage in the south-east corner of SA ensures that all the necessary ingredients are in this young cabernet. You’ll see ripe tannins, fleshy berry flavours, balanced acidity and a dollop of oak that adds a complexing toasty component and pulls the wine together.

Cleverly named, this trinity of varieties offers rustic earthy flavours along with plummy fruit and gravelly tannins coming together as one big generous and savoury red wine. Has a little cellaring time ahead of it, if you wish.

Quality sparkler made from Tasmanian fruit. Light straw with buckets of effervescence and an attractive lacy top, the palate is long and dry and has a riot of freshly baked bread, white peach and apple characters that linger to a refreshing crunching acidity.
