Beervana Book of Brews

Page 1

LIQUORLAND IS PROUD to be sponsoring Beervana 2013,

as we feel it is the optimal showpiece for the New Zealand craft beer industry. The event itself is very special, and is undoubtedly the highlight on any craft beer connoisseur’s calendar. With this in mind, we are bringing a little bit of Beervana to every Liquorland throughout the country – so everyone can enjoy and understand the beers and breweries that are forging such strong reputations in New Zealand. This Book of Brews is your personal guidebook to the New Zealand craft beer landscape. Together with the team from Beervana 2013, we’ve hand-selected 27 beers from 20 different breweries to showcase the best from the 2013 event. We’ve also taken the opportunity to devise a NZ craft beer tasting guide to help you decide which beer suits your palate best. The selection of beers are classified as either Gateway, Artisan or Cult based on their flavour profile, style, ingredients and brewing process. If you’re new to craft beer, we suggest you start off with a number of Gateway brews then work your way on to Artisan. If you love hoppy beers and are a self-confessed craft beer adorer, then the Cult beers we have available will be right up your alley! We salute all those that attended Beervana 2013 and trust you enjoyed yourselves. For those that couldn’t attend, we hope you enjoy the little piece of Beervana we’ve bought to your local Liquorland, and look forward to giving you all the help you need.

Cheers, The Team at Liquorland

STYLE PROFILE This is our interpretation of an authentically brewed Indian Pale Ale. We increased the non carbonate water hardness, lowered our mash PH and produced a highly attenuated copper coloured beer that is loaded with hops. The 90 minute boil and Pacific Jade hops contribute a credible level of bitterness and the late hop addition imparts flavours aligned with the English hop varietals used at the time.
