Sunburn is a very complicated problem that arises during summers. The heat of the sun forces people to cover up their bodies while going out. However, sun burn can occur any time of the year, as it happens mainly due to the exposure towards ultra violet rays of the sun. When the skin is exposed towards the UV rays, melanin in the top layer of the skin rises up. This pigment is responsible for the darkening of the skin. The tan caused due to over production of melanin is due to the reason that this dark pigment works as a shield, and saves the deeper layers from the sun. #1 Yogurt
Yogurt is rich in enzymes and probiotics that heal the skin. Yogurt can be directly applied to the affected are. Keep it for at least 5 minutes, and wash it off with cool water.
#2 Potato Potato is very beneficial in reducing skin irritations, inflammation and burns. Juice of potato as well as slice can be used. You can blend the potato and extract juice from it. Apply this juice on the affected area, with the help of a cotton swab.
#3 Cold Milk Compress Milk is also beneficial in reducing skin irritations, and helps in improving the skin tone. A towel or a compress could be used to soak in cold milk. Wrap this towel around the affected are and press gently. You can keep it on your skin as long as it is required.
#4 Baking Soda/Corn starch
Baking soda or corn starch can do wonders in providing relief to the skin. It is easily available at home, and can be easily used. Add cool water to corn starch and make a thick paste. Apply this paste to cover affected area.

#6 Green Tea and Mint Mint provides cooling effect and also repairs the damaged skin. Boil some water in the pan and add green tea bags to it. Add 3 cups of fresh mint leaves to this water. Keep it aside for an hour, and after that soak a towel in the liquid and apply on the affected area.
#7 Aloe Vera Using Aloe Vera is a very herbal and natural remedy for any kind of skin related problems. You can slit the aloe leaves and take out gel from them. Apply this gel directly on the sunburn area. You can also use store packed aloevera gel.
#8 Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar has many qualities that provide the smoothness and softness of skin. It helps to heal the sunburns. You can fill a spray bottle with vinegar and use it over the affected area after taking only water shower.
#9 Hazel The leaves bark and twigs of the witch hazel plants are used for the medicinal purposes. They contain tannins, which helps in skin repair and cleaning off the bacteria. Witch hazel is the distilled liquid that can be directly applied to affected are with the help of cotton swab.
#10 Cucumber Cucumber is rich in analgesic and antioxidant properties. It provides relief from the pain and discomfort of sunburn. You can use the slices of cucumber to apply on sunburn or you can also make paste.
