Visiting South Africa in the winter, worth it or not?
Winter is not necessarily a bad time in Africa. So below is a little guide that could help in planning your trip. There are six most popular regions covered below:
Johannesburg Most of the tourist attractions in Johannesburg are indoor activities. Even so winters are very pleasant here it’s cool and there is minimal rainfall. The land turns very picturesque.
Durban Durban is the Miami of South Africa. The temperature is mild land rainfall is bare minimum .it’s the type of hot that won’t cause any sunburns.
Kruger national park Winter might be the best time to visit there little rainfall and due to the sparseness of trees you have a better chance of spotting wildlife than in summers but morning and evenings can get a little chilly.
Cape Town Visiting Cape Town in winters is not a very good idea because most of their tourists spots are outdoors and while indoor activities are present but they are limited and you would not want to be stuck indoors here.
Garden route It has many diverse beautiful landscapes and since the winters here are rainy you might get stuck inside and so visiting here in winter is not recommended.
Stellenbosch
It has a very beautiful landscape with vineyards and White Mountains. The mountains are a must see if you visit here.
The bottom line In the end travelling to South Africa might be risky in Western Cape but can be amazing in other parts of the country but keep in mind that anything can happen as nothing is set in stone you might arrive here on a beautiful day and spend the rest of the trip stuck in your hotel due to rain.
