Walkway Over the Hudson Welcome Center An iconic facility that connects the 212ft pedestrian walkway to the Hudson river The historic park, "The Walkway," is an old railroad bridge that spans across the Hudson River and was converted into a public walkway in 2008.The "Dutchess Rail Trail" is a twelve mile multi-use linear park that keeps expanding and currently runs through four towns. A trailhead facility would be a logical solution in order to tie together these two continuous trails. The facility will help to educate the visitors about the pollution and help to promote the clean-up of the river. A trailhead facility would help promote more public use, create more revenue and educate visitor on the rich history of the area and the Hudson River. Photoshop, and Revit were used to show the design graphically.

BUFFALO PLACE THEATER The Art Of Drag On the corner of Main Street and Pearl Street in the city of Buffalo is the site used to further the development of the Theater District. The theater type was selected to best suit the needs of the city by providing a theater not already found in the city. Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop, and Revit were used to show the design graphically.
The site is located in downtown Buffalo, New York where in recent years the Theater District has boomed. The proposal for this site is a modern twist to the ancient Japanese art of Kabuki. In Kabuki all the roles are played by males because women were considered inferior. The inspiration for this theater was from Kabuki and Marcello’s a Drag Queen Lounge located a block from the site. The concept from the theater was a form within another, that everything isn’t exactly as it may appear. The exterior is very linear and box like. After entering the space the linear walls start to transform into curved walls that give the illusion of movement. Another concept that is suddenly expressed with the exterior is a crown, which relates to the queen in Drag Queen/King. The first level has a horizontal brick pattern that represents the banding of a crown. Moving up the buildings exterior is covered with a grid pattern of metal cladding which resembles the jewels in a crown. Protruding through the roof is a corrugated metal, curved form that highlights the theater space, this emulates the height of a crown. The Art Of Drag is a theater where Drag Queen/King pageants, plays, as well as acts would take place. Do to the specific type of theater booth seating was used to create a more relaxed lounge atmosphere.

JOSANA NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING Designing a single family house that adapts to different families and their needs. The goal of Josana Neighborhood Housing was to design an inexpensive single family home in a low income neighborhood in Rochester, New York. The layout of the house is simple, SIP paneling was used for builder friendly construction. Also sustainable materials help to maintain an inexpensive cost. The office on the first floor can be converted into a bedroom providing easy living for someone older or in a wheelchair. Microsoft Publisher and Revit were used to show the design graphically.

MAIN STREET INFILL ALFRED NY 1,3,5 Main Street, Alfred Proposal The main objective was to design a three story building with retail space on the first floor and apartments on the second and third floors. To maximize revenue the retail floor plan was designed into two separate store fronts. A florist and chocolate shop were selected to supply the small town of Alfred with businesses which are not currently available. Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop, and Revit were used to show the design graphically.

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF CERAMIC ARTS The need for an international museum of ceramic arts for the Alfred University ceramic program. The museum’s site was on Alfred Universities campus across the street from the ceramic studio. It is programed for both public and academic use, the museum has public galleries, a café, an administration suite, as well as lecture rooms for Alfred University classes. Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop, and Revit were used to show the design graphically.

TILT-UP TRAINING CENTER Tilt-Up Concrete Student Design Contest The Tilt-Up Concrete Association hosted an international competition to design a concrete classroom complex. The building’s main focuses were sustainability, originality of concept, and utilizing Tilt-Up construction in innovative ways. This was a partner project in which responsibilities for design and expressing our ideas graphically were shared. Microsoft Publisher, Revit, and hand rendered on vellum with colored pencils and markers were used to show the design graphically.
Bamboo veneer casted into the concrete panels. Brick veneer to match the existing building. Greenscreen trellis system.

Concepts The kitchen is located close to the classroom, - Serving bar in the lobby to maximize kitchen space - Better accommodate catering activities Lobby showcases mechanical systems - Retractable projection screen Modular furniture in classroom to make it multifunctional - Cork Board wall for pin up space - Projection screen for demonstrations LEED Platinum Certification - Solar panels as the main energy source - Solatube throughout the building to disperse nature light to help illuminate the spaces - Rainwater catchment system to supply the water needed for the facility - Green roof to reduce urban heat effect and cool the interior of the building - Takagi tank-less water heater, which is an efficient means to heat the water for the sinks as well as heating the radiant floor heating circuit - Composting toilet

COMMERICAL STOREFRONT & APARTMENTS A multi-use building with an architecture firm and apartments This was a partner project to design an architectural firm in Alfred, New York. The program also included apartments to gain extra revenue. Eric Spas and I collectively designed and expressed our ideas graphically. Revit was used to generate the plans, renderings, and construction drawings graphically.

ASC MODULA SITE FURNITURE An iconic outdoor modular furniture designed for Alfred State College. Alfred State College has a wide variety of majors and the concept of this design is to incorporate Technology, Agriculture and Architecture as a way of "Going Green." The mostly steel structure helps accent surrounding building faรงades while being appreciative of the technology that was put behind the production of such pieces. The partially grass canopy lets in natural light above the occupants.The runoff from the glass is collected in a gutter system, which is housing the plants that cover the Greenscreen Trellis. The plants continue downward through two support columns. The design is mostly open on the sides to allow for the different climates of Alfred to enter, while the canopy provides protection for occupants.This design draws from Alfred State's history while welcoming the new age of technology. Microsoft Publisher, Google SketchUp, hand rendered with colored pencils and markers were used to show the design graphically.

ARCHITECT RESEARCH & FAUX FAÇADE A study of Eric Owen Moss’s style of architecture, a faux façade was designed in his manner. Three boards contain some brief information on Moss. The use of the building that the façade is for is unknown. This project was more of an exercise to break down an architects style and interpret it. Some of Moss’s work was found to be unsettling at times. That uneasy feeling was a key idea behind the design of the façade. Mixing materials was also seen in most of Moss’s works. Microsoft Publisher, AutoCAD, hand rendered with colored pencils was used to show the façade graphically. A laser cutter printer and Strathmore was used to make the relief model.

VALENTINO FASHION STUDIO The first part of this exercise was to create studies for fashion designer’s garments. Each of the three garments have a line structure study, line texture study, a shade and shadow study. All garments also have a color study and fabric swatches. An abstract study model was also created from the designer’s garments.These studies helped to create a base for the design on the high end fashion studio. The studies are on vellum with graphite, inking pens, markers, and colored pencils. The model is made from thin Strathmore.

The last part was to design a fashion studio for that high end designer.
Valentino is famous for customizing a specific shade of red called Valentino Red. This was used as a key element throughout the studio, The color scheme was neutrals and naturals plus one, the Valentino Red.Valentino’s garments are also very classical, the studio also has a roman classical feel with the textures and columns. Some modern and clean furniture help to keep the attention on the garments while still adding a luxurious feel to the space. The runway is custom made to create an intimate runway show with various views from one seat. It also is compact to utilize space wisely. A number of resources were used to show the space graphically such as; Revit, hand rendering with markers and colored pencils, and hand drafting with ink.

ENGINEERING BUILDING AT ALFRED STATE Redesign of the Engineering building at Alfred State College. The color scheme is bright and fun because the areas redesigned are mostly used by interior design, architecture, and digital media majors. A company called Pink Inc. was used. They have different fabric shapes that could be silk screen with various department information.The fabric is found throughout the building to tie it all together. Bold color help create a lively space with a sense of energy. The studio spaces are kept more neutral to prevent distraction. These ideas are expresses graphically using; AutoCAD, hand drafting, rendering with markers and colored pencils.

INSURANCE COMPANY Requirements for a certain number of employees, who had specific requirements. The building was an empty shell with support columns throughout, this created an obstacle that was to be worked out. There is a circulation implied through the space using a central focused area with a drop ceiling. The floor materials varied to enhance the idea of different spaces in an open area. Neutral plus two is the color scheme which makes it professional without being dull. Google SketchUp, AutoCAD, and hand rendering with hand drafting is use to express the design idea graphically.
The Program had requirements for a certain number of employees and had specific requirements for each type of employee.

ALFRED UNIVERSITY CHAPEL The need for a non-denominational chapel for the Alfred University campus. Stained glass sun and circular form were used to represent divinity. The stained glass sun is the focal point of the interior. Its located inside protected by a curtain wall, while light still passes through it. Drafted on vellum with inking pens, study models made from chipboard and foam core.
