Invitation to ‘Teaching Using Case Workshop’ Presented by Professor Karla Johnstone Accounting & Information Systems, University of Winconsin

Professor Karla Johnstone is a specialist in audit research and teaching. She is the lead author on the auditing text ‘Auditing: A Risk-Based Approach to Conducting a Quality Audit’ 9th edition. At the University of Winconsin – Madison she teaches undergraduate and graduate-level auditing and has been doing so for the last 15 years. At the undergraduate level, she uses a mix of lecture and case-based approaches. At the graduate level, she uses a heavily case-based approach. Sample syllabi are attached for you to gain a sense of the topical content, grading and organisation of these courses. Also attached is a case that Karla and a colleague developed based on a complex audit judgement task from real audit practise. Professor Johnstone serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals, and is active in the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association. The workshop includes a discussion on her teaching perspectives and will allow plenty of time for a question-answer session.
