ABOUT US: The Youth Arts Hub is a pilot project initiated by The Newbiggin Portas Town Team as part of the Mary Portas pilot. Members of The Town Team include Newbiggin Town Council, Northumberland County Council, Newbiggin Forward, Newbiggin Maritime Centre, St Bartholomew and residents of Newbiggin by the Sea. The Youth Hub is an extended partnership between the members of the Town Team as well as bringing together BVAL, QHA'S arts development team, Northumberland YMCA to deliver the project. BVAL Blyth Valley Arts & Leisure’s Arts Development Department is responsible for projects and programmes that encourage high levels of participation and appreciation of the arts in South East Northumberland. QUEENS HALL ARTS (QHA) QHA has established itself as a strong base for an extensive range of artistic activity, attracting the best international and national artists from music, drama, dance and national touring comedy to non professional shows put on by local community groups. They also deliver an extensive strategic and outreach service bringing workshops and performances to communities throughout Northumberland. They are funded by Northumberland County Council and Arts Council England. YMCA NORTHUMBERLAND YMCA Northumberland is a charitable organization led by staff and volunteers who believe that all young people deserve to have a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their potential. There is an exciting new development in the Newbiggin Mary Portas Town Team projects. We are very happy to announce that a Youth Arts Hub will be developed out of the Arts centre on Woodhorn road. This will give a voice for the young people of the area and a dedicated and safe Arts and social space to create, express ideas and issues and challenge perspectives on Newbiggin, youth culture and the arts.
