Coast and Castles Cycle Challenge A group of youngsters have used pedal power to travel down the coast of Northumberland this summer. Starting from Berwick, the youngsters cycled along the Coast and Castles cycle route taking in some of the best views Northumberland has to offer including Bamburgh and Warkworth castles. The group maintained a steady pace throughout finishing ahead of schedule, they were met by friends and family at Church Point, Newbiggin having cycled over 80 miles in two days. The challenge was completed by 10 young people from Newbiggin and Seaton Valley, with training and support provided by Active Northumberland’s Make-a-Move team. Club News Go Run For Fun Northumberland Athletics Network (NAN) hosted the very first “GO RUN FOR FUN” event, a National campaign aiming to inspire children to be active, promote health awareness & help maintain children’s enthusiasm for sport following the inspiration from London 2012. Over 100 young people received a free pink t-shirt and race number as part of the registration process. All runners took part in a warm up conducted by GRFF Activators before the Fun Run was started by International Athlete, John Mayock. Organised as a piliot, the event was good preparation for the National launch and it’s success will hopefully lead to future Go Run for Fun events in Morpeth. Congratulations to Northumberland Athletics Network for the hard work carried out to ensure this opportunity was accessible to young people in Northumberland. The Go Run for Fun project is managed by Nova in partnership with INEOS. For more information click here.
