Welcome to Lisboa! Atelier Natália Gromicho is honored to host the 2nd edition of Lisbona Contemporanea (Lisboa Contemporânea). Having represented so far 560 artists, our main goal is to promote international contemporary creators. The selection of the participants was carefully done within a six months preparation period and curated by Marta Lock. "The idea is simple, make a private space into an open space, without limitation to any type of audience, without obstacles, without barriers. Anyone can see, taste, touch, paint. Atelier Natalia Gromicho = experience, knowledge, ART. ” Atelier Natalia Gromicho is situated in Lisbon´s Downtown and started its activity in April 2013 with an exhibition of Natália Gromicho called "Lisboa, dignos de nota" that was her tribute to the city where she was born. The gallery is located in Espaço Chiado, a shopping center in Chiado that preserves "Muralha Fernandina", a wall that protected Lisboa from attacks during the period of the Middle Ages. Chiado is one of the most iconic and traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon, located between Bairro Alto and Downtown shopping area. Its location is very privileged, with access from the street Rua da Misericórdia or from the street Rua Nova da Trindade, right next to Trindade Theater. Despite its position on the border between the old continent and its openness to the new, Portugal has spent many years in a mode of artistic retardation due to the conservative nature of its rulers and its people, which has led the creative innovations of the twentieth century's vibrancy to reach the Lusitanian land when in the rest of Europe they had already been overtaken by other new currents. After the splendor of the Manueline style and the chromatic vivacity of the azulejios, the nation seemed to have fallen into a creative silence that began to see its reawakening at the beginning of the 20th century, with the emergence of some of the greatest names in Portuguese art such as Amedeo de Souza-Cardoso, a frequent visitor to Parisian salons, where he became friends with Modigliani and Brâncuşi, who adhered to Cubism, José de Almada Negreiros, an exponent and promoter of Modernism, and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, one of Portugal's greatest abstractionists. This initial artistic vivacity was followed by a dark period, that of Salazar's dictatorship, in which every type of cultural manifestation was stifled by the regime, from which the country managed to free itself only after forty years; in that period all artists who wanted to express themselves and continue to pursue their expressive dream were forced to flee, finding asylum in neighboring countries where they were able to build a respectable career. A great exponent of Portuguese painting, exiled to France for political reasons, was Jùlio Pomar, who initially belonged to Neo-Realism, then moved on to Neo-Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism, passing through Informalism, displaying an extraordinary chameleon-like ability that enabled him to dominate the Portuguese art scene for many years. And then Paula Rego, who emigrated to the United Kingdom and entered the School of London, where she was able to develop her themes, giving life to a singular and exciting artistic style, capable of capturing the eye of the observer both by virtue of her deformed bodies in which essence and emotion take priority over aesthetics, and by virtue of that saudade, that melancholy for episodes and landscapes of her beloved Portugal that accompanied her new life in England and which cannot fail to pervade her paintings. To confirm the extent to which female creativity has succeeded in crossing the borders of the country and establishing itself abroad, we cannot forget Lourdes de Castro, with her stylized and almost Pop Expressionism that has made her one of the most quoted artists on the world scene. In this context, initially slowed down by political reasons and by Portugal's fragile economy, those who have promoted and made modern and contemporary art accessible are the great private collectors, thanks to whom the city of Lisbon, mainly, but also Porto, have the opportunity to show the local and foreign public some of the most important collections, thanks to which it is possible to get to know and experience the world art scene of the last century and a half. The second edition of Lisbon Contemporanea is a confirmation of the success of the 2020 edition, that of the year horribilis in the history of the 21st century, which, however, saw the interest of many collectors from Lisbon, but also from abroad, thanks to the efforts of Gonzalo Madeira, curator of the Natalia Gromicho gallery, with whom we decided to repeat the experience in order to continue to show the Lusitanian public the new European artistic voices, to open a dialogue between different styles and pictorial languages, sometimes apparently in contrast with each other but in reality always in harmonious agreement, and to choose to do something to never again allow Portugal to fall into the isolation in which it has been for too many years. Twenty-one artists present, representing not only their countries of origin, but also different and multifaceted approaches to creative expression, which has never been so individualized as in our times, free from all schemes, rules and the sense of belonging to a group or movement that characterised the 20th century; as in the past, Lisbon welcomes the versatility and personalization of pictorial and sculptural figures that are captivating precisely because of their originality. Belgium, Germany, Austria, England, Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Italy, France, Greece and Poland are the countries represented in this international exhibition, as many are the styles present: Informal Art, Material Informal, Abstract Expressionism, Expressionism, Pop Digital Art, Digital Art, Neo-Impressionism, Art Singulier, Dadaism, Graffiti style. The fascination of discovery and dialogue between the various forms of expression cannot fail to captivate the gaze and fascinate visitors, who will be led to discover not only the message of the individual artist but also the cultural roots from which each draws and to give form to their own personal sensations, their deepest emotions, in a communicative beat that fills the gallery with color and emotion. A journey through art, therefore, from the south to the north of Europe, from the east to the west, to remind us that there are no borders, no distinctions, no splits, just the harmony of the single message emanating from the artworks. Aleksandra Schmidt | Germany

“My sculptures show simple abstract forms or express movement and emotions, often with a certain sense of humor.” Aleksandra "Ola" Schmidt, who grew up in Danzig, was introduced to oil painting as a child by her grandfather. She now lives near Munich, has organized several open-air exhibitions (2007-2013) a retrospective there (2017). Now she is active in the “Olchinger Kuenstler” group (15 exhibitions from 2016).She self-taught different techniques of the fine arts. For several years she has discovered concrete for herself, which can be poured, kneaded, pigmented and combined with other materials to create stable and long-lasting objects. Actually she has an exhibition in Rome and Florence.

Alina Ciuciu| Italy

The Romanian naturalized Italian Alina Ciuciu approaches the Impressionist style in a natural way, as if her inclination had pushed her towards that approach of decomposition, of subdivision of color, which in her materializes with the use of the spatula, functional to the emotional gaze that she turns to the observed world, to the small and simple moments of everyday life that for her assume importance precisely because they belong to a multi-faceted emotional world that is reassuring and enveloping. Alina Ciuciu‘s approach to the canvas is poetic, as if in her artworks the beauty of the present were superimposed on a sweet nostalgia for the past, for the history that the objects bring with them, for what they have represented in the individual’s existence and for what is reassuring and soothing; Alina Ciuciu, highly appreciated by art lovers and collectors from all over the world, has exhibited in numerous group shows in Italy and abroad – Berlin, Monte Carlo, Oradea (Transylvania), Paris, Budapest, London, Copenhagen – winning prizes and awards for the originality and atmosphere of her paintings. Angela Avenoso| Italy

Pittrice sensibile e amante delle cose semplici e della natura, si sofferma spesso nelle sue opere a riprodurre l’emozione che le suscita il proprio animo, ma ora la sua caratteristica più distintiva è un nuovo progetto di ricerca nato dall’esigenza di utilizzare nuovi materiali, in particolare granulati in ottone rame e similoro, per ottenere un equilibrio tra la forma cromatica ed i volumi, raccontando allo spettatore il proprio mondo delle idee.

Annika Korbitsch| Austria

What is art for me? The anchor that keeps me away from indifference, who protects me from blindness. A net that gives me the feeling of being carried and held. Art gives me a place in this world. I realize more and more that the challenge for me as an artist who wants to be authentic is: To keep my two souls in balance. One soul wants to dive in, to swim along, to sink into a feeling of belonging to a great whole. To peace, love, beauty, secureness, fantasy, craziness, freedom, hope, grace and joy. The other side wants to show the horror of reality - it has to! The light is not appreciated without knowing darkness. Peace is not appreciated without the despair, without the abyss, without the hopelessness. For this reason I must paint both. The war and despair within me, but also the hope of redemption. Often with my helpful friend of imagination.

Beatrice Roman| Italy

Beatrice Roman Self-taught Artist Native from Romania and resident in Italy since 1994, graduated in electrical engineering. The informal painting of Beatrice Roman is betrayed in works of strong visual impact. His first artistic compositions begin in 2003 with the desire to express his emotions in order to have feedback on his experience. She began his exhibition career in 2019 with a solo exhibition in Venice and then continued in more than 30 exhibitions in Italy and abroad: Milan, Rome, Palermo, Miami, New York, Paris, Vienna, Budapest Present with her works in more than 40 national and international catalogs. The artist uses the canvas as a theater scene by animating and stretching his inner ego. Her research decodes every feeling of free gestures, and develops his artistic work with a reasoned aesthetic perception. Innovation welcomes new ideas to enhance the unconscious. The individual path that is created in the relationship between Art and the Artist develops an avant-garde perspective.

Benoit Drouart| France

Benoît Drouart est un artiste plasticien français né en 1966, résidant dans l'Aisne, qui pratique la peinture, la sculpture, l'installation et l'illustration. Il a fondé le Collectif Autonome d'Arts Singuliers, et il est membre d'Arts Vifs Amiens, de Picardie For Ever, ainsi que des Faiseurs d'Arts à Noyon. Son travail s'articule autour de la mémoire collective, des civilisations en mutation, d'une réflexion sur l'individu contemporain, si isolé dans un monde pourtant hyperconnecté. Héritier de la Figuration libre, classé « artiste singulier » par les historiens d'Art, il figure des mondes chancelants et des humains à la marge du système. Ses sculptures composites et ses installations font naître des idoles païennes et des monstres hybrides rappelant les origines sauvages de l'homme. L'artiste nous invite alors à questionner le terme de « civilisation » pour désigner ce qui étouffe et annihile les racines ancestrales essentielles de chacun. Benoit est présent dans deux galeries de sa région en Picardie, il expose en France, mais aussi à l'étranger, en Angleterre, en Croatie, au Montenegro, et vend son travail aux USA.Il est aussi professeur d'Arts plastiques, conseiller artistique pour une fondation privé et pour la galerie Artech Corner à Noyon dans l'Oise. Son travail ne se résume pas à la peinture et à la sculpture, il crée des décors pour des troupes d'Arts de rue, illustre des livres et produit, avec son groupe, des oeuvres de Street-Art.Il doit être l'invité du festival international d'Art contemporain de Kotor au Monténegro cet été, et un livre est en préparation sur sa carrière en France.Son atelier est un lieu d'exposition et de création collective dans l'Aisne en France.

Doina Popescu | Romania-Belgium

Doina Popescu is a self-taught artist. Romanian born, currently based in the cosmopolite Brussels. She has been awarded international art prizes and she has exhibited in many countries in Europe and United States of America. Her works hang in private collections and are featured by international art catalogues. One of her artworks is part of the permanent collection of the European Art Museum, Denmark. In 2020 she got the highest number of votes from the public in the Global Art Awards. Nature, human feelings and spirituality are her main sources of inspiration. While her analytical background has its origins in her Mathematics and Communication university studies, her genuine and diversified creativity has grown over years and as of 2016, she expresses visually by colorful creations (most of them 3D organic artworks).

Elena Rizzardi | Italy

Nata a Besnate (VA) 1962 Consegue il diploma di maturità artistica negli anni ottanta. Fin dall’età di sei anni ha manifestato il desiderio di dipingere partecipando a corsi di pittura. Elena Rizzardi, artista lombarda di grande talento interpretativo, scopre prestissimo la propria inclinazione verso l’arte, prediligendo inizialmente l’uso di olio e acrilico per dare sfogo all’esigenza di raccontarsi e svelarsi nelle sue tele; successivamente e anche in virtù della sua professione di arredatrice d’interni, alla fine anni 90 si avvicina all’Informale Materico usando tessuti d’arredamento, materiali riciclati, stucchi e gessi. Nel corso della sua carriera di arredatrice di interni ha collaborato con architetti e designers di fama internazionale e ha potuto unire le sue due passioni per dar vita a uno stile personale apprezzatissimo dai collezionisti, infatti le sue opere sono esposte presso showroom e residenze private di prestigio soprattutto all’estero – Singapore, Dubai, Londra, Lisbona, Atene, Ginevra, Lugano, Cannes – dandole la possibilità di abbinarle a grandi spazi con arredi di design moderno, coordinandole con colori e materiali personalizzati e amalgamandole con l’arredo stesso.

Elke Dabisch| Germany

I see art as a contribution to culture. I am unconsciously inspired by world events and reproduce them in my works. I interpret them from my feelings and let them guide me. I am happy to be able to create art and to see it as a great gift. I use different materials such as acrylic, oil, watercolor and textured paste. I use watercolour paper and mainly canvas in different sizes. I keep reinventing myself in my art and find it very exciting.

Enrico Tubertini | Italy

From an early age I was fascinated by color and its shades, then with the approach to the photographic world I discovered the black and white that made everything clearer, sharper. But it was the cinema, the images in movement that made me better understand the beauty of the contrasts and the depth of the chromatic spaces. Reworking the images, creating other worlds made me understand more how fictitious and personal actually is what we see and how little sense it has to recre the reality so as it is. "While you're at it, change it, but do it with gusto". The shapes that strike me, I photograph them, transform them, live them and use them in my digital palette. In this way I create portraits, using the world of people and my personographies from a distance look like a portrait while up close they are an history of the person depicted.

Gabriele Springer | Germany

No fixed style - open to everything new and interesting. I'm most interested in human beings as they have two faces. One face for themselves and another one for the outside world. To me it is very exciting to discover the "inner self". What's moving, feeling and living inside. To expose a human beings psyche. Exciting. Psyche is ancient greek and translates to breath. This little breath is what i try to capture with my paintings. The psyche is what turns a human to life, distinctive, different from others. It includes everything, what we feel, what we sence, how we experience and process it. The psyche - the soul - influences our whole life. I paint in the night. It has its own rules, a special atmosphere. Far from everyday life, the night creates space for EVERYTHING. I sink into canvas and paint ... forget everything around me ... The phase of excitement begins: is it possible to fill the empty, white canvas with life? Painting is my life. It belongs to me. This is me. Life is Beautiful!

L’interesse per l’arte è nata fin da piccolo consigliato in parte da un “accademico di belle arti” Nato ad Avellino (Italia) vivo tra Romania e Italia precedentemente in Tunisia. Direttore e Amministratore di Azienda Collaboratore di un ente di promozione artistica La collaborazione con enti , artisti e critici d’arte stranieri , ha arricchito il percorso presentando le opere in vari expo in Tunisia Romania e Italia in parte anche in altre nazioni soprattutto in Ungheria. Varie citazioni su giornali televisioni e attestati con premi L’incrocio tra legno ferro pittura e resine ha contribuito ad ampliare la potenza espressiva dell’arte, permettendomi qualche invasione nel “design” dove ho arredato vari negozi e uno studio televisivo.

Hasti Sardashti | England

An Iranian born artist living in London. She is like a river; always moving, exploring new areas, adjusting her speed to external and internal circumstances, wanting to nurture but also can contain destruction, filling the gaps , and drifting into the deep of the earth below or into the light air above her. Making art for her seems to be an attempt to stay in here & now -a vital practice to maintain stability, and calm in her daily life. Making art is for Hasti like belonging to a place, having a home , like having a space where she can connect to the most genuine of herself and her immediate existence.

Ioannis Kaiserlis | Greece

My background lies in modern building construction and Interior Design. It was only natural that I was to be fascinated by the language of the abstract expressionism and its immediacy. All my energy, knowledge, experience and sensitivity went into the art of painting. My art, is my search for the truth, as well as my effort to capture the worlds of both the material and the invisible. Maria Stamati | Greece

I am interested in expressing myself artistically into the innerness of people, the relationships between them and the true events, working daily on meanings, thoughts and concerns. I believe that art research can infiltrate deeper fields and the art language can express fields beyond words. Marijana Vukovic | Austria

Marijana Vukovic is an artist from Austria. Born on 10.04.1974 in Bruck an der Mur. Abstract expressionism is her kind of painting style. Many international art exhibitions in several countries. Has gotten Art critics from international critic from Italy. Won the Raffaelo Prize from Venice 2020. Participation as the only Austrian artist at the international art exhibition: “Homage to Kandinsky” in Venice 2020. Cover photo for an art newspaper called “Pappel Blatt” autumn 2020. Her work, “Garden Eden” is pictured in the latest book by a writer from Vienna. Future projects include a solo exhibition in October 2021 in Vienna. Marijana Vukovic actively supports for two years with her art many charitable projects and shows great Commitment to environmental protection, animal welfare, artist in need and cancer diseases.

Marius Ashblow | Italy

Marius Ashblow was born and lives in Turin (Italy) He started using paint programs to express his emotions. Mike Ferrell | England

In my work I endeavour to portray life in a positive light, to show the love I have for the world, its cultures and the environment in which we all live. The interpretation between colour, texture and the way that people interact with their surroundings are very important to me. If in my own way I can use my art to bring love, happiness, and the appreciation of life into the lives of people who see my work then I have achieved my goal. In the end it is up to the individual. I work in oils, watercolours, inks and pastels. I do not like to tie myself down to any one media or subject matter.

Osvaldo Moi | Italy

Nato a Silius (Cagliari), il 14 settembre 1961, geniale, ironico, instancabile, poliedrico, sin da piccolo ha mostrato uno spiccato interesse per il disegno e la scultura, creando oggetti dalle forme stravaganti. Come lui stesso ha dichiarato: “il disegno ha sempre rappresentato una necessità viscerale. Le prime sculture le ho realizzate in prima elementare, in classe, lontano dallo sguardo della maestra; smontavo la lama del temperino e la usavo per intagliare le matite”. Nel mondo ironico, bizzarro le mie Escargot allegre un po pop, arrivano ovunque e nel loro percorso espositivo, sono comparse nel 2017 al Guggenheim di New York, al Palazzo di Vetro dell'ONU a Time Square a New York ecc. Ha esposto in Italia a Torino, Milano, Genova, in Francia a Sant Paul de Vence, Eze, Honfleure, Parigi, Germania, Francoforte, Guggenheim di New York, al Palazzo di Vetro dell’ONU Le sue opere sono realizzate privilegiando il bronzo, i legni pregiati, la vetroresina, le resine epossidiche e il plexiglas. Tra le sue opere il Monumento ai Caduti di Nassirya, realizzato in tre esemplari che si trovano a Torino, Novara e a Pienezza, è stato intagliato in legno di rovere dei Balcani e poi realizzato in bronzo. La sua prima mostra si svolse a Parigi nel 2008 e la organizzò dal Libano a Beiruth. In quella occasione espose la prima delle “sue” escargot ossia chiocciole con la parte anteriore del corpo a forma di mano maschile che imita il gesto delle corna, vedendole ed immaginandole vive, sono degli esseri che adattano la loro casa, la conchiglia, con ciò che trovano in giro, quindi, sono realizzate di tessuto resinato arrotolato, copie di lattine, cappottini in lana, dadi da gioco, copia di tazza del latte. Osvaldo Moi non realizza mai i bozzetti, parte da un idea viva reale che vede ad occhi aperti e le realizza. A volte osservando dei semplici legni, immagina la scultura che si può realizzare e cerca di concretizzarla.

Raspu Paola | Italy

Creatività, fantasia, spirito di Libertà appartengono a questa Artista, dove ad oggi con un dettato pittorico teso alla Felicità, con le sue Opere colorate che raccontano storie, favole ci ispira, trasportandoci in mondi onirici che comunicano Emozioni. La Ricerca della propria Umanità è l’unica cosa davvero importante per questa Artista Italiana, che vive e dipinge nella sua casa/studio di Sulmona. (Abruzzo) Attraverso questa intenzione di suscitare in noi Emozioni, attraverso le sue Opere, ci viene così trasmessa un importante eredità di Spirito ; energia creativa che viene dal profondo dell’anima e che, con gestualità spontanea, i personaggi di queste Favole e Racconti prendono vita. Un Coraggio di realizzazione e di percorso personale che ha portato l’Artista alla scoperta di se stessa in quella purezza della propria ed Unica Bellezza. Difatti alla domanda “di come si diventa Felici ?” , lei ama rispondere : “Dopo sfide continue, atti di coraggio, illuminando il mio ambiente, manifestando il mio vero Io, la mia individualità e unicità. Storie, racconti, favole, nascono in me e si mostrano sulle mie tele. Una, due …. Mille storie, una diversa dall’altra in una misura infinita, come questa mia Felicità di essere IO oggi bella così come sono”

Petite Fille des hautes pyrenees toujours un crayon a la main ou un bout de bois dans.la terre pour dessiner ou creer qq chose ..à 12 ans je gagne un concours de graffitti à l ecole et là ,même timide,je commence à croire en qq chose ..ça me plaît ...maintenant ..je vis au pays basque depuis 10 ans et depuis 10 ans je peins. Virginie vik est mon nom de peintre. Je travaille à l intuition ,sans écoles d art ni de formation, je peins avec le coeur et beaucoup de couleurs . Je me suis formée à l art thérapie. Ma.peinture est très vive ,colorée . Je suis animée par l amour des amerindiens à la base et mon travail à évolué sur un style plus contemporain avec le temps .Des visages de femmes ,beaucoup de forêts tropicales et de mondes aquatiques . Gesiha time est à la base un monde aquatique plein de poissons colorés et paisibles en fond et puis, transformés en kimono de geisha,la douceur de l 'eau purifiante ,la force et la.sensualite d une geisha ..une histoire d amour . Mon style se conjugue entre graffitis et atmospheres ethniques .
