“CMA Country Christmas” (Sunday, Dec. 22, ABC): It’s been shown a couple of times already this season, but this latest installment of the annual special — with host Jennifer Nettles introducing Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Rascal Flatts and others — provides an instant, pleasant roundup of sounds of the season. “The Wizard of Oz” (Sunday, TNT): It had a 3-D and IMAX retrofitting recently, but there’s something comforting about going “Over the Rainbow” with the Judy Garland-starring 1939 classic at home. “The Sound of Music” (Sunday, ABC): Carrie Underwood did a televised live staging recently, but this Oscar-winning 1965 screen version of the musical offers Julie Andrews’ take on the character Maria that is beloved by several generations. “White Christmas” (Monday, Dec. 23, AMC): Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye make a delightful team in the 1954 movie classic infused with Irving Berlin songs. “Shrek the Halls” (Monday, ABC): It’s holiday time for the ogre (voiced again by Mike Myers), Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz),

Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and their friends in this animated special. “The Polar Express” (Monday, ABC Family): Thanks to motion-capture animation, Tom Hanks plays several roles in director Robert Zemeckis’ genuinely magical 2004 version of the Chris Van Allsburg book. “A Christmas Carol” (Tuesday, Dec. 24, Turner Classic Movies): Reginald Owen makes one of the screen’s very best Scrooges in this 1938 rendering of the Charles Dickens classic. “It’s a Wonderful Life” (Tuesday, NBC): Another holiday movie tradition, director Frank Capra’s 1946 classic stars James Stewart as seemingly hapless George Bailey, whose plight helps angel Clarence (Henry Travers) earn his wings. “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” (Wednesday, Dec. 25, ABC): Music and merriment fill the tourist destinations again, as Mickey Mouse and company offer their yuletide best. “Michael Buble’s 3rd Annual Christmas Special” (Wednesday, NBC):Yes, it’s just what the title says as singer Buble marks the occasion with guests Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Cookie Monster.

Yes, she was ... which is precisely why the CBS series’ producers did it, to hear them tell it. They wanted to shake things up, and actress Taraji P. Henson maintains it was the intent from the start to eliminate her character at this point — though others, including fellow “Interest” stars Jim Caveizel and Michael Emerson, didn’t know until filming of the crucial episode began. It’s possible that Carter could reappear, but it would be in flashbacks. Has the program “Suits” been canceled? I haven’t been able to locate it for the past month. — Pat Ketterer, Reynoldsburg, Ohio As is mentioned frequently here about cable series, they often break up their seasons, with shows returning several months after the first half of their seasons end. So it is with “Suits,” which is in the middle of its third round. USA Network expects to bring it back right after the Winter Olympics ... especially since Michael Phelps will turn up in the course of the season’s six remaining episodes. Even after those are done, “Suits” won’t be going away permanently. USA already has renewed the series — a strong performer ratingswise, particularly when both broadcast and cable series are considered — for a Season 4, to begun running in mid2014. Do you know what happened to “Hostages”? We were having it taped, and after two or three shows, it disappeared. — Zelda Bokelmann, Port St. Lucie, Fla. does have holiday pre-emptions for the next two weeks, largely for the benefit of fans of the highly serialized drama who may have seasonal plans, then returns with a two-hour season finale Jan. 6. Otherwise, CBS has left the series in place on Mondays, precisely because it is so serialized and pretty much demands that sort of consistent telecast pattern. Even with that, the network tried throughout the fall to get more people involved in it, stressing in ads that it wasn’t “too late” to viewers who might have thought they’d missed the boat. Will “Twisted” be returning anytime soon? — Wendy Morrison, Buffalo, N.Y. Reasonably soon. The ABC Family drama will resume its first season Feb. 11, a little later than originally planned. The show initially was supposed to be back on Jan. 7, but the network ultimately decided to bring back “Ravenswood” then instead, so that series could benefit from being partnered with parent show “Pretty Little Liars” on the same night. It’s a shame that Whoopi Goldberg can’t have her documentary on Moms Mabley on a moreviewed station. I would love to see it, but I do not subscribe to HBO. Do you think it ever will be shown on a different station? — Kathleen Sitzman, Lincoln, Mich. It’s always possible, but that isn’t likely to happen for a while, since it just debuted last month, and HBO currently holds the rights to it. The cable network has been releasing much of its product on its home video label, so it’s quite likely the documentary also will go that route within the next several months. Eric omitted Bill from his rundown of Brooke’s machinations to Ridge. Hope and Brooke shared quality time before the wedding. Brooke and Ridge reunited with a kiss and an apology. Quinn returned to Los Angeles with Steffy. On the day of the wedding, Wyatt sought out Hope, while Steffy went to Liam. Charlie received pointers on topics to avoid in the wedding sermon. As Hope watched, Steffy told Liam of her prognosis and feelings for him, and they kissed. Quinn told Wyatt things weren’t over yet between him and Hope. A shootout ensued. A concerned Molly interrupted Morgan and Ava. Sonny and Shawn arrived at the warehouse, but there was no sign of Carlos. After imploring him to show himself, he did — with a hostage. Robin met Patrick at the hospital. Felix urged Sabrina not to give up. Things got romantic between Sam and Silas. The shootout at the warehouse escalated, and Julian targeted Sonny. Diane told Ava the NYPD wanted to speak with her. Sam and Silas were surprised to find Rafe in the ER being treated for a minor injury, which he admitted was self-inflicted. Patrick made his decision. The Young and the Restless Paul discussed Carmine’s shooting with Christine, saying it was likely in self-defense. Fen told Michael and Lauren he needed to disappear.

Thus, here are some of the favorite chats we’ve had over the past 12 months. Michael J. Fox: It was a genuine treat to sit down with him and chat about his return to weekly sitcom work in NBC’s “The Michael J. Fox Show” ... clearly a major undertaking for him, given his Parkinson’s condition. As he always has been, Fox was frank and forthcoming in discussing the related challenges (“I knew that it was not anything to take lightly, and I really thought about it a lot”), but also still boyishly charming in talking about matters other than the disease. Example: his deeming it “really cool” to act opposite wife Tracy Pollan in an early episode while someone else (Betsy Brandt) was playing his on-screen spouse. (Jay Bobbin) Al Pacino: He sang to me! Apparently, he does not do that often, but I got very lucky when we were talking about his title role in HBO’s “Phil Spector.” Pacino started singing Spector’s “To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him.” He knew the back story ... it was about Spector’s dad dying. (Jacqueline Cutler) John Travolta: It was 3 a.m. in Ireland, where he was at the

Fox time, but that didn’t stop the longtime star from picking up the phone to talk about someone near and dear to him — Lynn Stalmaster, one of the casting directors profiled in the HBOshown documentary “Casting By.” Travolta was extremely friendly and generous in discussing his history, from “Saturday Night Fever” to “Pulp Fiction,” even at that exceedingly early hour for him. The result? A hugely grateful and impressed writer. (Jay Bobbin) Bill Cosby: An early riser, he chatted one morning for 80 minutes before his Comedy Central special “Bill Cosby: Far From Finished.” He laughed a garrulous chuckle and told a favorite story about his wife, Camille, and one of their daughters. The girl was irked because Camille needed to finish something before they could leave. “I’m bored,” the daughter complained. Instantly, her mother said, “That’s because you are boring.” Cosby cracked up at the memory. (Jacqueline Cutler)
