LISBON — Beaver Local High School had 11 students earn the distinction of valedictorian for the Class of 2013. Yasmeen Erritouni, daughter of Elaine and Ali Erritouni, East Liverpool, was one of 11 valedictorians. She was involved in musicals, mock trail, and Academic Club. Erritouni plans to major in biology at Dartmouth College. Alison Bucheit, son daughter of Brad Bucheit, Lisbon, also graduated as a valedictorian. She was a member of the volleyball team and National Honor Society. Bucheit will attend Muskingum College to major in middle school education. Troy Hudson, son of Sheila and George Hudson, East Liverpool, also graduated as a valedictorian. He was a member of the basketball team. Hudson will major in mechanical engineering at the University of Mount Union. Another valedictorian was Alaina Roberts, daughter of Michelle and
Michael Roberts, Lisbon. A member of the volleyball team, Roberts will attend Bethany College to major in nutrition. Jessica Tatgenhorst, daughter of Dawn and James Tatgenhorst, East Liverpool, graduated as class valedictorian. Tatgenhorst plans to attend Kent State University to major in zoology. Jamie Davis, daughter of Kelly and Robert Davis, Lisbon, was one of 11 valedictorians. She played softball and was a member of Masquers Club. Davis plans to major in pre-med at Youngstown State University. Also graduating as valedictorian was Ashley Boni, daughter of Janet and Mike Boni, East Liverpool. A member of marching and jazz band, she also participated in Envirothon. Boni will major in pharmacy at Kent State University. Austin Taylor, son of Angela and Charles Taylor, East Liverpool, graduated as valedictorian. A member of the soccer team, he was also involved
with National Honor Society and English Honors. Taylor will attend Then Ohio State University to major in biology. Kayla Coleman, daughter of Michelle Coleman, East Liverpool, also earned valedictorian status. She was involved with Science Club and tutoring. Coleman will attend Fairmont State University to major in forensics. Alex Boggs, son of Kay and Brent Boggs, East Liverpool, also earned valedictorian status. He participated in mock trial, Envirothon and Academic Challenge. Boggs plans to major in science at Marietta College. The final valedictorian was Matthew Chamberlain, son of Ginny and Scott Chamberlain, East Liverpool. He played basketball and baseball, while also performing in the jazz band. COLUMBIANA — Columbiana High School held its graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. May 26. Cassidy Stoddard, daughter of Bob and Amy Stoddard, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, was named valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. She was a member of Student Government, Spanish Club, Columbiana County Youth Coalition, and the Stoddard volleyball team. Along with National Honor Society, her awards include All-Ohio honorable mention for volleyball, Ohio Honors, Columbiana Honors, and My Y TV Student Athlete of the Week. Stoddard will major in mathematics or accounting at Youngstown State University, where she earned a full-ride through the Leslie H. Cochran Fleeson Scholarship. EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool High School awarded seven students valedictorian status during its recent graduation. Gretchen Dietz, daughter of Dan and Ann Dietz, was one of seven valedictorians. She played soccer and tennis, recently serving as tennis captain. She was also involved in marching band and thespians. Her awards include National Honor Society and October Scholar of the Month. Dietz plans to attend Mount Union University to study early childhood education. Brittany Conkle, daughter of Bob and Lisa Conkle, also graduated as a valedictorian. She served as class vice president for three years and Booster club chairman. She was senior editor of the yearbook, as well as a member of the varsity volleyball and bowling teams. Her awards include National Honor Society and May Scholar of the Month. Conkle will attend Kent State University to major in interior design. Also graduating as a valedictorian was Morgan Campbell, daughter of Scott and Trudy Campbell. A member of the volleyball team, she was also a member of Thespians, yearbook, Outdoor Adventure Club, and prom committee. She was named the March Scholar of the Month. Campbell will major in secondary math education at West Liberty University. Andrew Martin, son of David and Jacquelyn Martin, was the fourth valedictorian. He was a member of the varsity soccer and swimming teams, as well as Thespians, Outdoor Adventure Club, and Booster Club. Along with National Honor Society, his awards include Buckeye Boys State delegate and November Scholar of the Month. Martin will attend The Ohio State University to study electrical and computer engineering. Nicole Talbott also graduated as class valedictorian. The daughter of Ron and Karen Talbott, she was involved with varsity girls soccer, Booster Club and prom committee. Among her awards are National Honor Society and April Scholar of the Month. Talbott will major in criminal justice at West Liberty University. Lacey Hutchman, daughter of Bill and Sandy Hutchman, was also named a valedictorian. LEETONIA — Leetonia High School awarded valedictorian status to four students during its May 26 graduation ceremony. Luke Nappi, son of Ed Nappi and Laura Nappi, Columbiana, earned a 4.0 GPA to graduate as valedictorian. He was a member of the marching band, SADD, Ruriteens, and served as Nappi Academic Challenge team captain. He also served as Senior Class and National Honor Society president. Amongst his senior honors was a selection to attend Capital University’s Honor Band and Sight Reading Clinic. Nappi plans to attend Kent State University at Salem to major in mathematics and biology. Brandon Dattilio, son of Mike and Cindy Dattilio, Dattilio Columbia Street, also graduated with a 4.0 GPA to be valedictorian. He was varsity football and basketball captain, a member of the baseball team, SADD,
and National Honor Society. His football awards include All-Ohio honorable mention, Inter-Tri County League first team, NEO first team, Columbiana County first team, and Quad County first team. Lester Chilton, son of Brenda and Keith Chilton, Countryside Drive, was named valedictorian with a Chilton 4.2 GPA. He was a member of student council, Academic Challenge, Spanish Club, and is an active member of Damascus Friends Church. An Eagle Scout, he served as National Honor Society vice president and FCA president. His academic awards include perfect attendance and Brook’s Maenz writing contest winner. Chilton plans to major in electrical and
computer science engineering at the University of Akron. Zachary Maenz graduated with a 4.192 GPA to be named class salutatorian. Springfield NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield Local High School awarded valedictorian status to four students during its graduation ceremonies. The daughter of John and Tina Stainer, Salem, she was involved with Future Problem Solvers, yearbook, Foreign Language Club, Student Council, and girls varsity tennis. A member of NationRoss al Honor Society, she received the the John Krizay Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship from the University of Akron. Stainer will attend the University of Akron and major in biomedical engineering. Jacob Ross, the son of John and JoAnn Ross, Homeworth,also earned valedictorian status. He served as Senior Class president and Warrior Chief, while also participating in track, Young and Alive, Ruriteens. He was inducted into the National Honor Society. He is the recipient of the Valedictorian Scholarship from the University of Cincinnati. Ross will major in architecture at UC.
The final valedictorian was Valerie Weingart, daughter of Dr. Scott and Shelly Weingart, Salem. She participated in Young and Alive, band and Ruriteens. She was also Student Council president and yearbook editor. Along with National Honor Society, she is the recipient of the Ball State University Presidential Scholarship and Whitinger Scholarship, awarding full tuition, room and board for four years. Weingart will attend Ball State University to double major in vocal performance and English. Olivia Render was named class salutatorian. The daughter of Dave and Kimberly Render, Homeworth, she was a member of Student Council, Ruriteens, SADD, cheerleading, and Mahoning Valley Youth Leadership. Her awards include National Honor Society and Buckeye Girls State alternate. She received the Bolton Scholarship. Render will attend Case Western Reserve University.
