BICYCLE MUSEUM HafenCity, Germany Spring . 2016 Acadamic work
Hamburg is growing. HafenCity, located within Hamburg and currently Europe’s largest inner-city development project, is a blueprint for the development of a European city on the waterfront. The HafenCity path system is thus outstanding for its attractiveness and efficiency. The concept behind the Bicycle Museum design, is to utilize the blueprint path-system plans to synthesize an area between a nearby park and the local retail shopping district. By introducing a connecting path on site, the Bicycle Museum will be linked into a much larger scale of the city while maintaining an area reserved for leisure, enjoyment, productivity, and entertainment which can be experienced as either destination or a stop along the way.

Sit Connection The most important criterion during the planning phase of the path systems was the safety of its users. The issue of safety is ensured by implementing clever routing; and, around 70 per cent of the cycling / foot paths are planned to run on promenades, bridges, or through squares away from all the auto traffic. Additionally, the blueprints also include other cycling paths, or “side-strips, that run next to vehicle lanes which have more than 10,000 vehicle movements per day.

Facade Idea Cycling is a very dynamic movement and very sustainable sport. Bicycle chain is the heart of the bike , it dominates the exercise bike , and when it works, a chain rotating circle , which has a great mobility. Facade idea comes from bike chain which can give people a strong movement.

Live load
Wind lateral load is the major lateral load that is applied on the office. The primary wind direction of HafenCity is SW. The south facade of the office component is the maximum areas, it will issue the larger lateral load. In the office program, shear walls are located at staircases and restrooms, also the layout of shear wall follows the greatest diagonal line of office.

The resistance of a bolted end plate connection is provided by a combination of tension forces in the bolts adjacent to one flange and compression forces in bearing at the other flange. Unless there is axial force in the beam, the total tension and compression forces are equal and opposite. Vertical shear is resisted by bolts in bearing and shear

REFUGEE INTEGRATION CENTER Youngstown. OH Fall 2015 Acadamic work
To innovate Youngstown and bring back its economy is a long term process. The Refugee Integration Center is intended for the refugee, who is from another country and has experienced a big disaster and lost their homes, their families, and essentially everything else. At this center, there are places to live and study, with many additional rich resources. My mission is to take in the refugee, make use of Youngstown’s local resources and local people, to help the refugee pull through their problem and more easily adapt to his or her new local life. Meanwhile the building creates a chance for local citizens to experience the differentcultures that may be present in the building, through meaningful interactions and encounters within the city. This program will draw many people to the area to help the refugee and attract others who would like to connect with these people as well. Therefore, the Refugee Integration Center is not just for the refugee, it also will create a long-term treasure for Youngstown, Ohio.

Road Condition This site is a typical part of the city of Florence. Most buildings are residents and the ground floor of these resident buildings are retail stores. There also has a church of St. Mary of the Angels. The special point is that there is university, the University of Florence. A medical zone and a orphanage zone are near by this site. Because of the residents and university, there is two parking zone for automobile and pedestrian. In the parking, these is a charge station for elecmobile. The Site
Basic Massing
Push Down Space
The site is located at the front of the Florence university, the main purpose is try to connect the existing buiding to the new building.
This massing is first organized into a basic mass. In order to let the urban shape correspond with the building and its surrounding historic buildings.
The massing is separated into two parts. The small part of massing is pushed down to allow the light to come through the building and also to create a wide open space.
Public Exterior Stair
Piazza Around Building
Extend Interior Public Space
Build an outdoor staircase in order to increase the openness of the building, and also to allow people to fully experience this building. Push back a few feet in the first floor to enlarge the communication space and focus people’s attention.
Piazza creates an open walking space for people to relax, communicate, and have fun. Separate the pedestrian space from vehicle space to ensure safety.
Extend the small part of massing to ensure this building has many entrances, become more open, and encourage people to enjoy it.
History The city developed rapidly thanks to its favorable position and the role it played in the ambit of the territorial organization in the region and it soon superseded Arezzo as the leading center in northern Etruria. Economic power was the driving force behind the urban growth of the young colony. Commercial activity and trade thrived thanks to the fact that important communications routes, land and water, intersected at Florentia and offer an explanation for the presence of those oriental merchants, probably on their way from Pisa, who first introduced the cult of Isis and then, in the 2nd century, Christianity.

The first impression we had from the Mao- ya site was that the view is 1: 180 degrees from the road out to the vast natural plain cut by a river and surrounded by mountains. We decided on a hypogeal design. We adopted a minimal design adapted it to the gentle slope. A er a great deal of design op ons and stud- ies we took inspira on from Lucio Fontana’s spa- alism, proposing simple cuts in the landscape. All buildings are inserted in the ground. They are open toward the river with long glass walls and toward the sky with skylights, and gardens.

Yading has a strong cultural and architectural character, so our building has to consider its context. The urban context is characterized by massive blocks built with stone, organized around a central plaza. An urban island in the middle of an amazing natural landscape, with the glorious view of the peaks. Our design process starts from the recognition of the historical building elements and their use in a contemporary vision. Mass: Facades are perforated by regular openings we took the openings and separated the facades from the main buildig body. We connected the two buildings with a garden enclosed in glass

Based on the building, the use of the materials, and the orientation of the building. This place has high altitude, therefore it is full of sunlight , also the nature landscape is really beautiful. So the color at that area is very bright, and clearly. When we doing the design, we are trying to combine the local color to the modern style, and Control the amount of colors at various stages of chromaticity and color, in order to connect all the space together.. Through the loacal culture, nature landscape and activities. we will use some decoration arts which are relate to the animals. To increase the intimacy and interesting between the guestes and the whole space. Also bring the exterior grass to the interior, which create a connection from exterior to interior. The whole thought, hope to cooperate the minimalist architecture at the same time, increase and inprove the confort and art space, to achive harmony.
