SAVE YOUR BOTTLE CAPS AND BREAD CLIPS FOR LIDS4KIDS

We are collecting small plastics to make prosthetic limbs for children, and you can help by donating your plastic bottle lids and bread clips. Lids4Kids recycles these items to make prosthetic limbs for children using 3D printing and there are now drop-off bins at the Lismore Library for anyone who would like to donate. “Previously these lids were going into landfill. Now people can take the lids off their bottles and put them into a bucket at home before dropping them off at the library. The bottles can go into your yellow recycling bins to be recycled as normal,” Council’s Environmental Strategies Officer Barbara Jensen said. “Lids4Kids is great because it provides us with a solution for our bottle lids and bread clips while helping others. We have been educating people that lids should be removed from plastic bottles as they can't be recycled. So this is a fantastic alternative.” The bottle lids and bread clips are sent to Envision Hands, a non-for-profit organisation, which shreds the plastic and turns it into mobility aids. Simply collect all your plastic milk, water and soft drink lids, and bread clips. Wash and dry them and remove the freshness seals. Put the lids into one bag and the bread clips into a separate bag (for Wheelchair Charity) and then drop them off at one of the collection points. As well as Lismore Library, lids and clips can be dropped off at RED Inc on Magellan Street, Lismore, and at Coffee Time, Goonellabah. Anyone in an outlying township is welcome to coordinate their community and deliver to one of the collection points or set up their own town collection point by joining and nominating at the Lids4Kids North Coast NSW Facebook page.

The proposed amendments to Chapter 6 are to include a Structure Plan that will guide the future subdivision of the land at 379A and 407 Richmond Hill Road, Richmond Hill. The Structure Plan shows an indicative location for a local road connection to existing road infrastructure on land to the south (Valley View Estate) and aims to ensure future development of the land addresses key environmental constraints including a number of sensitive/significant natural environment attributes such as endangered species and ecological communities. Council resolved at its ordinary meeting of 9 April 2019 to commence public exhibition of the amendments to Chapter 6 of the DCP. The draft amendments to Chapter 6 may be viewed at our Corporate Centre, 43 Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah, during normal office hours or on our website www.lismore.nsw.gov.au by following the ‘Your Say Lismore’ link. ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION

Rezoning Planning Proposal at 431 Skyline Road South, Wyrallah Council resolved to support a rezoning planning proposal at 431 Skyline Road South, Wyrallah, at its ordinary meeting of 9 October 2018 in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment issued a Gateway Determination (preliminary approval) on 30 October 2018. The Gateway Determination was amended on 11 September 2019 in response to additional reporting submitted for the site. The entire 2ha allotment is identified in the Lismore Growth Management Strategy 2015–2035 as potential large lot residential. The land has direct frontage to Skyline Road South and is located 140m from existing large lot residential land at Wyrallah village. The objective of the rezoning planning proposal is to enable the future subdivision of the land to create one additional lot. This proposal is achieved as follows: • Change the land use zone from RU1 Primary Production to R5 Large Lot Residential and E2 Environmental Conservation. • Apply a minimum lot size of 8000m2 for Zone R5 and maintain a minimum lot size of 40ha for Zone E2. • Apply a maximum building height of 8.5m for Zone R5. The Minister of Planning has not delegated the making of this LEP to Lismore City Council under section 3.34 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The planning proposal to amend LEP 2012 is exhibited for public comment from 9 October to 25 October 2019. Copies of the draft document are available at our Corporate Centre, 43 Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah, and on our website at www.lismore.nsw.gov.au by following the ‘Your Say Lismore’ link.
