After an epic double-overtime victory in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Pittsburgh Penguins are advancing to take on the Nashville Predators—a squad that has been waiting since it clinched the Western Conference title on May 22. It projects to be a thrilling series between a plucky Preds team—making its first ever appearance in the Finals as just the third No. 8 seed to win a conference—and the blue blood Penguins, who are looking to defend their hard-earned title with back-to-back victories on hockey’s biggest stage. One of the only ways to make the action on the ice more exciting is to have a wager down on it. Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com has tapped his sources and come up with a pro handicapper’s take on the situation. Let’s take a look at who he is predicting to win the series, but first a quick peek at the odds and a complete schedule with information for every 2017 Stanley Cup Finals game.

How they got herePittsburgh Penguins:The Penguins had a difficult road back to the finals, between their opponents and injuries. Murray aggravated an injury in warmups before Game 1 of the first round agains the Columbus Blue Jackets, forcing backup goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury into action. They beat the President's Trophy-winning Washington Capitals in Game 7 on the road. Murray took over for Fleury in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Ottawa Senators with the Penguins down, 2-1, in the series. They won Games 4 and 5 to take a 3-2 lead, but the Senators forced Game 7, where the Penguins won in double overtime. Nashville Predators:The Predators went from earning the final playoff spot in the Western Conference to making a dominant run to the Stanley Cup Finals. After clinching the second wild card spot, the Predators swept the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks in the first round, allowing just three goals in the series. After beating the St. Louis in six games, the Predators dispatched the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference finals, again in six games. They won the clinching Game 6 in Nashville, 6-3, after getting a hat trick from Colton Sissons and two late empty-net goals.

INJURY NOTES:Nashville: The biggest loss for the Predators is, of course, No. 1 centre Ryan Johansen, who nonetheless was part of the Clarence Campbell Bowl celebration. Johansen is out the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with suffered compartment syndrome in his left thigh. Kevin Fiala is also out for the remainder of the playoffs after sustaining a fractured femur in Game 1 of Nashville's second-round series against St. Louis. Mike Fisher is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury that kept him out of Nashville's lineup for the last two games of the Western Conference Final. Craig Smith also remains day-to-day with an undisclosed injury that has kept him out of the lineup since May 7 against the Blues -- although he was on the ice for pre-game warmups prior to Game 6 of the West final. The Predators are optimistic both will be ready for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Pittsburgh: Patric Hornqvist, Justin Schultz, Tom Kuhnhackl and Chad Ruhwedel each missed most or all of the Eastern Conference Final. Schultz was the only one who returned to the lineup for Game 7, scoring a goal and adding an assist on the OT winner. Hornqvist's availability for the Stanley Cup Final is unknown, but he did return to morning skate with the Penguins on Thursday. And of course, star defenceman Kris Letang has missed the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs with a neck injury and will not return. Sidney Crosby and Conor Sheary are healthy now, but it's worth noting both have suffered concussions during this run. ADVANCED STATS (playoffs)Nashville: 51.07 5on5 CF% (8th), .945 5on5 Sv% (3rd), 8.93 5on5 Sh% (2nd)

If the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, they will become the first repeat champions of the salary-cap era. If the Predators prevail, they would win the first championship in franchise history and would be the NHL's first No. 16 seed to pull it off. ... It's also a fascinating matchup. The Predators have the best defense in the league, led by P.K. Subban and Roman Josi. Pittsburgh's defense has been crushed by injury and is missing its best player, Kris Letang. The Penguins forwards, meanwhile, are led by two franchise centers in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin -- while Nashville is without its best center, Ryan Johansen, who

will miss the remainder of the postseason because of a thigh injury. A debate will play out live -- which would you rather have, great centers or great defensemen? ... For the first time, two American coaches will be squaring off for a Stanley Cup. Nashville's Peter Laviolette will try to stake his claim as the best American coach to ever run a bench. Pittsburgh's Mike Sullivan has expertly guided a banged-up team through three rounds, establishing him as one of the three or four best coaches in hockey right now. Prediction:This will be a fantastic, fast-paced series highlighting players with worldclass speed and skill. As good as the Predators are, the Penguins have shown endless reserves of will and fortitude during this impressive run. In a close series, Crosby and Malkin have earned the benefit of the doubt. They always seem to find a way. Penguins in seven games.
