Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with North Hempstead Supervisor Jen DeSena to participate in the Special Olympics New York Polar Plunge, held at TOBAY Beach to benefit Special Olympics New York. Officials joined with local residents to brave the rain and cold waters to be ‘Freezin for a Reason’ as the event benefits Special Olympics New York. All funds raised support Special Olympics New York’s programs and promote awareness of people living with intellectual disabilities in our state. Special Olympics New York provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
