Pedestrian hit on Hempstead Turnpike

A pedestrian was struck by a car on Thursday, April 27, at 11:45 p.m. as he was crossing Hempstead Turnpike near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue.

According to Nassau County Police, the 60-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by a 32-year-old male who was travel- ing westbound on Hempstead Turnpike. The pedestrian suffered serious head and chest trauma and was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition There were no injuries reported from the driver of the Altima, which remained at scene. The investigation is ongoing.
