Friday, April 14

10:30 a.m.: Sensory Storytime (Ages 2 to 5 Years) - This introductory Sensory Storytime is designed for children who may need extra sensory support. Sensory Storytimes combine traditional storytime components with sensory elements to enhance the experience.

12:30 p.m.: In-Person ~ Learn to Play

Mah Jongg - American Mah Jongg is an exciting four-player tile game with Chinese origins. Using 152 tiles with various characters and symbols, players pick and discard in turn to form combinations found on the National Mah Jongg League’s annual card of hands. Strategy, skill and luck are needed to be the first player to complete a hand and declare “Mah Jongg!” Join us for this fun challenging yet surprisingly easy game to learn and understand.

Cost: $15 (6 sessions). No refunds.

4:00pm Tweens: Ocean Origami (Grades 4–6) - In April of 1845, the L.I. whaleship Manhattan became the first American ship to enter Japan’s waters in over 200 years. We will celebrate Japanese artistry by creating ocean inspired origami.

Saturday, April 15

11:00 a.m.: Chinese Cooking - Kung Pao Chicken with Sunnie Zhang - Sunnie will show us how to make the most popular Chinese dish, Kung Pao chicken which has a spicy lychee flavor. It is a well known traditional dish both here and abroad. Please note: This recipe contains peanuts.

2:00 p.m.: Teen/Tween Movie: “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” (Gr. 4–12) - Warrior and pacifist Princess Nausicaä desperately struggles to prevent two warring nations from destroying themselves and their dying planet. Rated PG.

Sunday, April 16 est art museums, housed in a former Beaux-Arts railway station. It holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914. The Musée d’Orsay has the biggest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces by painters including Manet, Renoir, van Gogh, Degas, Gauguin, Monet and Cézanne. Around every corner you come eye to eye with a dear old friend like “Whistler’s Mother,” van Gogh’s “Bedroom at Arles,” or Manet’s “Luncheon on the Grass.”

Tuesday, April 18

2:00 p.m.: Hybrid ~ Art LectureVermeer: Rijksmuseum Exhibition with Professor Thomas Germano - Johannes Vermeer lived and worked in Delft, Holland. His tranquil, domestic, introverted, interior scenes and use of bright, colorful light and realistic illusionism is what he is known for. He left behind about 35 paintings. The Rijksmuseum’s exhibition will include masterpieces never before shown to the public in the Netherlands. Join Professor Germano when he presents this visual lecture about Vermeer and the Dutch exhibition.

7:00 p.m.: Hybrid ~ Talk About Books with Fran Cohen: “A Speck in the Sea” by John Aldridge & Anthony Sosinski - A tale of survival, perseverance, and community, A Speck in the Sea tells of one man’s struggle to survive as friends and strangers work separately, and together, to bring him home.

Wednesday, April 19

2:00 p.m.: In-Person Movie ~ “Elvis”Biography/Drama/Music - The life of American music icon Elvis Presley, from his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
