3 sought in gas station robbery
Nassau County Police are looking for three men who allegedly robbed a Hicksville gas station on Friday, April 14.
According to detectives, at 10:45 p.m., a late model four door sedan black colored Nissan Altima entered the BP Gas Station, 300 North Broadway.

Police said suspect one entered the gas station market and pur- chased a lighter. Suspect one is described as a Hispanic man, light complexion, black colored braided style hair, unshaven beard, heavy build, approximately 5’9”, 230 lbs., in his late 30s, tattoos on both arms, wearing a black colored short sleeve t-shirt, blue denim shorts, black and white sneakers with a white shirt draped over his

Running for re-election
To the Editor:
We are honored, proud and excited to announce that we are running for re-election as trustees of the Jericho Board of Education. During this pivotal time, we want to continue to do whatever is necessary to support every student in the Jericho School District and give each of them the tools they need to learn, thrive and excel, while safeguarding their emotional well-being.
We are so proud of the work that the District has accomplished during our tenure on the Board. With the support of the Board, the District has:
• Seen continued academic success, including a consistent 99% graduation rate, with over 95% of our graduates receiving an Advanced Regents Diploma each year
• Won numerous awards across all academic subjects, fine and performing arts and athletics

• Initiated security enhancements – including improvements to building structures and security technology, increases in hours and number of secu rity personnel, and the hiring of a full time head of security
• Added staff and programs to com bat student stress and address mental health issues
• Ensured our students and staff were safe during COVID and seamlessly transitioned to online learning, as well as back to in person learning
• Come out of COVID with minimal academic loss. We were and continue to be one of the highest performing dis tricts in New York State, as evidenced by our grades 3-8 NYS assessment scores and NYS Regents results. Extra support was added for students with academ ic (after school program) and/or social (summer program) concerns
• Continuously been a top rated dis trict in the nation
• Completed over $70 million in cap ital improvements without taking on debt and resulting interest payments, to maintain and improve infrastructure, including renovation/upgrade of science

labs, addition of air conditioning to all instructional spaces, addition of a top of the line turf field, renovation of the pool, and addition of energy efficient lighting, to name just a few
• Increased the focus on technology, including adding one-to-one devices and academic programs and increased cybersecurity



• Revamped our cafeteria and contracted with an outside food services company in response to student and parent desire to improve meal offerings
Divya has been a deeply invested community member since moving to East Birchwood in 2014. She and her and small. Jill is an attorney who specializes in estate planning and corporate law. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Fordham University School of Law. Jill spends a great deal of time doing volunteer work. She is a member of UJA Federation of New York’s Long Island Women’s Cabinet and the University of Pennsylvania Secondary School Committee. Jill has been a Board of Education Trustee for over six years and is currently President of the Board. Prior to joining the Board, Jill served as President of both the Jericho Joint cal health of the District in order to continue and expand the outstanding programming that the District offers, while maintaining a fiscally responsible tax levy, always being mindful of the taxpayers. We will continue to prioritize the safety of students, teachers and staff, their physical and mental health, as well as cybersecurity. In seeking re-election, we hope to further the excellence we have long celebrated in each of the Jericho schools.
