Melbourne based visual artist and designer Katie McKinnon has developed a strong following with collectors throughout Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. Katie's large scale mixed media works are informed by Australia's subaqueous gardens, native flora and fauna, and address the immensity and fragility of the underwater world. Katie works intuitively to merge the ethereal and the everyday. Katie has exhibited paintings and sculpture in numerous group and solo shows, and her work is part of private and corporate collections worldwide. Katie’s paintings and fine art prints have been featured on The Block, Postcards (CH9), by fashion and lifestyle digital media, and in the publications Belle, Inside Out, Home Beautiful, Artichoke, Mezzanine, HOUSES, HeraldSun, The Weekend Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and Adore Home. Katie has released a range of limited edition giclée prints of her work, has designed a collection of NZ wool and art silk rugs for The Rug Collection, home textiles, furniture, architectural hardware, and packaging for the fashion and beauty industry. Working with her extensive, highly skilled network of artists, framers, printers and installers, Katie provides art advisory services for residential and commercial clients Australia wide. Katie leads groups of children, teens and adults through mindful creative adventures, facilitating art workshops for schools, corporate businesses and private groups; encouraging wellbeing, mindfulness and creativity. Portrait by Suzi Appel. Creative Direction by Bee Czarnota on location at DOMO Australia. .

COMMISSION PROCESS OUTLINE
Are you looking for a specific size of painting to fit your space, or a bespoke colour palette to make your interiors and heart sing? Do consider a custom Katie McKinnon painting. I love to work closely with collectors to create custom artworks to their specifications of palette, composition, size and budget. The commission process is pretty straightforward. I have outlined how it works below, together with a guide to pricing. First, we decide on the size. It's always helpful for me to see some photographs of your space, or arrange a visit. I can provide guidance on how to measure and test the size. I like to leave at least 20-30cm of negative space (the amount of bare wall bordering the painting) around the work. We discuss the colour palette and composition. We select framing to compliment the furniture and flooring in the room. I provide exact pricing and lead time for the commission. Acceptance and commencement. Should you wish to proceed with the commission, a 50% deposit is required prior to commencement. I accept all major credit cards/bank transfers. Balance payment is required prior to delivery, following client approval (from photographs and video or a studio visit). I have listed in this outline some popular sizes and recommended retail pricing. Should you have a limited budget, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your requirements. My paintings are created on triple primed cotton duck canvas, Italian or Belgian linen, stretched professionally across sustainably farmed pine, and framed in an Australian oak shadow box, or in a custom painted or stained timber of your choice. Additional charges may apply for alternative framing options.. I work with a range of quality acrylics, oil, ink, watercolour, charcoal, pure pigment, pastel, gold, silver and pearl mica. The paintings are carefully created and varnished (UV protection/light stabiliser, to increase resistance to fading, dirt, moisture and discolouration) using the highest quality materials. The paintings are signed, titled and dated en verso and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. All paintings are delivered free of charge within 20km of Melbourne CBD. I am happy to arrange interstate/international delivery via my shipping agent and can provide a quote upon request. Paintings can be supplied unframed. Please ask me for pricing of unframed works. 23
