Then head to Mr Gobble’s Garden, where Scoop introduces us to more friends made from objects that might otherwise be thrown away. Along the way we’ll also learn some lessons about growing plants and friendship.

Start by watching a beautiful shadow puppet version of David Windle’s poem ‘Day and Night’. Then meet the filmmaker, followed by a video workshop showing you how to make your own translucent shadow puppets. We also include teacher notes with information and ideas for cross-curricular lessons linked to the themes, an author study and top tips for writing poetry.

Bertie... is an environmental entertainment and education series, featuring 7 episodes, for children aged 3 to 8 on LAT’s YouTube Channel.

Lilly meets a different animal in a different place in the world in each episode, and children will learn about different environmental issues and consider how they can take their own steps to help combat climate change.
