GIVING
GUIDE 2018
A resource for supporting our community during the holiday season. 1
VOLUNTEER FAMILIES, Welcome to the Generation SERVE community! We are developing generations of community-minded leaders and we are excited for you and your family to become involved! The holiday season is a wonderful time to support your local community with your time, energy, and resources. This guide will provide you with opportunities, provided to us by 50 local nonprofit organizations, for your family to make a real difference in the areas of animal care, children, education, environment, health & wellness, poverty, refugees, and senior support. We hope this is just a starting point for your family’s volunteer efforts! Generation SERVE offers ways to get your children and family involved in community service year-round. Our programs fall into the categories of Family Volunteering, Service Learning, and Youth Leadership. Take a look on the next page at the descriptions of these three programs and learn more at generationserve.org! Thank you for giving back as a family to the city that we all love!
Amy Loar Executive Director Generation SERVE
Family Volunteering We partner with 100 nonprofit organizations and organize and manage family volunteering activities for nearly every day of the year. Our Family Volunteering Activity Calendar can be found at generationserve.org/activitycalendar. We have opportunities available for families with kids of all ages! We hope to see you at a volunteer activity soon!
Service Learning Third - 5th graders participate in our Service Learning program to dive deeper into a particular service area, learning alongside peers, brainstorming solutions together, and volunteering with their families. This program is offered in the fall and spring. Register your family through our website to hear more about getting your child involved in Service Learning!
Youth Leadership Each summer, middle school and high school students in our Youth Leadership program complete leadership training and help to lead our Family Volunteering Activities. These teens have the opportunity to co-lead and lead our activities and serve in other youth leadership roles within our organization. Out of these programs, we have developed additional opportunities for teens, like our Teen Advisory Board and Teen Service Days.
